Theater food prices are what they are...overpriced...but that is the same in every theater. It's how they make their profit. Understood. And if you sign up for their newsletter/email you get discount offers pretty regularly. I also enjoy the recliner theaters and being able to pick your seats ahead of time. Staff is always courteous and friendly and helpful, and there is usually a decent selection of movies. Overall a 4 outta 5 experience everytime.

The theater itself isn't having the money put into it that it should. I was in the mega screen and the speaker constantly crackled. The seats are grimy looking and feeling, they need a good cleaning. To top it off the bathrooms were dirty. Hope that maybe AMC will build a new theater in cedar falls or Waterloo sometime.

The theatre I grew up with had 20 screens, and it was surrounded by a plaza of food and activities. Gladbrook theater is still the coolest movie theater I've ever been to. Ever. Yeah, I suppose you could say it's because it was novel to me. It was cute and quaint, and the fact that it only shows one movie at a time is funny... but that's not what was so cool. What's cool is that the little town in the middle of corn fields and air decided they wanted a theater, and they did it. It's run by volunteers, and it's probably only frequented by the people who live near the town, but it's awesome. The place was clean, the snacks were cheap, and the movie selection for the night I was in town was perfect. I saw Wreck It Ralph in a little theater on a cold snowy night in Gladbrook, Iowa, with my boyfriend and two other awesome guys, one of whom was wearing a Teemo hat. Pretty great memory, I should think. I do think, in fact. If you live near here and you haven't stopped by, you really should. This place is great and definitely needs to be supported.

I think most of the town was there to see it. It's a small town ..so go figure. With prices like $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for kids...who wouldn't want to go to a movie. I felt like I went back in time....like 70 years. The theatre was a bit dated and old, but it's still pretty clean and neat...minus the smells of cow manure from some old farmers boots. Old wood floors and unique theatre decore. The seats are not the most comfortable. Popcorn is pretty cheap compared to the other Big time movie theatres...and..it tasted pretty good too. So of your ever in the area...go and support this little local movie theatre.

Okay, price point out of the way, now on to the rave. First - this is a real, old, big, one-screen movie theatre from the days when the movies were something special. The facade is a gorgeous example those days, its geometric, restrained 1930s style a joy to behold. Inside, the original light fixtures and fittings remain. The floor is HARDWOOD PLANKS. Modern, comfy seats fit perfectly with the style and ambiance, having been chosen with care. An original dairy wall clock hangs in one of the back exit hallway doors. Popcorn is on offer in front at the snackbar. The place is filled with kids and families. There's even a (very) stern usher, who polices the place for cell phones and contraband! The show starts every night at 7:00pm (a sign hanging by the box office window tells you when the show will let out) and my family confirms it is always packed. Gotta confess I got a bit of a lump in my throat, seeing all those people gathered downtown, hanging out and seeing the show together, having a bit of a real, old-time American home town experience. The bathrooms were tore up and filthy as well. The projector clearly had issues as the movie was darkening around the edges the entire time and having trouble with movements on screen. Lastly, and the worst, the theatre room itself smelled so bad upon entering. It smelled like a gym locker room. We realized quickly it was the chairs themselves. The upholstery smelled so gross. Like old sweat soaked in over years. The smell was on our clothes when we got home. We understand places theatres get dirty from customers, but this is not normal. I really hope cleanliness is improved and improvements are made. We will not return.

This small town, local movie theater is a gem. It's not a modern multi screen, but it brings recent…read morereleases and, with the pandemic disruption, older releases to our local audience. While it is an old theater, it has been well maintained. The lobby is clean, bright and features a concession stand with expected treats of candy, popcorn and soft drinks. Seats in the theater are traditional theater seats, not what you'd find in a new building. But they are comfortable enough and in good repair. Admission prices are great! Since the theater is a non-profit operation with concessions run by volunteers, prices are low for admission and reasonable for concessions. Example, tickets for seniors are $3.00 and have been for years. Even with an increase, admission is a bargain! Movies change weekly on Friday, petty standard in the industry. Hours have been cut back following the pandemic closing. Currently show times are Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening, Sunday matinee and late afternoon. Live in Manchester or the area? Put the Castle Theater in your entertainment schedule.
