I was very disappointed with my experience at this dental office. I was informed that my son could no longer be seen because of an outstanding balance that they claim had been sending statements. The problem is that the statements were being mailed to an old address, despite the office having me verify and update my information at every visit. My son's last appointment was only about a year ago, yet this issue was never brought to my attention then. What was even more frustrating was being told that even if I paid the balance in full immediately, they still would not accept my child as a patient. Their justification was that they had called me one time regarding the balance. Refusing care over a billing issue that resulted from incorrect contact information and poor communication seems unreasonable. This wasn't the first time I experienced issues with their office management. On one occasion, my son had already checked in and was sitting in the dental chair being seen when I received a phone call stating that he had missed his appointment and never showed up. Receiving a no-show call while my child was actively in the office was concerning and reflected a lack of organization and communication. Overall, I found the situation poorly handled and disappointing. I would expect a healthcare office to maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with patients, and make a reasonable effort to resolve issues before refusing care. read more

To any parent who wants to jump start their kids in their journey of dental health: don't look any further! I never ever in my whole life imagined taking a couple of 3 and 5 yr old kids to dentist could be this easy and this fun. Dr B and his team are superb. The whole experience from the parking garage to the waiting room, to the actual dental work to the presents and coming out is just so fun that as soon as we get back to the car my kids are asking when we will come back????!!! If your kids are anything like mine, they're not good at waiting in the car to be called in or sitting still in the waiting room. No need to worry and bring a luggage full of toys, they've gotten taken care of that.The chickens in the parking lot and the fish tank in the waiting room are guaranteed to keep the kiddos so mesmerized that I had no problem getting there 15 minutes early and let them enjoy. Then comes the admission, all in a mini laptop in the lobby, pre-loaded and easy to check in. And the most important part, the actual dental work. I can't tell you enough about how friendly and kid the staff is, in greeting the kids and clearly explaining to them exactly what to expect. Then offering the menu...yes there is a menu! From which they can choose both flavor of toothpaste as well as the flavor of the vitamin after cleaning! The kids LOVE the menu and that they can make choices. Genius! And then of course the after dental work presents from. The balloon and the sugarless candy and the toys... Dr B and his crew have made this experience so well that I'm sure my kids are so well set up to successfully and pleasantly take care of their teeth throughout the rest of their lives AND enjoy it at the same time. My son is terrified of going to the dentist so we've been to four since he was 1 year old looking for the best fit. For example, my son will sit in the chair and is chatty and friendly but as soon as he's asked to open his mouth, he'll clamp up. I went to Dr. Barrera because of the great reviews and how he helps kids get used to going to the dentist. While I did get a sense of what that might look like today, I was not happy. We left without a teeth cleaning because my son was getting figdety and kept getting out of the chair. With all that extra time we had since there was no cleaning, I thought the dentist could spend some time with me and talk about my concerns more. I felt rushed and my questions were not met with the level of seriousness I thought they deserved. To make matters worse, they will only see children 6 and under in the morning. My son gets out of school at 11:30am and they will not accommodate him. They want him to miss school for a teeth cleaning instead of letting him come at 12:30pm. I shouldn't have to choose between school and teeth cleaning. read more

I read many reviews before taking my kid to the doctor but didn't like the service. I felt rushed. Dr didn't clean my kid's teeth as he was fidgety and afraid, didn't answer our questions to satisfaction, and asked to reschedule. A few days later, I received a bill for dental consultation, Consultation? You didn't even answer all our questions made us feel rushed. Not happy with service. We had our son's first dentist visit today with Dr. Barrera -- my son is only 10 months but already has 8 teeth, so our pediatrician recommended a dentist visit. This office is AMAZING. From Lucy the receptionist who answered when I was searching for a dentist, to the hygienists, and even the doc himself. Just amazing. So warm and personable, and we never felt rushed. The best thing is they offer this peek-a-boo visit just to make sure there aren't any issues, and then review proper brushing technique in detail since he's too young for a full cleaning and xrays. Dr. Barrera was so friendly, thorough, and of course great with our son. We got some great tips, and we have definitely found our ped's dentist. I am beyond grateful that Dr. Barrera exists. On Sunday night, my 2 year old son fell down, which is totally normal for a kid his age. Except, he fell down tooth first onto cement. Lots of tears, a busted lip, and an emergency room visit later, he's mostly ok except for a nasty crack in his front tooth. The ER did a temporary patch on his tooth, but recommended we see a dentist ASAP. So the issue now is that when COVID started, my son didn't even have a tooth, and with us being very cautious during COVID times, we hadn't brought him to the dentist yet which meant, we didn't actually have anyone to call. We started out with our adult dentists, who advised that we actually needed a pediatric dentist. Cool, we didn't even know they existed. Monday morning, we called ALL of them in the Bay Area. Most didn't pick up their phones, and the ones that did basically told us it wasn't an emergency and they could maybe see us in a month since we weren't current patients. I'm not really sure how a two year old with a cracked tooth down the middle, in constant pain, and not eating was going to last a month before an initial exam with no promises on when a treatment might happen, but that's literally the answer we kept getting. Finally, we called Dr. Barrera's office. After describing our situation, his staff made us a priority, and literally squeezed us in to an appointment in under one hour. I want to emphasize that this was not an easy feat, and the office was busy when we arrived but it shows just how much this team cares. Dr. Barrera was so kind and patient with our son who was scared and crying the whole time. After we got x-rays, we saw that the crack was severe, and it wasn't going to be a simple patch up and our options would be to *try* to save the tooth with a root canal with the knowledge that it could still crack again, or, we just extract the tooth. The kicker was that our two year old would have to undergo general anesthesia either way. The complication now was to coordinate the procedure, as it generally takes a month to get something on the books. But to us, this was an emergency. It was heartbreaking to watch our son in so much pain, and it had only been 12 hours since the accident! Not sure how we were going to make it a month. But Dr. Barrera worked some magic, and while I'm not sure how he did it, he made time for my son and got an anesthesiologist out the same week! The day of the appointment went smoothly. Even though we knew we were squeezed in, we never once felt like an afterthought. His staff was prepared for us, and everything ran right on time. Both Dr. Barrera and the anesthesiologist talked to us before the procedure, managed our expectations, and again, was gentle and patient with our son. Dr. Barrera had even went out of his way to get a second opinion and talked to us about the possibility of saving our son's tooth, but we didn't want to potentially go under general anesthesia again in the future so we declined. We got a post-op update while our son was in recovery, a follow up appointment scheduled, contact information in case anything was "off" when we got home, as well as a follow up call later that evening to ensure everything was ok. It's been a scary week for all of us, but Dr. Barrera showed us so much empathy and made the best out of a terrible situation. I can't imagine where we'd be without him but thankfully, we don't have to. We can't imagine going anywhere else! read more

Both my kids (4 and 2) had a great experience with Dr. B. The office is full of details that make the kids' visit to the dentist (even the wait time) more enjoyable. Both of my kids even got a ballon! I saw some parents having a hard time convincing their kids to leave (: The location is very accessible and they have their own parking lot. The doctor speaks both English and Spanish, which is a plus for us. They offer a complimentary visit for kids younger than 2; I consider this very generous! I was referred to this office by several of my clients, some who have children with special needs. My 6.5 year old daughter has been to this office a few times now and every single time has been such a positive experience. Ana and office staff are very friendly and the Dr. Adolfo and the hygienists are experienced, professional, friendly, and great with kids. My daughter was a bit anxious with dentists before this, but the doctor has made the visits worry free- even cavity filling visits. She has been completely calm during the entirety of all procedures and that is the absolute best feeling for a parent. I will definitely refer Dr. Adolfo to my clients and friends going forward. Also, the office has the fun bells and whistles (literally the doctor whistles and I think it helps kids to be calm). But yes, train, fish, chickens outside, tv or movies above for the children to watch, and so on. read more

I recently took my two year old to Dr. Barrera for her first dentist appointment. I was so worried she would be very afraid and uncooperative - after all, she only just turned two. But from the get-go, the experience not only went smoothly, but my little one left literally dancing on the way out! She had so much fun! The office staff was so kind and patient with her and Dr. Barrera was just the same. More than that, they had her eagerly engaged. The exam was a breeze for her and all went well. She was so enamored and distracted by all the kid-friendly decor that the office had to offer. She particularly loved Dory and Nemo in the fish tank, as well as her goodie bag, stickers and toy on the way out. I'm so relieved I found a great dentist and team for my little girl. read more

We had a great experience at Dr. Barrera's office! The office itself is very welcoming. They have an awesome aquarium with colorful fishies that my son noticed right away. They also have a fun train table that will keep your littles busy while you wait. Dr. Barrera was simply awesome with our 17 month old. We were expecting a meltdown and stranger danger but our little guy was very cooperative because Dr. Barrera made the experience fun for him. He was able to, and showed us how to brush and floss. I highly recommend Dr. B!!! The office staff and dental assistants are exceptionally kind, caring, and patient. The office is extremely clean and they carefully follow all covid safety procedures. They provide the best dental experience for kids and I'm actually jealous. If I could give 6 stars, I would! We have struggled my 13 yr old's entire life with dental care. Intense anxiety and Aspergers have made simple check-ups and fillings nearly impossible. Dr. Barrera is a miracle worker. Other dentists insisted that full sedation was the only way to do fillings, but Dr. Barrera was extraordinarily patient and careful and managed to do with work without sedation. Dr. Barrera is OVER PRICED! ~ I wanted my daughter to have the experience of a pediatrician and all the kid themed goodies. I think that is what we are paying for. I was talked into paying $2000 to fill some cavities and molar sealants. And two teeth that should have been pulled he said it would be best to root canal and cap. I was so stupid to do this for my 8 year old. Everyone told me just have them pulled they are baby teeth and he just kept telling me it would be better to leave the spaces open for the big teeth to come in. I paid the most money for those two teeth. Literally a few months later one of the teeth he root canaled and caped had an abcess because the big tooth was trying to come down and couldn't. The pain my child in was horrible. Heart wrenching the crying she was. That tooth had to be pulled. That $500 tooth was pulled. WHAT A WASTE of MONEY!! And now the other tooth the big one is coming in and can't push through. Transferred her to my dentist. No more Dr. Barrera. He may be a nice guy but he won't talk about payment with you. He just refers you to the office staff. He has no problem talking about why you should spend money that is not needed. But he won't talk about how you are going to pay for it. Most insurance doesn't pay much for specialty dentists. Check out the pricing and what your insurance will pay before agreeing to any procedures. He is OVERPRICED. Her cleaning was $200.00 out of pocket? A cleaning for me at my dentist was covered by insurance. CRAZY.. read more

I have been going to Dr. B since I can remember. I'm now 24 and still going to a pediatric dentist. I will probably continue going to him until they tell me not to come back because I'm too old. He is very friendly and his staff are great. The receptionist remembers my family each time we walk through the door. They have the TVs in the ceiling with headphones for each separate chair. They have numerous flavors of different toothpastes and fluoride. He never pushes for you to get dental work done unless it is really needed. He's filled my cavities without any incident. read more

Best Dentist ever. I've been a patient of Dr. B for over 18 years! Today was my last appointment with Dr. B because my insurance no longer is covered since I turn 26 in two weeks. The staff is friendly. There are toys, books, and fish tank for entertainment as you wait in the lobby. When called upon, you sit in a comfy chair and is offered headphones to watch tv as you get your procedure done by one of the helpers. Dr. B then comes to check your teeth, gyms, bite, and xrays. If you're a kid, you get to choose a toy/stickers on your way out! Dr.B also provides you with a goodie bag with brand named colgate toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and chapstick. Dr. B and his staff have always been kind to me and my sisters who have been coming here for over 15 years. I will miss them! read more

We took our young daughter, aged 3, to his office and we were impressed by the professionalism, the fun and clean environment and the manner in which my child was treated- with respect and kindness. My kids still miss the TVs in the ceiling at his office -- and I still miss the warmth and efficiency of his office staff.
