They also support all different types of dietary requirements, including gluten free, vegan, raw and paleo. Once you make your way through the entry door at the end of the alley, the cafe opens out and up. It almost feels like a garden party at your eclectic aunt's house. It feels fun and buzzes with chatter and energy. Table service is friendly and attentive but not at all intrusive. As well as a menu of regular favourites, there is always a substantial specials menu. Vegan and gluten free options are well marked. The smoothies and juices come served in mason jars with handles and wide straws. The serve is large enough to have you sipping before, during and after your meal. Local favourite Goodiesons Beers are also available, as well as organic wine from Battle of Bosworth. The wait for meals is under ten minutes, even when it is very busy. To pass the time there are cookbooks to browse or card games on the tables to keep you entertained. Mr Wino's green curry looked really impressive, with fat, fresh prawns (tails on) and a mixture of black & basmati rice. The sauce was flavoursome with Thai basil, a hint of chilli and lime juice and the veggies still had bite. The Veggie Slice special was a frittata of sweet potato & zuchinni plus black rice. It was a large serve and tasty napped with a generous portion of basil sauce. The side salad was napped with tasty balsamic dressing and a crunchy seed & pepita mix. The choc-orange cheesecake is raw and vegan and totally delightful. A date & nut base gives way to a so smooth chocolatey interior and a rich choc-orange ganache scattered with cocoa nibs. From there he is a perfect host: polite, charming and lightly theatrical. I had the mint tea - sweet and refreshing and just what I needed to help the meaty chakchouka on its way. I love the shelves laden with jar after jar of freshly preserved lemons. Enticingly richly coloured spices including the all important base for Moroccan cuisine ras el hanout , cook books and Moroccan culinary aids aim to have us recreating the tastes of Marrakech at home. You can also get the low down on how to make authentic tagines or Moroccan mint tea from the wonderfully generous staff. However if like me you are tempted by the ready prepared, you will be in seventh heaven. It is very hard to walk by and not be swayed by the gorgeous earthenware bowls crammed with dips glistening with olive oil, olives, the freshest salads or bite sized kofta. Sit yourself at the candle lit mini bar (seats 4-6) colourfully tiled with what else but Moroccan tiles and enjoy a tasting plate for lunch of an early Friday night dinner. Close your eyes for a second and be transported to a far away land, take a deep breath and smell the spices of a desert country. Specializing in Morroccan cuisine, Taste of Marrakech stocks a broad variety of fresh and exotic spices, such as sumac, dry harrissa and rasel hanout which sit elegantly in large tubs and have a great aesthetic appeal and an iccredible aroma. In addition, Taste of Marrakesh has some incredible dips and the aforementioned chili sauce, perhaps the best in the land, as well as prepared meals to be cooked at home.

My Mum and I love to sample everything, and there isn't really much we don't like. So we of course went for the Shashlik Platter. It comes with three different styles of Shashlik, hummus, baba ganoush, home-made pickles, tabouli, salad with crispy pita, spiced rice and garlic sauce. All of that for $24.90! So awesome! We actually thought it would be smaller, so we ordered a plate of falafels as well. And yes, we definitely had stuff to take home. My fave on the platter was the hummus, pickles & chicken shashlik. As for the last time I dined, I said I was very hungry and they charged 4 people $25 each. Bargain! Inclusive of the banquet menu is free BYO. So, what you have to do then is hop out of your seat, run across the road to the Rosemont Hotel street bottle shop and grab something to drink. Or bring something along with you; depends how prepared you are. What you do need to prepare for is the amazing dishes served your way. Now, this is homely traditional Jewish food. So you will be given hummus, tabouli, falafels, koftas, green beans, battered fried cauliflower, etc... But this is the best quality you can get. The Hummus is seasoned perfect with the right amount of acidity. The tabouli is super fresh and delightful. You just want a endless plate of Koftas. The beans are served with a tomato sauce that you need to dip your pita bread in. The Cauliflower has a spiced taste and is cooked perfectly without being broken down and heavy with batter. I could go on and on. As for the service, it is fast. This restaurant is used to being busy, so they produce the food quickly and will continue bringing it out until your table is filled with mouth watering selections. As for the décor, don't let it put you off. It is not about the aesthetics here, it is about the food. I think that this restaurant has looked the same in the last 30+ years. I've heard this place called an Adelaide institution more than once - and it sure has been around…read morelonger than I remember. It also looks like it has been around longer than I remember - the place is a little worn, but not gloomy. Like many restaurants that have been around long enough to become an 'institution' in Adelaide, the staff are a little aloof. Actually I think Jerusalem House are almost more famous for the bad service than for the food, but that somehow makes it even more charming, in a Black Books kinda way. I prefer aloof to obsequious, although once they did forget to bring my table any form of cutlery whatsoever. One of the waiters is a ten-year old kid, he is less gruff, more cute. I'm reasonably happy to put my complaints about the service aside, because 1) perfect service makes me feel even more uncomfortable and 2) the food is worth coming back for. It's definitely not fancy, and the portions are regular-sized, not huge, but there is something about it that makes me want to eat it again and again. I would suspect MSG but I think it is more likely to be tahini. Personal favourites: fresh lemon juice (almost too natural, I usually water mine down a little, makes it go further anyway), the rice with lentils and yoghurt (it has a proper name, I forget), and the tahini cauliflower. The cauliflower is so good that my boyfriend made up an imitation recipe that is pretty damn close to the original. I keep buying cauliflowers and leaving them around the kitchen as a hint. I forgot to mention the ceiling has a hilarious imitation tent roof made out of Hessian bags.
