It's right downtown and yet I wouldn't have known about it otherwise, since it's on the basement level of the Sheraton Hotel complex. 2 photos for $9 (or $5 on saturdays with an online coupon http://www.rapidphototoronto.com/passport.html, but their saturday hours are variable... you have to phone on friday) which they guarantee will meet requirements for whatever you are using it for. For weeks, I had discussed and planned with the staff to buy a plaque print portrait as a Valentine's Day gift for my partner. I ordered and paid in full a week in advance and was assured it would arrive with time to spare. Turns out, to save a few bucks, the manager and owner of the store refused to courier the finished product to the store. Instead he said he'd pick it up himself. He didn't do so and kept postponing. He missed his own deadlines again and again. To save a few bucks and because they could care less, the owner of this store decided to ruin Valentine's Day. Can i give less than one star? I've used this "rapid" service twice and both times I was quoted times my digitizing would be done and assured it would be fast. I went here because of the name "RAPID". Both times my digitizing was hours late and I was offered no compensation. This happened to me once years ago at "West Camera" a 10 minute walk from rapid. They where extremely apologetic .. didn't charge me and offered my next round of digitizing free. I am an established photographer and director in Toronto and I wouldn't recommend "rapid cameras" slow shitty service to anyone in this city. read more

Just checked this place out for a visa photo after consulting the all-knowing Yelp. It sure was rapid, alright, and if I were in the business of rating local joints based on the promises of their creative store names, I'd have to give a 5. But of course, we Yelpers always look for so much more than speed! Maybe I'm old-fashioned (side note: I'm definitely not) and maybe I'm needy (introspection: ...possible?) but it was rapid to the extent that I felt I was being rushed out so that the three women in pink-polos behind the counter can go back to their daily chit-chats. They were prompt to pause their chats to serve me as soon as I entered and friendly enough, but I walked out wishing I got a little more warmth and time of day. BUT, I realize this no hassle, in & out business is what many look for, especially on the PATH corridors. The photo quality appeared to be nothing extraordinary for the price. It was nearly $14 for two photos after tax - which, call me old-fashioned again - was a little bit of a surprise. Perhaps I'm just dreaming in a delusional universe where Toronto sans inflation and rising costs of living can still enjoy cheap eats and services. I would check them out again if I am in a rush, but will probably look around for other Passport photo spots if I've got the time. read more

I don't usually write yelp reviews, but this place wowed me enough to want to say something! I had to get 8 passport-style photos for my U.S. immigration papers and everywhere else that was close to me was ridiculously priced (West Camera $12.95 for first pic, $6 each after that; Duff Mall Walmart, $14.99 set of 2, no discounts), so I decided to head east to Rapid Photo, who would honor their internet coupon of $8.98 for 4 passport photos - even if I used it twice. Very friendly staff, I was in and out in probably less than 3 or 4 minutes, and I paid $20 for 8 passport photos. You honestly can't go wrong. Recommending to all my friends. read more

They misplaced and have not been able to locate my old black & white and colour negatives - these have massive sentimental value for my family and are irreplaceable to us. Steve doesn't know if they were lost in storage, with a supplier or sent home with the wrong customer - this is despite Steve telling me this was a unique job. I hold a Sri Lankan passport, in other words I need to apply for a visa to travel almost anywhere on earth. Combine that with my tendency as someone that gets stuff done last minute, a place like Rapid Photo is a godsend to me! It sticks completely true to it's name and does indeed deliver in a "rapid" fashion (used it 3 times and had a 10 minute wait each time!) For $10 you're hooked up with 2 pictures (I'm 97% certain it's 2 and not 4 pictures) and to tie it all together in an "almost too good to be true" fashion they deliver friendly service as well! The easiest way to get to this underground location is to go in to the Sheraton hotel and take the escalator down to the Sheraton Concourse portion of P.A.T.H. It's at a great location too, close to a few embassy's so you would not have to go out of the way if you're looking for a "on the day of" photo shoot. So glad I discovered this location and it will hold a monopoly on my passport photo taking life! read more

so have you ever had a last minute decision to create this awesome photo present to your amazing friend who just has to have this mug with the shot of his/her friends' silly faces?... I had that happened to me at least few times. and it always was max one week prior to the bday/farewell/wedding/whatever party that it had to be ready for. then of course you always go to these big name photo stores that have all these online store features. and after you're about to submit the order the note tells you that it will take up to 10 business days for your order to arrive. well thank you very much. that's too late. but Rapid Photo does these things in a day! and most of the times cheaper and the staff is super friendly! read more

Came here during the lunch hour for passport photos. Service was indeed "rapid" and prints are instant. I was literally in and out of the store in 3 minutes with two signed and dated passport photos. My only qualm is that I would have preferred if the photographer fixed me up a bit before taking the photo and told me when she was taking the photo- ex: ensure there are no wild strands of hair and count to 3. Other than this, the service was excellent. Cost: $11.99 + tax for two passport photos. Protip: Go on their website and print out the $2 discount coupon, passport photos will only cost $9.99. read more

Most people seem to go here for passport photos. I had a Groupon coupon for slide scanning. The service was great. Lovely, helpful staff and owner/manager. My complaint is about the quality of the scans themselves. They were much too contrasty and I am not able to use most of them. I suspect that they crank up the contrast to give slides with less contrast a little punch. Unfortunately for me, my slides were already had lots of contrast and didn't need this. All of the slide scans came out like this, so they obviously don't test a few scans to start and then make adjustments. I can't say anything about the photo scanning they do, or the conversion from VHS to digital. read more

Only minus a star because I called on Friday to confirm what their hours would be on the Saturday, only to show up and them to not be open. I had to write to warn you not to go at 10am on Saturdays - they didn't open until around 11am. I came because I got a groupon now deal where the passport photos are only $5. (It said valid between 9am-1pm.) Otherwise the process is pretty fast. read more

Ripped off yet again by this store. Was in a rush, and very few places left that print photos. Offered $5 for a glossy print, and $10 for a glossy. Really? 100% more. The price was already more than what one would expect for a 8x10, but the relative difference was clearly an attempt to extract more. Reasonable quality print, but no Black's. Having experienced this store before, I would have stayed away had there been a choice. read more

Terrible customer service. Just came out from the store sharing my unforgettable rudeness of the staff. I went to take my Canadian citizenship photos and I wanted to confirm in advance if all the photo specifications will be met as they are pretty lengthy. After I've obtained the photos I wanted to double check to make sure the dimensions of the photos are correct and and this girl, whom I asked over to confirm, condescendingly looked at me while answering my questions as if why is this guy even asking these dumb questions. And not to mention the girl took the photo of I took the first shot within 2 second (without taking more) and put the camera in front of my face immediately and asked "this is okay right?" and printed out immediately (I didn't even have time to wear my glasses to properly check). If you want to spend over $13 for two photos which come with unforgettable level of customer service, by all means experience them. But otherwise, you should avoid such place at all cost. read more

The Asian guy told me to pay $25 to email me my passport photo. Last year i was charged $10. How do you justify charging $15 more in less than a year. This place lacks integrity. I also asked the guy that i would require the passport size photo in ID size & even thou it would print 4 in the paper he said he would charge me double the price. He rather cut and throw the paper away but not print 4 and charge a minimal amount like other stores do. No explanations given no customer service no value for your money read more

I had a disposable camera that I wanted to develop. I came here because I read about it on Reddit: (http://www.reddit.com/r/toronto/comments/2wd2kd/develop_film/) I thought that it's supposed to be cheap, since it's only got one dollar sign beside it. I went to the place. I asked how much it is to develop a disposable camera. The staff told me that it would be $25. I asked if it was for one-hour service. The staff told me that it's for a week. I thanked her, and left. I went to the Annex Photo, where I usually develop disposable camera photos. It was a bit more than $9 for three-day service. Maybe Rapid Photo is cheap for passport photos (I have no idea), but definitely not for disposable camera photos. read more

Rapid Photo is fantastic! I dropped by around 8:30 on Thursday morning and waited less than 2 minutes to get started on taking my passport photo. There was a mirror and blotting papers (to combat any shine) and the lady who was working there that morning was very sweet and patient with me (I must have done 4 or 5 retakes to get a picture I liked). She happily took the $2 off coupon I brought with me. My pictures were printed and processed in less than 5 minutes. I really can't think of anywhere else in the PATH where you can get good quality passport photos for $10. PS- I spent less than 10 minutes total in the store! read more

Went in to get visa photo taken. Told them i need a chinese visa photo taken and girls says ok. I get the photo and i confirm with the girl that its for a chinese visa and she says yes. Go to the visa center and turns out size is wrong. Go back to rapid photo to tell them they gave me the wrong size and girls repsonse was "Ill take it again for you and i wont charge you". Are you serious? Not even an apology for screwing up and wasting my time by giving me the wrong photo size. Get your act together! read more

This place is located on the shopping concourse below the Sheraton across from City Hall. I had four passport photos made there yesterday for $10.15 including tax. Be sure to print out & bring the coupon on their website to get this deal (4 photos for $8.98). The photos were made while I waited so I was in & out in about 5 minutes. Cheap, efficient and done right. You only need your guarantor to sign on the line on the back. I had no problems at the passport office w/these pics. I went here to get international passport photos based on the positive Yelper reviews and they were spot on! I went during my lunch break--a busy time in the underground mall--and was in and out with my photos in literally less than 5 minutes. I walked in, someone greeted me and asked what I needed, I told them, they ushered me to the photo-taking seat (they had to wait for ME to take off my coat, scarf, hat, and brush my hat hair!), snapped a couple of photos, asked which one I liked, and I paid while they were printing. They appear to have their photo printing software preloaded with the correct placement and sizing for a variety of photo specs (for different countries, visas, passports, etc) so the process is very quick AND your photos conform to the regulations. Super fast, efficient and knowledgable service. The owner was friendly and patiently answering passport and passport photo - related questions from the person he was serving before me, even though I'm sure he's repeated the same phrases a gazillion times. Amazing service and I wasn't even a customer. Our son's infant passport had expired and we hadn't realized (thinking it was a 5 year expiry like the rest of the family's). I wish I found the site sooner has there are options to get a passport even on the weekend (which aren't really mentioned on the passport website). Steve gave us some very helpful advice and tips knowing that we already had our photos, thus the info was free. Fast, friendly and efficient. If your looking for quick service then this is the place. Can't say they are the cheapest but was good enough. I printed 5x7 and 4x6 pictures and it came out pretty good. They also print on mugs, tshirt, phone cases asnd stuff. Not sure about the price for those. Yes Steve provides the photo service (proper quality and quick) but not only that he adds years of experience of helping people like me make things go right. I hired Rapid Photo for my wedding and they have posted our two enlarged wedding pictures in their photo shop without our consent. Quick and friendly service. I needed a passport photo taken and was served right away. By the time I finished paying, the photos were already printed and put in their little envelope. so we took our 1 week old baby girl to Rapid photo to take her passport picture after reading all the good reviews about it on yelp.ca. Best photographer in town for that task, this is our 4th baby and we dreaded each time we had to do this picture, but at rapid photo, it was the easiest, best time ever. The owner was very helpful and easy going, and made this look like it's the easiest task on earth, he told us he has 4 kids of his own and he totally understand how frustrating this can be. Awesome Place!! If you just realized, the night before your flight, that your passport has expired.....this is the place to help you out! They have an after hours service which allows you to get your photos taken.....at any time...which allows you to get to the passport office first thing in the morning with pics and application in hand to get an urgent service on your application. My wife called at 4am....Stephen opened up at 6am and took the photos. Stephen advised me on all the protocols to ensure that I receive my passport that same day.....Which I did. Everything he told me played out exactly the same! While taking the photos, Stephen kept assuring an ever doubtful me that things would work out. He was so precise in the notes he gave....... that he gave me the confidence, that in fact things would work out. I was able to attend a once in a lifetime event because of this service and Stephens sage advise! I am very grateful....... Went in at 12:30 which I would expect to be the lunchtime rush but the whole process to get my passport photos taken, printed and paid for took me all of 5 minutes (if that) and the photo looks great! Only cost $11 compared to Black's $30, and I didn't have to wait 20 minutes. Couldn't recommend it more. I work for an international organization with lots of employees constantly travelling/needing visa photos etc and they ALL go to rapid photo. read more
