Two weeks went by and I found a rim to put it on. I went to Plaza tire near me and they called me out to the shop to look at this tire. We were shocked to see a broken belt sticking out of the tire on the inside. Wow RNR wanted to mount it but I didn't have the rim yet. I would have paid for him to hide the fact. Just wow, We are on a fixed income. I called the lady manager and she said shame on me for buying a used tire. She was right, but wouldn't make it right.

Apparently they did retain the credit card info because two weeks later they illegally made two more charges on my card. I called them and was told they were giving me a refund. I never received it. I called again and was again told they would process a refund and be sure and take the card info off the account. A week later still no refund and I called a third time and was told I would need to dispute the two charges through my credit card company then I could receive a charge back for the charges. So I then spent 30 minutes with my credit card company after all the time I spent talking to them. I guess we will see if this works. It makes no sense that they can't give a refund back on my credit card and if that is the case why didn't they say that the first time. NOT a good company to do business with! Poor management practices on the business side. PLUS I then found out they not only charged my credit card they also charged my friends for the same amount!!

**Plaza Tire #5 - Cape Girardeau, MO**…read more I'm not sure if this was because I'm a woman or not, but here's my experience. On 6/3/2026, I took my car to Plaza Tire #5 in Cape Girardeau for a state vehicle inspection. I've used this location before, and so has my family. The inspection was completed, but I was told my car barely passed because it needed four new tires. While paying for the inspection, I asked for a quote on replacing the tires. The total was about $530, which seemed reasonable, so I considered moving forward with it. When I got home, I asked my husband to take a look. His assessment was, "You could probably use two front tires soon, but the rear tires are fine." My husband also needed two tires for his vehicle, so we decided to go ahead and order all four tires for my car and asked Plaza Tire to return my two rear tires so we could use them on his vehicle. I hardly drive my car, so it isn't unusual for my tires to have less wear than expected for their age. On 6/4/2026, I dropped off my car for the tire installation with no issues. Later, I received a call saying my vehicle was ready for pickup. A few minutes later, they called back and said, "Oh, I forgot to mention--your front brakes need to be replaced." Given the discrepancy from the day before regarding the tires, I took this recommendation with a grain of salt. Before leaving to pick up my car, I checked my maintenance records and saw that my front brakes were last replaced in 2018. Based on that information, it seemed entirely possible that they were due for replacement. When I arrived, I mentioned that I hardly drive the vehicle and that the brake pads had been on the car since 2018. I said I would likely replace them within the next year but wasn't in a hurry. That's when the employee stated, "Well, with your front brakes at 1-2 mm, your car wouldn't pass a state inspection." I then informed him that I had been there the previous day specifically for a state inspection and that the inspection report only mentioned the tires. I asked why the brakes weren't flagged during the inspection if they were truly at 1-2 mm and would cause the vehicle to fail. He didn't really have an answer. To be clear, I believe my front brakes probably do need replacing based on their age. However, I do not believe I needed the two rear tires. In fact, I took pictures of the "bad" rear tires they returned to me, and the tread depth gauge shows they are still several millimeters away from replacement. My brakes may have needed attention, but the rear tires did not. Thankfully, I know enough about cars--and have a husband who knows even more--to question what I was being told. My advice to others, especially women: learn about your vehicle, ask questions, get a second opinion when something doesn't seem right, and teach your kids the basics of vehicle maintenance. It can save you from spending money you don't need to spend.

My Toyota sedan was making a whirring noise whenever I pressed the gas pedal. My father checked it…read morefor me and was sure it was a muffler/exhaust issue but told me to have it checked to be sure. So I took it to Campus Auto. That was a mistake I will not make again. I told them what was going on as best I could explain and specifically mentioned the muffler/exhaust. They checked it over (supposedly) and less than 15 minutes later told me I had a strut rubbing my right rear tire. I had never even heard of this and couldn't see how it would even be possible unless the strut was badly damaged. They quoted me just under $1,000 cash price (over $1,000 card) to "fix" it. I then asked them about the exhaust/muffler and they said they don't do exhaust work--but they advertise as full service auto repair? Then they charged me $75 just for the diagnostic--which I understand--but I don't believe they actually "diagnosed" anything (which of course I cannot prove). My father said to get a second opinion so I got a referral and took it to another mechanic. Lo and behold, he said it needed a new muffler and quoted me a very fair price. I am taking it to him next week. As a favor, he checked the struts and said they looked to be in order. Bottom line, steer clear of Campus Auto. I think they were trying to pull a fast one on me to make a quick grand.
