Love the staff at this facility! I've recently started coming here again after a few-years hiatus. Although I'm relatively a lot younger than most of their clients, I have a lot of serious permanent disabilities that play off each other with a domino effect. I love this place! I have been going twice a week for my shoulder and now hand mobility/control. I've been having shoulder issues since 2005 in the service, and right side mobility issues in my hand since my stroke in august 2018. I'm just NOW starting to feel better since I have been seeing alexander. No military medical professional could figure my shoulder out (or didnt take the time to understand) for the entirety of my service. Alexander figured it out in one appointment and it made SO much sense. The staff is great, and very understanding. They are professional and pleasant to work with. My daughter has leg issues and we plan on having her see a therepist there as well! read more

A complete and terrible waste of time and a bigger waste of money. I went in a few weeks ago as recommended by my doctor and was told that my insurance should cover it, aside from a copay. Then at the desk the lady, who barely paid any attention to me as I waited for assistance, gave me papers to fill out and told me that all the sessions are $80 and aren't covered by insurance. Because I've been in a lot of pain, I decided to go ahead and try it out. My practitioner was actually very nice but the rest of the staff seemed very young, inexperienced, and unprofessional. They were not taking COVID-19 procedures seriously at all. When I was done with a fairly mediocre therapy session I walked up to the counter. The lady at the front desk didn't even notice me because she was talking to her coworkers and making fun of people who were calling to cancel because of COVID-19. I stood there for literally minutes as she talked and talked until one of her coworkers alerted her that I was needing something. She then was super rude and dismissive, asking if I needed anything... I was like, uh, I was told to set another appt. she was very aggressive and strange and said that if I didn't come 3x a week that it was a waste. She scoffed when I said I could only afford once a week. I was completely shocked and felt a little humiliated except for the fact that I really wasn't impressed with her ability to do her job either so I didn't take it too personally. She seemed like a very unhappy, bitter person. Anyway, weeks go by and I get a bill for $250. -$135 for a 20 min evaluation (basically walking around for the therapist.) -$110 for a 15 min exercise on the bike (literally just sitting on one of the machines while the therapist watched.) and -$30 for Electric Stimulation (which was just sitting for 10 mins in a dark room with a little stem machine attached to me.) There were some random adjustments to make the bill $125.26 but this was still waaaaaaaay more expensive than what I was told before I checked in. I was also told I was going to be given an evaluation before anything to make sure that this would help my pain. I am completely shocked and horrified that a company can mock people for being concerned about a pandemic, hire employees that care more about gossip than their patients, openly mock patients for their inability to afford what was supposed to be $240 a week for therapy but according to this bill would be $750, and flat out lie to patients about the cost in order to nickel and dime them for things they could easily do at home. (And all of this with no guarantee that it would actually help my sciatica!!) It is completely disgusting and disappointing. I would avoid this place at all costs. Any other wellness center has to be better than this. ------------------------------- UPDATE AND RESPONSE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE. I have called over 5 times to the office to get this mess figured out. Each time I call, they tell me that there is one woman who deals with billing and that she is gone for the day. Then they tell me that she will be calling me back. I'll start by saying DO NOT trust these people! They are only out to charge you more than what is agreed upon, and to take advantage of you due to your injury and pain. The 1 star is for the actual therapy treatment given by Alexander Howe - my husband reported that he was professional and friendly, great to work with and seemed to genuinely care about trying to rid my husband of his chronic back pain. Other than that, these people deserve 0/5 stars - patients beware! The lack of professionalism & integrity of the business in general that we experienced, especially from the director Kim Tompkins, should steer anyone and everyone away from seeking treatment at Advance Therapy in Bryan, TX. Here's our story... In order to qualify for back surgery, my husband's insurance carrier required that he receive a series of physical therapy sessions prior to having surgery. His physician ordered 2-3 sessions a week for a total of 6 weeks, and sent him over to Advance Therapy. After his initial consultation on 2/11/21, he was scheduled for 2 sessions a week starting 2/22/21 with a copay for each session of $55 that apparently was billed on a global billing plan. With this in mind, his last session should have been on 4/1/21 to complete the 6 week treatment plan. I called their office on 3/19/21, spoke to Carolyn White, the receptionist, and made a payment for the full 12 copays in the amount of $330. Despite the fact that my husband's treatment plan clearly prescribed a total of 6 weeks worth of therapy, the staff at Advance Therapy continued to schedule sessions for my husband for an additional 3 weeks - a total of 6 additional sessions that were not intended to be a part of his treatment and were not authorized explicitly by my husband. Being a working man and losing track of time, assuming the staff was following the guidelines of his treatment plan, my husband continued to attend the sessions since he continued to receive the appointment reminders. I called their office on 4/27/21 and spoke to a different receptionist, Christie Lloyd and asked her why they were continuing to schedule appointments for my husband after his prescribed treatment period had ended. She apologized, and said that they just assumed he wanted the 18 sessions since the original plan from the doctor said "2-3 sessions a week for 6 weeks". I pointed out that my husband had scheduled 2 appointments a week, as was evidenced by his billing and attendance history, and had already met the 6 week treatment plan period. She apologized for the misunderstanding, and said she would have him taken off the schedule (since apparently there were STILL scheduling appointments for him). I made it very clear that I would NOT be paying for any additional sessions over and above the 12 prepaid sessions for the 6 week treatment plan, and she said she would have it taken care of. Low and behold, we received a bill dated 5/25/21 for $386 for the additional 6 sessions PLUS a copay for the consultation! I called and spoke to Kim Tompkins, who is apparently the director & was very rude and condescending. She took zero responsibility for the fact that her staff ignored the set duration of the treatment plan outlined by the physician's orders, and that according to her records my husband still needed more treatment. I told her that the orders were very clear, 2 sessions a week for 6 weeks, which had been scheduled on a weekly basis starting 2/22/21 for the full 6 week period, and that his treatment should have ceased after the 12th session. I also made it very clear when I called to pay for the 12 sessions in advance on 3/19/21 that his treatment plan should not exceed 12 sessions, and Carolyn confirmed this information over the phone that day. In the end Kim Thompkins said, "Services were rendered, payment is due." I told her that we shouldn't be held responsible for her staff's incompetence or for them taking advantage of my husband, and she ended up hanging up on me. I called back to talk to her again, and she hung up on me again! I called a third time to collect her full information, and told her I would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. *Disclaimer: This review is not regarding the therapy services offered but the gym membership services and staff members. This is a physical therapy center that offers a gym membership to the general public, however a lot more thought needs to go into this service and how to better it for their paying non-patient/"second class" clientele. 1. The 1st incident was the Friday before July 4th when I arrived 20 minutes until closing time to meet my mom for our regularly scheduled workout. A staff member greeted me. As I was entering the pool, the same staff members felt the need to come to the pool area and make me aware that the facility will be closing in 20 minutes. I informed her I was aware of their hours and when they closed. (This was the regular scheduled time of our workouts). We felt that it was very distasteful to chase after a paying customer and remind them when they needed to get out. Also, I don't think the staff member was aware that my mother was waiting for me in the pool and that she had witnessed another member arrive to the pool moments before me did. We raised an eyebrow as to why the staff felt the need to inform me of the hours and not the other member. 2. I received repeated stares from therapist as they were conducting their therapy sessions in a visible area of the gym. It made me feel very uncomfortable as though I didn't belong there. I get it, their clientele is majority elderly with restricted mobility but if you allow the public to purchase a membership to use the facility it would be nice to not get so much attention. I'm not a gym rat but I am in considerably better shape than the clientele and although I also do physical therapy exercises, I am by no means immobile. Maybe this is why I stand out. 3. Although I knew the pool wouldn't be empty, I glanced to see exactly how packed the pool was. When I did, an older staff member, which turned out to be the owner, began to approach me to see what I needed. Again, apparently I didn't belong there and I needed to be addressed as to why I could be in the pool area. (I don't know, maybe to exercise.) It really made me feel out of place & that I didn't belong. He was in the middle of an appointment too. I don't understand why not focus on their patients instead of drawing attention to a paying individual. I obviously knew that I would be sharing the pool and was considerate of others. Patients exercise in one direction, let's say, horizontal and I was practicing my newly learned swim strokes, let's say, vertically. I would stop and wait to cross paths with patients, however with sharing anything there will be incidents and there was 1. As the patient laughed and I apologized the therapist/owner immediately instructed his patient to go to another area of the pool. I felt the tension. Not long after that he approached me and suggested that I use the pool during different hours. All of which are times of their scheduled water aerobics classes. Hours that I tried to avoid because of the class size. Afterwards, I was so uncomfortable about being approached in front of so many others. Two women over heard him and did their best to console me as they said that the interaction was distasteful. They said that I was not the only person that has been told to stay out of the way of patients. They were also non-patients but paying members who felt that they were valued less than patients. They were sweet and told me that I should continue to come whenever I'd like and that you never know when there will be appointments. I was offended as a paying customer that I couldn't use the pool/facility during hours that are convenient for my schedule. I stopped swimming and contemplated getting out of the pool and leaving which I did. I had planned on continuing my workout at the machines but I saw the owner and other patients in their sessions and just felt like I wouldn't be able to use the machines for fear of being told I was in the way again. I left and asked for my money back. How could you pay for a membership to use the facility and be subjected to the uncomfortable stares and told that you can't use the facility. Just know that here you are second class to the patients although you are a paying customer and do not have access to the facility as you would a regular gym. FYI, the owner didn't say I couldn't do laps but advised of different times that I should but in reality there may always be an appointment or an aerobics class scheduled, however the office manager said laps weren't permitted. Pros: 1. Heated pool 2. The less crowded and slower pace than large gyms can be less threatening. 3. Facility is equipped for those with limited mobility Cons: 1. Small in perimeter and depth (5 ft. max) 2. Aerobics class is a joke! The majority of aerobic instructors could care less about fitness and it shows in the way they present the class. 3.
