I have dental insurance plus a supplement. I was told that because I had an outstanding bill for a minimal amount that had been sent to collections (of which I was unaware but offered to pay immediately) they were unable to schedule me. Even after offering to pay the bill immediately I was told I was kicked out as a patient and could never be seen there AGAiN. I have always had a good experience with the STAFF there, they are great. FCD is a chain corporate business that has always felt a little scammy, but the Stoughton staff kept me coming back. Sadly because of some ridiculous corporate policy I need to take my business elsewhere. I am a healthcare worker myself and am very aware that this industry is for profit; just disappointing to see even local dental offices turning away loyal patients (or rather, "customers").

The hygienists are financially incentivized by production, so they make more if they can sell you a…read moreproduct or service. This should have no place in healthcare or dental care. I was told this by a hygienist who worked there. I went to the Fitchburg office for 19 years. Great care during that time but year 20 will not be a good fit. I am refusing a recommendation for deep cleaning around some pockets in my gums. I want to continue with the superficial cleaning to keep the remainder of my teeth healthy. They do not allow patient choice on this. I HAVE to get the deep clean or get my cleaning elsewhere. So year 20 will begin with a new dentist.

I was first evaluated…read moreat Urgent Care in Madison and they said that I needed to be evaluated further at an Emergency Room, due to my severe abdominal pain. The only test that I was offered at the Stoughton ER was a blood test, which showed significant abnormalities, yet I was told the blood tests were fine and I could follow up with my physician if I didn't feel better the following day. I had expected an ultrasound or other imaging, but was told that was not necessary. They sent me home. After experiencing excruciating pain the entire night, I scheduled an appointment with my doctor's office and was quickly diagnosed with acute appendicitis the following day. My surgery was then handled at St. Mary's in Madison, where the level of care was so much better. I write this in hopes that Stoughton Hospital will make some changes to improve services or at the very least, to warn others that there are better options. I would recommend avoiding Stoughton Hospital, even though the convenience may be tempting.

When I called to make an appointment the soonest that I could get into St. Mary's was April. I then called the Stoughton Hospital. They asked me if I could come in the next day to talk to the Surgeon. Dr. Schwaab was great. I decided to have the surgery done. 10 days later It was all done. I spent four days in the hospital and the staff was great. Dr. Schwaab visit with me in the morning and late afternoon every day. This was 1st class care and I felt very safe and comfortable. Highly recommend the Stoughton Hospital!

My mom's 18th birthday present back in the day was a full set of upper dentures. I have an older sibling who has dentures. Ugh. So I sucked it up and headed here upon the recommendation of my dentist to increase the upkeep on my still kinda pearly Irish chompers. Dr. Joe is a really nice guy. I did some research on him and found out he went to Harvard, which, if you mention it, he waves away as though it's nothing. He and his staff were very careful to explain everything that was going on, and what I needed to have done, while tedious, was not bad at all to deal with. They are great about keeping on you about checking in with how you are doing as you heal up. Other than it seems like most patients I've seen are at least 20 years older than me, and are being picked up after their appointments by their children while I can still drive, I am adjusting to the fact that there is no shame to getting some additional dental help. It's even kind of cute seeing all these who are around the age my parents would be if they were still around.
