That place in the middle of nowhere where you just say "I'm going in because I'm hungry as hell!" On travel for work and was dropped literally in the middle of nowhere. No fast food chains. No restaurant chains. No recognizable stores. No recognizable businesses (actually saw a video rental store... remember those?). Even the hotel I was staying at was stuck in the year 1985 (Marty McFly where you at?). And... because my hotel was older than dirt and offered no real breakfast options besides a microwave and a packet of microwaveable oatmeal, I walked into town looking for a place for breakfast. The first place was locked and then I came across this place. The server greeted us and I could tell it was one of those "Cheers" atmospheres where everybody knows your name (except mine). I ordered their Protein Special for breakfast which was basically eggs, sausage, bacon. Everything actually tasted great despite what my heart thinks and the bill was even better (cheaper than a McDonald's breakfast meal). This is a special place, a small town coffee shop specializing in comfort food. If you're a regular traveler to Upnorth via US 45, you cruise into Clintonville and duck out on a left turn before you get to downtown. Our party of four was seated immediately and we were taken in by the ambiance. It's an intimate dining area, the low ceilings give that feeling of being back at Grandma's house. The walls are lined with artwork, that is for sale, assumingly by local artisans. We were greeted warmly, the staff seemed genuinely happy to see us. The menu is simple, breakfast is available at any time. Three of us wanted lunch and opted for a BLT, a fish sandwich and an egg salad sandwich. I was more in the mood for breakfast, so I had a poached egg on wheat toast. Everything disappeared very quickly and only empty plates were left behind. As an added touch, a batch of oatmeal butterscotch cookies had just come out of the oven, and everyone in the dining room was treated to one. (And it was wonderful!) I seems like Clintonville is halfway to almost anywhere so it's a good place to stop. Next time you arrive in Clintonville and start to make the left turn to Upnorth at the light, go straight and watch for the Bluebird Café, it'll be on your left. Get there early, they close at 2:00. (Next time I get to Clintonville, I want to see the FWD Museum, too. If you have to ask what it is, you probably won't like it.) read more

I grew up in Wisconsin. I've spent a lot of time in small restaurants with great home style food. Adelle's Blue Bird Cafe is on the line of good home style food and overly buttered mess. My family ate breakthere because of the overly biased Yelp reviews that are pretty location biased. I feel this is one of those times where the local flavors/ lack of palette variety lead us to think this may be a gem of a breakfast spot. Although my family thought it was good, it definitely wasn't 4 or 5-star worthy. The staff and guests were Midwest friendly and fun. We had a variety of food items. There were 7 of us packing into the small dining area in front of the kitchen. As a group, we couldn't say whether it was the quality of the Ingredients or the way it was prepared that made our food average and in some cases a little less than average for a diner. read more

This Place is too small, the cooks Don't Know How to Cook They take an extra Long time to get two people's food and they really Just Don't have time for The patrons. I will never eat here again and also when all this happens to you you will still be charged for all the food, even the food you didn't like after tasting..... All in All I Just Not a very good pining experience....I wish Grandma was stili Alive. She knew how to treat Patrons right and the food then was cheaper and way more tasty. read more

In town for Christmas and needed some good hangover breakfast. Bluebird Cafe was the perfect antidote. Warm, small, local, and festively decorated galley style digs. We arrived before noon on the tail end of a short rush - service was good. Menus, coffee and a few minutes to decide while the two tables ahead of us ordered. We both opted for the Hunters Skillet: cheesy hashbrowns, onions, eggs of choice, sausage or ham, toast. Took about a half hour for the solo cook to get our orders out, but we weren't in a hurry. The coffee kept flowing, we hashed over the holiday shenanigans with the family and a local fella named Tom introduced himself and told us the abridged story of his life. I'm kind of a big eater and once our skillets arrived, I was NOT disappointed. Big pile of scrambles on top of the hash b's, cut up lil' smokie sausages throughout and plenty of melted cheese on top. Delicious! Not greasy at all, even tho I would have been just fine with greezy this Boxing Day. Usually this would have been too much food for my famished wife, but there's a gold star on the fridge for her clean plate. She also special ordered her skillet and it came just as ordered. Two thumbs up from her! We sat in the first booth by the front window and I faced the street, so I couldn't see the goings on behind me. The missus said one of the tables ordered burgers and they came out on Kaiser rolls and appeared to be hand formed patties. She said they looked good. Can't confirm that, but I'd certainly try a burger here based on our breakfast. In the end, next time we're in Clintonville, we'll be visiting Schultz's Bluebird Cafe! My daughter and I and her four kids (10 & under) stopped for lunch on Saturday Dec. 31. We did not want fast food and found the Bluebird via an Internet search. Parking was easy and we found a big table right away. It seemed that this was a restaurant that locals frequent; but, we were welcome. Our waitress (young gal with long dark hair) was awesome. She was attentive to our coffee refills and patient with the kids' ordering. Food was great. I liked that a side salad was a choice to go with my delicious pizza burger, rather than just fries or chips. My grandson's Junior Hunter Breakfast was perfect for him. And the pancakes & waffle hit the spot with my daughter and the girls. When we had finished up, one of the cooks asked if the kids would like ice cream in the house--what a sweet gesture! We declined because we still had a two hour ride home and thought on top of the sweet waffle and pancakes, the sugar would make the children not the best travelers! I would recommend Adele's Bluebird Cafe to anyone traveling through Clintonville. It's not too far off Hwy 45 and very easy to find. The staff was the nicest. The food was ok, though lacking in seasoning. The service was absolutely terrible. We both ordered coffee to start, then watched the server walk around doing nothing for over 5 minutes before coming back to pour coffee for us. There were dirty dishes left on all the tables, and the server was very gruff with us. Neither of us will ever return. read more

I love old school cafe's. Not the trendy upscale places that are popping up all over touristy WI, but the real ones that have survived for decades. Schultz's Bluebird Cafe is the real deal. This narrow little diner has that cozy feeling complete with a three stool counter. The breakfast skillet is the thing to order and even the Junior is plentiful and delicious! The waitress is chatty and helpful. I have a feeling the new trendier diner across the street has cut into their biz. Somehow I think they'll find a way to survive. read more

If you want a breakfast or lunch with homemade buns and great flavor, this is a MUST STOP. She offers a homemade cookie to her guests and if you are in for a real treat, you should definitely take home one of Adelle's fresh pies. The food and service are exceptional. we were looking for a small diner/cafe for lunch. Ran across the Blue Bird and decided to give it a try. It was fairly busy when we arrived so we were excited the food was going to be great. Now, everyone on here is happy with their breakfast, well, Lunch was just ok. The burger was a pre-made frozen burger so I was not impressed. The French Fries are homemade and they tasted pretty good. Husbands rates his Lunch as Average. Not outstanding by any means. I guess we did hope for more since it was a little hometown cafe. The service was ok, our waitress could have been a little more friendly, a smile would have gone a long way. Maybe we will have to try Breakfast. read more
