If I could give -1 star I would. Do not go to these people, even if you're desperate. They will…read moretwist their info on rates, which should be illegal, and screw you over. You'll end up paying an insane amount if you can ever actually pay it off. The interest is daily, that should tell you something right away. They prey on those with poor credit. Their rate itself should be illegal but for some reason the state of TN is okay with these despicable people. There's a special place in hell for those who work for them.

Terrible service and absolutely idiotic verification department that literally tries not to cash your check the only reason I used advance was the Time of night I was needing to cash said checks and I always try to do business with local small business because that's what I am but after the 3rd check and 3rd try I will never be back again. Time is something I value to much to waste it standing there waiting to be put through the 3rd degree about every detail and ink drop on my checks. Not a helpful or kind establishment but when this company loses enough money due to employees over stepping their bounds and not being there for their customers and having little to no customer service skills that's when I believe this company will see the err of their business values and their employees but like most small businesses with small visions it will be when they are closing their doors and like magic they will finally close something besides their eyes and it might just open them up for the first time. From this day forward I will tell everyone and anyone who ask what a terrible belittling experience advance financial put me through for absolutely no reason because guess what their verification department was wrong in their assumptions and I bet I'm not the first nor will I be the last person they chose to do this way so just think twice before believing their company motto which is we always say yes. More often they say no and that's thanks to the wanna be cops they call a verification department and the only verification they were correct about was my own verification that these employees were not there to say yes they were there to do everything they could to say No. If I were owner of this business and FDIC backed I would fire the so called verification department and take all that money saved and invest in customer service training for the store front employees or cop wanna be's because if they were good investigators they would not be working as a check teller so tell them not to quit their day jobs. Ugh rant over.

Deposit accounts aside (which are fairly similar to other offerings in the area), y'all helped me build my credit by taking a chance with me. Following bankruptcy TVA in Alcoa granted me a secured credit card and share loan to improve my ability to borrow. I steadily went from secured lending to an unsecured card with plenty of purchasing power. In my times of great hardship TVA has been there for me. I have had two car accidents following my first car loan with them. Caroline Rule extended credit for another car prior to the insurance payoff on both occasions so that I could get on the road again. Just yesterday I was helped out again. My wife and I have been seriously stressing out because of her high interest car loan with a predatory lender. Compounding these woes were the high rate insurance was charging us. I am an independent insurance agent by trade, and even I could not get her a lower rate (It's hard to insure anyone at a fair cost in her situation and even though I work with over 20 carriers only 3 would take on her class of risk). So I went to TVA and spoke with Caroline Rule again. She was able to get our monthly payments down to almost half of what they were because of the much lower interest rate TVA charges. As a benefit of adding my name to the title, I was able to add her and the car to my car insurance policy saving us 75% on insurance alone. Needless to say, today I am elated, grateful and so relieved. Just one negative experience in my four years with them: There's a man, either an assistant manager or loan officer (not sure), who did my motorcycle loan application. During the application he connected to the call center to get the application approved Normally they would ask a manager to sign off on it and be done with it. While doing this his behavior and tone gave me a judgmental feeling. Also while asking for a credit line increase later he did the same thing.. and was very rude about it. He also pressured me into buying a loan product (income debt protection) which I understood to be $15 flat, but instead it was $15 monthly. This experience, however, will not sway me from TVA as in general they have been so good to me. Today as far as credit products I have two car loans, a motorcycle loan, a credit card, and a business credit card. I have both personal and business deposit accounts (regular shares and checking). Also I use a separate share under a POA to manage a family member's finances while they are unable to do so. There's even a jump start savings share for each of my two children. I am beyond satisfied and grateful for my relationship with TVA. I encourage each of you who are undecided to sign up for membership. You will not regret it.

The worst part of this ordeal is not paying my bills. Netflix and Hulu have stopped my movies. Amazon has denied any items that I ordered including much needed underwear and socks. So I don't have any food except junk I can buy from a junk machine - food I don't eat except in times like these!
