Dr. Nitza Tores Alvarez is THE BEST, without a doubt, cardiologist in the Tri-County area. Her…read morestaff is top notch. She saved my husband's life not once but twice because his former cardiologist was mismanaging his care and prescribing medications that he should never have been on for years. It took him having a heart attack in the end April 2020 and another two weeks ago for him to stop using the other cardiologist even though I've been telling him that for the last three years. His condition was worsening every day since January 2018 which is the cause of these heart attacks. The day after she put in a pacemaker in January 2018 she became my cardiologist. A 5 Star rating is not high enough in my opinion. If you do nothing else, please look up her book, Heels vs Ties on Amazon. In her new book, Heels vs Ties, local cardiovascular specialist, Dr. Nitza Alvarez, shares a comprehensive guide for women to help them understand their risk for heart disease, what is important to discuss with their doctors, and empower women to take charge of their health. https://heelsvsties.com

Communication is questionable her office is run by nurse practitioners which can be fine, but when it's my heart we're dealing with and communication gets dicey. It feels a little like the game of telephone, the info is interpreted by others before it gets to md. If they don't have a responsible system of communication there a lot of room for error. If I can't trust the messages I leave are received and or followed up on errors occur. Contact isn't followed through on and I ended being charged for appointments that were previously cancelled. Like having too many cooks in the kitchen. If you can deal with that my belief is Nitza is an excellent cardiologist.

GIVING A ZERO RATING ISN'T POSSIBLE. THAT'S WHY THE ONE STAR…read more I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR S. ATTANTI/CITRUS CARDIOLOGY !! I'd been seeing Dr Attanti at Citrus Cardiology Consultants, 910 Old Camp Rd STE 210, The Villages, FL 32162 since June 2021. Recently and once before I made an afternoon appointment, and Dr Attanti didn't see me. In April 2026, for the second time Dr Attanti over booked his appointments. For the second time on my afternoon appointment, after arriving 15 minutes early, registering, and paying my insurance "co-payment," I waited almost 2 hours before being escorted from the lobby waiting room to an area to be weighed, and then be escorted to a consultation to wait some more. Twenty minutes before that I'd asked the receptionist to inform Dr Attanti that I had to leave for another appoint in 30-mminutes and if Dr Attanti couldn't see me quickly after having waited 90-min (1.5-Hrs) to let me know. The assistant/tech who was leading me to the weight scales said it might be a while before Dr Attanti could see me, as there were others ahead of me waiting in consultation rooms. THIS IS ONLY THE 2ND AFTERNOON APPOINTMENT THAT I'D MADE AND THE 2ND TIME DR ATTANTI OVERBOOKED AND COULDN'T/DIDN'T SEE ME WITHIN 2 HOURS!! I HAD TO LEAVE FOR MY OTHER APPOINTMENT. Not only that, but he and his PAs are always asking me to take, what I believe are unnecessary cardio and lower extremity ultrasounds, after I've had recent "gold standard tests" for cardio and PAD atherosclerosis and they are the cardio-CT scan and the abdominal CTA's with contrast and run-off scans. Gee, I wonder if that's because Citrus cardiology performs ultrasounds in house...meaning there's no outside lab getting the $$$ for doing the ultrasound. Hmmm. I'd previously asked a prior PA of Dr Attanti's why I needed a cardio-ultrasound after just having a cardio-CT with contrast, and she said "...just to have it." REALLY?! In addition, recently, after complaining about intermittent cramp-like pain in my leg and, as Dr Attanti ordered, getting a CT with contrast to check the circulation in my abdomen and legs, I went to see Dr Attanti, 3 weeks later, for a F/U visit to discuss the results of the CT and a carotid artery ultrasound. BUT Dr Attanti hadn't gotten the CT report or the video of the test! My scheduled 4-week F/U visit was waisted, my insurance and insurance "co-payment" were wasted, and Dr Attanti's PA's time was waisted. UNACCEPTABLE! TO REPEAT, THE DR ATTANTI SENT ME TO GET A VERY EXPENSIVE TEST (CT) AND SCHEDULED A F/U VISIT 4-WEEKS LATER TO DISCUSS THE CT TEST RESULTS WITH ME, AND HE DIDN'T OBTAIN THE TESTS RESULTS WHICH WERE AVAILABLE 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE F/U HE SCHEDULED! THEREFORE, I CAN NOT RECOMMEND DR S. ATTANTI OR CITRUS CARDIOLOGY !!

This practice does have at least one good Dr but unfortunately their communication is beyond…read morehorrible. I agree that one star is too many for this practice and if your considering them I would think long and hard before putting yourself through the frustration. They use a call center for all calls, which is located outside the US. The Dr doesn't get the messages and the practice is very slow to get back to you. I addressed the issues with the practice directly and was given a portal and a text # and still have yet to get a response back weeks later. We have been waiting for over two weeks to get a procedure scheduled. If my parents didn't really like the Dr I would have already left the practice. The Dr said all the patients complain about the communication but apparently they aren't doing anything to make improvements.

They at least consult with her so this is not the reason for the bad review. The reason for the bad review is scheduling. If you miss an appointment, they charge you $50 but if they screw up not even a I'm sorry. Here is my recent experience. They have two offices. I had a procedure scheduled for the Summerield office. I got an appointment reminder call that left a message saying it was at the Leesburg office. So I called the office and confirmed that it was in the Leesburg office. So I went to the Leesburg office and it was closed. So I called and he acted surprised, asked around and they said it was at the Summerield office and I needed to go there. I said it will take me 1/2-1 hr and he said he would let them know. So I drive to the Summerield office and when I showed up, they said my appointment had been rescheduled. So I wasted over an hour driving back and forth for nothing. Who knows if they will get the office right next time. I can call and confirm but obviously that does not mean anything. No accountability. One of my complaints about doctors is their time is super valuable but yours is not. If anyone knows a good Cardiologist in The Villages, please let me know.

I looked on MyChart to confirm what I already knew. I went back and forth with her billing department. finally I spoke to someone that works with the hospital and to my surprise, she knew the doctor personally. she called and spoke with her and I was informed when I called thw office back, that thw bill was set to $0.00 owed. of course! bc I never saw the doctor. this all started at the end of July. it is thw end of oct and I am still fighting with her billing department to send me a zero balance paper, proving thw bill was erased. the billing department is refusing to send it!! simply bc of the interactions I've had with her billing department, unless I have ZERO other choice, I would never use her office or see her in the hospital, or anyone else from her team.
