The price is great and the service was friendly but i had multiple pierces framed a while ago and because I didn't know what the signs where I let time go by. Dust, piles of it on the frames. I was blaming the ceiling just because I had no idea that (powder dust beetles) were a thing. Took me a google search to know that I've been living with these things in the 12 frames for nearly 2 years which is actually totally normal for this species. Really disappointed. Very disrespectful, they waste your time ! I waited 45 mins for a photo print, I took a frame I got it from dollar store !! I showed them the frame n still the size was wrong!! After 45 mins I said it's ok I don't want this!! The lady made me pay it saying we printed even though it didn't fit in the frame at all !! Adina Photo which is at the foot of my apartment building, has a huge variety of frames, it's what they do, and at prices you can't beat. It was busy at that time I was in there and I was acknowledged almost right away and told she'd be with me shorty. She was. I was helped to find a frame for a pic of been waiting to frame for a long time and it was only $15. I'd pay double that for a frame like that at Micheal's and even more at a store on Church St. I recently had something else framed. Adina Photo is the broke-ass Toronto artist's best friend. Their selection of pre-fab frames (without glass) is incredible, and the prices are unbeatable at $5 per frame. The frames range from staple classics (black and white laquers, wood finishes, etc.), to the strange and esoteric (turquoise and gold leaf crackle-finish anyone?) In addition to carrying all the standard sizes, they also stock a good number of unusually-sized frames. AND, these ladies know what they're doing! Whenever I walk in needing a frame for a project, they ask me about my artwork and help me settle on a good frame colour and style. To finish off my $5 frame, they cut a custom glass while I wait, attach some hardware, and always throw in an archival mat-backing. All together, I usually wind up paying under $30 for a well-made, unique and fully-archival frame with quality glass. This amazes me, because that's pretty much the same price as the wobbly pre-fab 'made in China' frames available at DeSerres and Michaels. read more

The folks at Pikto in the Distillery District recommended I try Adina after they told me they no longer frame anything that isn't printed by them. Adina is a little out of the way for me but I'm glad I gave it a shot. The framers are friendly and knowledgeable and the cost is very reasonable for the quality of service provided. The choice of frames is great and the new space larger than the old, however the service is inconsistent and can range from somewhat attentive, to unattentive, to rude and dismissive. Despite the hundreds of dollars I have spent there, there has never once been any "recognition" or common courtesy extended to me by one of the shops' principal employees who usually assists me. Her demeanor is frequently unpleasant. There is a bad habit of having their lunches out and a smell of food in the shop which is also disagreeable. Another time I had an employee assure me she would call to discuss the sensitivity of a valuable pastel to a certain style of frame. Of course she didn't. The framing shop at Dupont and Christie (Empire?) extends professional care and does not frustrate with passive aggressive service. Adina should shape up and pay attention to manners and civility. The utterly uncharming "younger" employees are hurting business. read more

Came to take my pr photo, showed the girl the specification which says, face should be in the middle of the photograph, despite my photo came out with head near the bottom of photograph, she ignored it and repeatedly said it was okay, they just need to see your face, after calling CIC to confirm that the photo was cut wrong, I had to brave the cold weather to visit the studio TWICE to retake my photo, there was not a single word of apology from the store although they admitted it was but wrong. The second take is merely okay, one side of my shoulders is tilted. A total mistake and disappointment I find it is with regards to the service and quality of work offered at Adina. They might treat their old patrons well, but defiantly not new customers, so cold and indifferent... read more

Great place to take your pictures to be framed! Found this place on here after I was quoted $250 at a different store to have a certificate framed. Here, I was quoted $95 for the same job! They took the time to show me a myriad of options, and I chose the one that looked the best. They had it done in about a week, and it looks fantastic! I have come here many times and have always been happy with the framing and customer service. They do an excellent job, are helpful with suggestions, and timely. It's a small shop but they have a large selection to choose from for custom framing. They also have a good variety of inexpensive and unique ready-made frames, which is especially nice if you are looking for something a little different from the standard frames offered at art supply stores. I have also worked with Christina on a special and complex framing project. She really took the time and consideration to think the project through and made many helpful suggestions for the design and execution of the work, which helped to solve some problems I hadn't worked out yet. Completely and utterly overpriced. I pass this location every day on my way to work so out of convenience I stopped in to get a painting custom framed. The lady was nice enough (very chatty) so I decided to go ahead with the order, which to their credit was completed rather quickly. However the price was nagging at me. Had the workmanship been stellar I obviously would have let the price go. But it wasn't. It was just standard, neither here nor there. So... I did a little post comparative shopping and found that every other custom framing shop I checked would have charged me almost half - yes HALF! - of what I paid. Ugh!!!! Needless to say I am writing this feeling very swindled and very, very stupid. My buyer's remorse would recommend that you NOT get your items framed here. My buyer's remorse would recommend check a few places out before settling on one for convenience's sake and because a lady was chatty. There are a couple of good shops just up the street on Yonge... The nice lady that took my photo took a great image (only 2 shots and I was happy). The Passport office also thought the image was really great (compared to the crappy images they have seen). so if you want a photo that the passport office will love than come here. The difference between the original quote I got from this shop, and the eventual price I paid, was 50%. The price went up every time - when I brought the photo in a week later, when I choose a frame not only a mother would love, and at the end when it turns out that oops, everything we discussed was before taxes. It's funny how everyone (almost) is commenting on the passport photos :) I think I've only taken pictures here once. It was ok, I don't know how can there be an outstanding passport photo experience :) Anyway, what is very nice about this place is that it is actually very well priced based on the few shops I have tried in Toronto. Mind, we should compare apples and apples, don't compare some shops that use cheap Chinese materials for frames, yes, they'd be cheaper. The true savings come when you buy a frame that's already made (they actually have a very big storage under the building with hundreds of already made frames and cuts). Or, you can get an already made frame and get it cut to your sizing. Again, still will be much cheaper than ordering from catalog. I have framed a number of pieces there and was always able to find (or order) a unique one that complements an artwork at hand. The nice thing too is that it is possible to bargain and get further cuts to price if one's willing to put the final thing together (i.e. insert the photo in the frame yourself). So I had a wooden frame (order) with double matte about 20x30" for $80. The frame was simple black wood (Italy). That's a steal. I have had a similar job (where I provided my own matte) done at another place for 120 few years ago. If I remember correctly this big selection of ready-made one of a kind frames is coming from other very large places where those frames or small pieces of framing are left overs. Customer service has always been great too. I've moved out of downtown, but I still come down for my framing needs. read more
