Sadly a storm took out the electricity to the toy house and he isn't permitted to fix it because the electric is connected to the house and the town said he has to upgrade all the electric in the house, which he and his wife don't have the means for right now. When he had electricity a lot of the toys would move and contraptions on the property had lights and water on some of them. The toys stretch back to the 1940s. Definitely a trip down memory lane. The gentleman who owns it is very nice and came out to give us a tour and pointed out the many puns related to the displays. The little general store his grandparents ran back in the early half of the 1900s is still standing and full of interesting memorabilia and artifacts. It's donations only, no cost, but the man and his wife can use the help. If you're not a fan of weird junk art and old toys, you probably wouldn't like it. We spent about 45 minutes there.

This was right across from a hop-on hop-off stop, but nobody mentioned it and I almost missed it. They have a pretty diverse array of items on display ranging from old artifacts of the civil war, old police memorabilia and clothing a furniture from the last century. Overall, a very interesting and well documented collection and deserving of more attention. The staff person was extremely welcoming and warm and made me feel right at home. If you have just a few minutes to spare or a bit more, take the opportunity to check out this little museum. It is the in the middle of the Market place and it looks for all the world like an old train station. You need to enter on the second street side.

You will also find restrooms, vending machines, and a gift shop. If you are looking to learn about the natural and cultural history of the area, including the legacy of the people who lived "between the rivers" and the construction of the Tennessee and Cumberland River dams that formed the Land Between the Lakes,you will enjoy the small museum. We did not stay for the Planetarium show as we arrived too early . Definitely a good place to stop since this area is huge!

The Good: *Admission is $16 ($14 seniors and vets) for the museum and tour or $8 for just the museum. *Some nice displays in the museum of historic rail antiquities. *Friendly staff *Touring the rail cars is always fascinating, and they've done a great job refurbishing and keeping them in good shape. The Meh: *Smallish souvenir shop to pick up a few gifts and/or souvenirs for train lovers. The Ugly: *Touring the rail car in the summer is just a downright awful experience. I mean, they try their best to cool off the trains with AC, but it's like spitting into the wind. I was schvitzing more than a turkey in November. TLDR: Not the best train museum I've ever visited--and I've visited a LOT--but it was a good way to kill a few hours and didn't break the bank.

He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Tilghman family as well as the key role Paducah played because of it's location at the confluence of the Tennessee, Cumberland, and Ohio rivers and relative proximity to the Mississippi River. Logistics is always a key component of military success. Back in that time, the rivers were a key means to move large amounts of men and materiel. We learned much about Paducah's role in the war and saw many interesting artifacts. If you're interested in Civil War history, this museum is worth a visit if you're in Paducah.

The National Corvette Museum is an awesome automobile museum with something for everyone! There is handicap parking up front and when you walk into the entrance, there are already several Corvette's on display. Some of them are actually being raffled off and tickets for the raffles can be purchased at the museum. The entrance area also has two race car simulators where you can safely experience the thrill of driving a race car Corvette. There are senior discounts and military discounts (veterans and active duty) available so make sure you inform them prior to purchasing your tickets. Inside the museum is a journey through the past to the evolution of the Corvette! There are many classic Corvettes, Corvettes that were race cars, prototype Corvettes, and even celebrity owned Corvettes! There's a lot of history in this museum and they even talk about a sinkhole event that happened at the museum in 2014 and steps taken to recover the beloved cars! Some cars amazingly came out in great condition, but others suffered irreparable damage! This museum is just a real celebration of one of America's most beloved sports cars! Take a look, take photos, but go visit if you have a chance! There are guided tours we were told, but many people choose to just self tour the museum on their own! You even get a wristband, so if you don't complete the museum tour in the morning, you can come back in the afternoon and complete your tour. Overall, it's a very fun, interactive, and enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend!!

Kiddos got to sit in the corvette demo car (it's a simulated ride at the far end of the lobby before you enter the museum exhibits). There were new corvettes on display in the lobby, as those were the cars that new owners were going to pick up directly from the museum. Once admission is paid, you enter the exhibit area to learn about the history of the corvette and there's even an interactive area for kids to design their car and see it live on the jumbo screen. We walked into their iconic Skydome, which was awesome to visit. There is also an archives library that you can go into, there are some pens available to take home as a souvenir if you'd like. A large gift shop was on site, so we picked up a magnet!

This 1905 Franklin County Jail Museum is a very interesting walk through Benton's history…read more Featuring one of the last public executions in Illinois of Charlie Berger, this museum has original noose, weapons, newspaper articles and other historical documentation. When you walk into the house, you enter a beautiful, classic early 1900s home. A very welcoming home with reconstructed living room and kitchen. Prepare to be surprised! It is only when you near the back of the house that you find the white, rusted heavy iron door. Open this door and you enter a cold, dark realm that even Tim Burton couldn't recreate. Perhaps a hundred years for rusting and paint chipping contributes to the overall gloom. These are the prison cells that inspire modern day fiction. All the windows have bars. And the view from the outermost window is of the gallows. These gallows have been recreated in the position they originally stood. There are multiple rooms of cells which you can enter and take photos of. Don't use the toilets, though. They are a bit old. :) Escape back into the semblance of normalcy of the house and head upstairs to take in additional Benton history. The normal bathroom is up there: very clean. When the Beatles FIRST came to America, this is where they played. The museum curator stated that she was a young girl when they arrived: "We had no idea who they were...They weren't known in America at the time, but we all hurried to get a look. We didn't end up seeing them though." There is civil war paraphernalia and an autographed photo of town local John Malkovich. I highly recommend this location! The curator is very knowledgeable and friendly. The location is a few miles off the nearby highway.
