Somehow looking through the Yellow Pages is too...too...well...random. So I turn to the people I know and if they're happy with someone, I'll give him/her a try. Problem for me...none of my local friends or family have been. But Helen, my favorite checkout lady at Sobey's, in a few of our chats over the last couple of years has mentioned Dr Katherine MacAdam and told me she was a miracle worker. And she is! Just a few sessions with this very professional, very bubbly chiropractor and I'm a new woman. Plus she has a couple of amazing massage therapists in her office too...but that's another Yelp story.

It is a really welcoming environment and warm atmosphere. They are very punctual and don't push you through. The chiropractor I have always takes time to explain what he is doing, why he is doing it, and the benefit of it. He makes you feel really comfortable in his clinic. I also really enjoyed that they also seem interested in you as a person. Generally, we would have chats about what's going on my our lives. I know small talk is common practice in medical clinics, but this was more personal. Beyond that, I have had my chiropractor stop and chat with me outside of the clinic. She was knowledgeable and had that great massage style that felt really gentle but you could tell she was really working out the kinks. Centrally located for transit users and with plenty of street parking this space is practically perfect. It has a clean, modern feel, with a welcoming reception area and comfortable treatment rooms. A large main room beyond reception is sometimes used for yoga. The clinic is open until 9pm some evenings, so flexibility with appointments is rarely a problem. I followed Courtney here from a previous clinic. She's a bright and friendly face with a warm personality. She has a throughout knowledge of Massage Therapy with years of experience behind her. Courtney makes you feel at ease from the moment you see her and she eases your aches and pains while you're with her. I have been suffering with severe headaches and migraines for almost two years now. I've been for test after test, and tried many different medications. As a last resort I decided to follow a co-workers suggestion and try out a naturopath at Pillars of Health. I booked an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Salib Huber (who is also a dietitian), and immediately felt at ease. She asked me more questions than I think my family doctor has ever asked me, and then was able to determine a likely cause, and a treatment plan including dietary changes and visits to a chiropractor (not a pile of prescription meds!) In three days I had better results than I had had in the past two years, and the following week I went to see Dr. Denise Wright, the chiropractor in the office, who also helped me greatly but with no big whipping or snapping movements that I was scared of. She was also great when it came to putting me at ease, and always uses the gentlest method of adjustment possible. She also suggested I see a Registered Massage Therapist (Meghan L. Munro (Palmer), and all three combined have virtually gotten rid of my headaches. I know for someone without medical coverage this can be expensive but for those who are covered by an insurance plan I would highly recommend all of the staff at Pillars of Health. I also liked that they are trying to help me not have to come back. I know that my sound weird but sometimes I feel like (especially with private practitioners), they want you to keep coming so they keep getting paid, but here getting you better really is their #1 priority. They do direct bill to Blue Cross, and their clinic is very clean and welcoming.
