It turns out that besides the base fee and the per mile fee, you also have a $1 environmental fee and a $3.46 tax and also a whopping $14 SafeMove insurance fee. The tax I understand since I live in washington state but environmental?? I know the van is a gas guzzler but I drove it only 7 miles with coasting to stop lights and slow acceleration. The insurance was quite expensive for what we used it for. So the environmental fee and insurance fees (totalling $15) were not disclosed on the uhaul.com web site at all, just the base fee of $19.95 and the per mile fee and the obligation to fill the gas tank back up. Deceptive. I paid a total of about $43 to drive 7 miles, plus a bit of gas.

This reservation was no different and we went to pick up the 24' rental truck at the Vancouver location and the only person who could rent the truck was out. Jay who was supposed to be there went out for another project and knew we would pick up the truck after renting a plethora of times from him. I asked the office to call him, and he took their call and instructed them to inform me it would be a 30-minute minimum wait. He told them if I had an issue with it to call him on his cell. I called Jay, three times and no answer. I politely asked the office to call him and he answered and they handed me the phone. I explained to Jay I had workers waiting and needed the truck, Jay told me I had to wait and no one else could assist me. I explained to Jay that this wasn't acceptable given "TIME OF THE ESSENCES" to which he replied, "I have no truck for you!!!" I said, I reserved this truck and I'm here to pick it up. Jay said he wouldn't rent to me!! RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to drive to the Portland, Oregon location and reserved a truck from the Columbia Boulevard location and Keith was very accommodating. I'm now in talks with Corporate Office for Enterprise and they are taking this situation very serious on how I was treated. I will update once this is resolved.

This U-Haul location is brand-new (so new, in fact, that as of this writing, it is still under…read moreconstruction). Until the main building is complete, there is a temporary office in the form of a trailer. This location is positively ENORMOUS! Easily double or triple the size of the largest I'd previously visited. As such, it has a very large number of trucks available for rent. This location has cargo vans and pickup trucks aplenty, unlike most locations. I've had zero issues obtaining a cargo van with next to no notice, twice, from this location in as many weeks. My cargo van was in perfect condition and was clean on both rentals (ironically, the exact same van both times). Prices are reasonable, but be aware that mileage can add up quickly. While U-Haul's vehicle rental prices are lower than many of their competitors, they charge more per mile, so be sure to do your homework before you rent. Frustratingly, on both rentals, the rental contract showed that the fuel level was higher than it actually was, so I had to spend time taking photos and uploading them to the U-Haul web site to substantiate the discrepancy. Service can be a bit on the dismissive side, depending on who you deal with, but once you get an employee's attention, they've been very courteous and helpful. This location is on the North side of Fourth Plain Boulevard, which is a VERY busy street. Making a left turn out of this location can be perilous, but mercifully, there is no shortage of places to turn around, or to turn right and then catch a side street to get to where you need to go.

First of all with the truck. I had to call out a technician twice before my wife and I could even leave because the truck wasn't working properly. More headaches continue: I had to later rent a car dolly due to that I had to tow my wife's car because we would be the only one's moving our belongings. The individual that I rented from told me specifically that because I rented the dolly separate from the truck that the due date would be moved forward a day later. I confirmed with him twice to make sure I was hearing him correctly and he confirmed to me that the due date would be a day later. More headaches continue. The dolly wasn't working properly when I picked it up. One of the tail lights was out. Not very safe. Then when I finally reach our new place, unload our stuff I find out that the so called individual I rented from in Vancouver would not honor what he promised and told me, and that he also did not remember saying those things to me. I lose UBER AMOUNTS of respect for people that don't honor what they say. In the end I was still going to have to pay the "late fees" because of the jerk that has a memory problem. But the wonderful Penske associate where I delivered the truck and dolly helped me out and waived those fees. Lesson learned: DO NOT RENT FROM PENSKE only if you get everything in writing and I MEAN EVERYTHING.

This truck was only $10 more than the 10' and included 6 hours of rental time vs 4 hours for the 10'. We made a reservation online for convenience. The truck was clean inside. Our only gripe was the dirty windshield. It was so filthy you could see someone's writing on it! Not the best when driving a rental. Also the gas tank wasn't completely full (7/8), and on the paperwork the desk lady marked it as full. Luckily my husband was smart and took a photo of it once we got in the truck, in case there werw any questions. The guy who checks in the return trucks noticed we didn't return it completely full, so we showed him the photo and he was fine with it and there were no issues. The employees at this location were friendly and helpful. We had no issues with the rental process, truck or return process. Would recommend.

If you don't want insurance, he'll try to intimidate you into purchasing it, even issuing subtle threats like "if there's a scratch on it anywhere, you won't be allowed to leave the property until you pay me the $800.00". And after you turn in the keys, if you have unused mileage, he won't refund you for it unless you push for it. For a guy who likes to brag about his Mercedes, he is a real cheapskate. I will not rent from this place again.
