I waited approx 45 minutes before the single receptionist was done with the one customer in front of me.. I'm not sure how this kind of service makes sense to a company wanting to be efficient, but thats their own prerogative. Dr. Rabe was engaging and very friendly, and we had a good consultation. Of course since the national health service doesn't pay for these kinds of visits, the entire process was astronomically expensive. I won't get into the efficacy of homeopathic remedies because thats a tired old matter which has been settled by hundreds of research studies overseen by the brightest minds, all to come to the conclusion that the entire field is bunk science. Make that expensive bunk science. But 40% of the effectiveness of any treatment plan is attributable to the placebo effect, so I can see it's use here. It's just a very expensive way to cure yourself with plain water. They do have a wide variety of other therapies, all backed by various levels of scientific proof, though most of them are very low on the scale of legitimacy as shown by double blind studies. This doesn't mean they don't work, it just means that the more you convince yourself that it really does work, the more likely you are to experience a nice placebo effect. Acupuncture, however, is an exception to this as it has been proven to have scientific credibility. To sum it up, this really isn't a bad place.. the staff are nice and welcoming. The facility is a little cramped, but that doesn't take away from the experience really. Personally it's just not my habit to spend tons of money on something I'm not entirely sure will work or not.

Than at the end I am told to return to my family doctor. If you go there for a medical assessment don't tell them you have a family doctor. I was told on the phone that they would fill out my short term medical work absent form but after the assessment I was told to return to my now previous family doctor. I would get better service at a walk in clinic than at my previous family doctors office. Nova Scotia needs private family doctor health care options. I was willing to pay for follow up services at one to one. I guess one to one is not in business for the money maybe they should be under the public system. I paid $160.00 For a service I didn't get which was a filled out work medical form I was told upfront on the phone they could complete that was false. With the promise of health and fitness in 15 minutes a week, how could a long time marathoner like me not be skeptical - I mean interested. The program is based on some sound science research and seems to enjoy sticking it to the classic anecdotal approaches to fitness - especially the existing dogma of cardio. (FYI - the illustrator for the book is a good friend who lives a couple of doors down in Dartmouth) So, back to 121, the facilities are clean, modern and efficient. The mix of fitness sessions, physio and massage makes it feel more like a doctors office than a fitness centre. The program is based on one person, one trainer alone in the training room for 4-5 exercises for 15 minutes a week - now this is personalized! Having a trainer focus on every second of your training is a proven training technique for success - and the 121 trainers are excellent. They coach, cajole, cheer, encourage and do whatever is necessary to ensure that your muscles are max out - each time, every time, every second of the workout. Until you experience the exhaustion of 2 minutes of controlled max out effort, it is hard to appreciate this approach. But it works and 121 do it best! They use some administrative touches like variable automatic payment plans and e-mail reminders of appointments. Overall 121 has given me a crazy, almost unbelievable, experience that now has my muscles in the best shape in decades. Their professionalism, facilities and instructors helped me get through my skepticism - great thanks!

Somehow looking through the Yellow Pages is too...too...well...random. So I turn to the people I know and if they're happy with someone, I'll give him/her a try. Problem for me...none of my local friends or family have been. But Helen, my favorite checkout lady at Sobey's, in a few of our chats over the last couple of years has mentioned Dr Katherine MacAdam and told me she was a miracle worker. And she is! Just a few sessions with this very professional, very bubbly chiropractor and I'm a new woman. Plus she has a couple of amazing massage therapists in her office too...but that's another Yelp story.

After an accident, I needed physio for my wrist/ hand/ arm…read more I had 16 sessions with Laura. My sessions where approximately 40 mins, I saw Laura, the actual physiotherapist for about 5 mins. The rest of the time I was attended to by a clinic assistant * who had a much better bedside manner* The sessions where pretty much the same each time, was not asked specifics about how things were feeling. My final session, which was also an assessment, was very dismissive , Laura focused on how the insurance company would percieve her review and whether they would approve more sessions or not. She told me she would ask for 6 more. * Found out after that she asked for 12. * I had a fitting for a wrist brace that I had been prescribed, was told that it would take about a week. I made many phone calls to Choice for 3 weeks after that. Was given on going conflicting information from Dee at Choice. Was told that I would be able to pick up my brace when It was dropped off by the brace company. Kept calling, and could not get a straight answer about why it had been 4 weeks and still no brace. At one point Dee said " we are waiting for approval" .... I asked from who ? For what? Was told " your insurance company " After being told at the time of the fitting that insurance companies DO NOT direct Bill for braces. I asked why didnt someone try to Ask me about this first. I told Dee that I was paying for the brace, and that I needed it asap. Again was told that when the brace was dropped off, I would be called.... Waited another week. Called back, as well as my injury lawyer , who also spoke to Dee. Dee told my lawyer that I had an appt that very afternoon . I had no idea about this appt. I called and spoke with Emily, who checked that I in fact did NOT have any appt. There is a huge lack of communication at Choice. Between staff, and clients alike. The last time I spoke with Dee, she told me that she would have the brace person call me. THREE weeks later , I received a call from the brace person, * after my lawyer made yet another call to Choice. * was told that she must have been given the Incorrect # for me, as she left a voice mail message weeks before.* I did not have a voicemail message. FINALLY after 6 weeks, I am picking up my brace directly from the brace office, as I want NOTHING else to do with Choice. I DO NOT recommend Choice healthcare in Dartmouth to anyone.

I have chronic musculoskeletal issues which have benefited greatly from alternative treatment modalities, but have not disappeared entirely. A Google search led me to Choice Chiropractic. Pros: - Friendly, efficient reception experience - I printed off and completed the New Patient form prior to my visit, which made the transaction even faster. - Clean and modern office. It's quite small, but that's okay. - Wide range of services available: massage, nutrition counseling, physiotherapy, orthotics, etc. - Fantastic first (and second) consultation with Dr. Warren Hefford. He's very upbeat, personable, and efficient. He did a great job of explaining various chiropractic treatments and their intended goals, and he kept the lines of communication open throughout the entire visit. I left feeling rather "worked on", as he told me I would, but the satisfaction of hearing nearly every one of your vertebrae pop outweighed the day or two of soreness that followed. Cons: - The clinic is difficult to access from Main Street if there's any amount of traffic; left turns are darn near impossible. - You will have to book well in advance, at least for evening chiropractic services. I accept that this is the case for most clinics, but I understand that some people might find this frustrating. If you're interested in sampling what Choice has to offer, I encourage you to give them a call. I'll be a regular patient until I leave the province!

I intended to go a few times until I got back to normal. Two years later I'm still going...primarily because of how I was treated, an easy personal connection to Dr Fox (and I like Dr Peddle too!) and because I now appreciate the concept of "maintenance". Walking in I was greeted by a friendly woman, rude of me not to get her name but she was very helpful. Massage Addict is actually a membership based massage therapy location which long story short means $50 for a 1 hours massage. Yes you have to sign up for 12 months but you can leave at any point.. This location is actually pretty new. Nice decorated with a vibrant green wall when you first walk in which is very eye catching. Nice white leather coach to relax while waiting. Micheal actually gave me my massage and he was very good, very strong I did not know weather to cry or hug him. But the most important thing my back feels 100% better and this was my first one. I have already booked for March and I can not wait. Oh yeah they are starting the week of Feb 21 with Esthetics's services as well and the prices are very reasonable. Some of the services that they offer are Beyond Brazilian I can just imagine but other then waxing they will do Facial care as well as Nails. I will post a picture tomorrow for you..

Having felt quite frustrated with my insurance company as of late and getting more so as the months go on, I decided this was a nice way to relax and also "avenge" myself by ensuring that we are sucking every last dollar out that we're entitled to on our plan. I haven't had a lot of experience with getting massages (none in fact) but as a business these guys are solid. Friendly front desk staff, and the therapists are professional and friendly. I always walk out of there feeling a little more relaxed and a little less tense. The introductory rate can't be beat and the monthly membership is definitely a savings. And as with all benefits I put it on my credit card for the points and then have my insurance company reimburse :) #winning
