Completely unreliable and shady company. Will lie about your system's capability to get a signature, then not reply once they get money. They overcharged for promised functionality that doesn't exist, quietly signed me up for a multi-year contract I didn't agree to, then promptly ignored me. Don't bother with contacting the email address in the reply to this review; they'll outright tell you they're fine with their representatives using these tactics, and you're out of luck. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I am an almost ten‑year customer of ADT, with service at two business locations and my home. We recently vacated one of our businesses and needed to relocate our CCTV cameras from that location to our second business, where we already have ADT service but no cameras. This should have been a simple request. For context: We purchased this camera system from ADT last year, spending over $3,000 on the upgrade. The cameras are still under contract, as the cost was absorbed into our monthly bill. As of today, ADT tells me the remaining balance owed is $2,014.83. On December 22, 2025, a representative named Eric Hardesty from the South Bend office visited my new location to review the camera relocation. The visit went well. I was told everything was approved and that he would submit a service ticket to have the cameras relocated. Then nothing happened. An entire month passed with no communication from Eric or ADT. No scheduling. No follow‑up. When I began calling ADT for a status update, I discovered that no notes had been entered on my account. That's when the real frustration began. During my first call, I was transferred to at least ten different people over the course of an hour. Every time I was transferred, I had to re‑verify my account and re‑explain the entire situation. This is a simple camera relocation request, yet I received no resolution. I eventually hung up out of sheer exhaustion. I tried again the next day. Same result. Another hour wasted. Still no help. I then obtained Eric Hardesty's direct cell number (574‑532‑3211). I called, left a voicemail, and sent a text message. He read the text and chose not to respond. I tried again on Friday, then again Monday morning (January 26). Still no response. This morning, I finally reached an account manager named Andre. He was polite and listened. I told him I was prepared to cancel all ADT services at all three locations. He offered two months of account credits if I allowed him to help resolve the issue. He assured me this was a "very simple process" and that I would not be transferred again. I agreed. He placed me on hold. Five minutes later, someone else picked up the line: "Hello, thank you for calling ADT. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking with today?" Unbelievable. Andre was gone. No explanation. No callback. No handoff. At this point, I had already been on the phone over 40 minutes again, starting from scratch. I refused to repeat myself and asked to cancel my services. After being transferred yet again, I was informed that I cannot cancel without paying an early termination fee of $2,014.83 because the cameras are still under contract. Let me be clear: ADT is demanding over $2,000 because they failed to relocate the cameras, failed to document anything, failed to communicate, and wasted nearly three hours of my time. No notes. No callbacks. No accountability. This is how ADT treats an almost ten‑year, loyal, on‑time paying customer. Never again, ADT. Never again. If you are considering home or business security, do not use ADT. There are many other options available. Use a local company. Support smaller businesses that value their customers. If a minus star system was available they would get a negative rating. Back story... The system I had installed was for an investment home that the agent knew we would sell within 90 days of installation. From there we discussed how many homes we would do a year and even how we would either include the first year cost in the sale of the home to transfer the system to new owners or just have new owners transfer before closing and pay themselves for new service. Safe Haven rep even shared best practices for investors and gave me name and number of the Safe Haven rep who would help transfer service. Fast forward to when we were closing on the house. In June this summer (2023) we started working with a Safe Haven rep who was the mediator and got service switched to new owners. I have emails and texts from Eric stating all services were changes and my account was closed.. Well, it didn't get closed. Twice I contacted Eric's supervisor who told me in October to deal with it... you may be thinking well, the writer of this reviews a jerk. May be but you need to read my emails and texts. Pretty professional and polite... I have made contact with ADT and they are facilitating getting the service truly closed and getting credits. Good on them. Today (11/22/2023) I get an email from Safe Haven that states since I terminated service early I owe them $1000. I respond with contract, emails from Eric that the service was transferred and new owners were paying the service. Safe Haven rep replies, "you still need to call customer service to pay early termination fees". ADT rep replies back stating service is still on and new owners are paying. Then asked if this was standard procedure to charge when a transfer of service was successful. No response. In all. I have 12 texts, over 20 emails where Safe Haven and ADT admit service was transferred and therefore I don't owe early termination fees. They also admit they owe me a credit for the last 4 months, over $200! I cannot say exactly what the ADT rep said to me about Safe Haven but she eluded to illegal acts of business and actively make it hard for people to terminate service. My suggestion, don't use them. The system may be decent but the service you will receive is horrible. BUYER BEWARE! read more

We have had an ADT alarm system for 25+ years. We decided to upgrade our system. we had an appt at 8am this morning. He showed up at 9:30am. it's now 7:15pm and the guy is still hooking this up. Had to take a vacation day due to the incompetence of the installer. my Husband did most of the work. He had to actually change things on this guys computer for him. we had to have an electrician come in and rewire our thermostat. Why in the world would you send one person to do a job for at least 2 people? I am not kidding this poor old man looks to be 90 years old. At 5;30pm when I got home, my house was a total disaster! He had opened boxes and trash laying everywhere plus dryeall chips all over my floors. Whar a mess!! If we would have known how this was going to go we would have gone with a different company! My alarm system was installed a little over 2 years ago now I'm having problems with the door sensors falling off. The sensors were installed with double stick tape I try putting them back up only for them to fall off again. If adt would have installed them right to begin with using the 2 screw holes with their would be know problems. I was told by adt that I would be Sent new tape to fix them with it is going to take 7 days to receive the tape so I will have know alarm for 7 days. read more

Great installation years ago. Decided to cancel after years of overpaying to find a cheaper system. Already went through the cancellation call after discussion of options. Kept getting calls from them. Finally answered to stop the calls. The agent would just not give up despite saying that I did not want to continue service and that we have already cancelled. Said I did not want to discuss cancellation and did not have time for the call, did not want a call at a later time. No, charging me a third of the price I previously paid wasn't changing my mind either. We had already been through this. Was overly aggressive and overtly made me feel bad about cancelling. There's a way to do your job, and that is not it. Makes me hate the company. Having customer service agents behave that desperately and rudely is not the way to keep business. Our first encounter with ADT ,is when the system became non functional. The technician came out,checked everything and said that there was no problems. The second technician came out to tell us that our control panel was not functioning correctly,got a new one. Also found out that the reason that our outside fire alarm was not even connected. The third technician came to replace the connector to one or more of the alarms to doors and windows. Of which keep falling off. Then I find out ,once I am in the process of cancelling this service,that the discount for improper equipment that they had given us,has signed another 2 year contract. Mind you,I never signed,or verbally agreed to another 2 years of crappy service and $55 a month for sending me an email when our alarm was going off. They did NOT follow social distancing rules when entering house. They did not seem to know what ADT had to offer in conjunction with existing security. The guy that came out was NOT knowledgeable at all! DO NOT USE in Southwest Michigan! read more
