Very disappointed with this practice. I took my three oldest children here because they accepted their insurance. I had concerns - felt there were some unethical practices. I even questioned whether or not the treatment decisions were based on profits. I have never had these doubts with any other medical provider. Recently scheduled an appointment for my 4th child. I called at 4:30 (the end of the day)and they mentioned they had just had a cancellation for the next day. Took the appointment but after hanging up I learned my son had a school exam at that very time the next day. The office was closed but I called the first thing in the morning to reschedule. I was told I would have to pay $25 since I didn't give 24 hours notice. Explained to very rude staff that I had just scheduled the appointment so it would have been impossible to give a 24 hour notice ! Staff insisted I must pay the $25. So I will pay the $25 but I will never schedule another appointment for any member of my family. This attitude and the obvious greed reminds me of how I always questioned the ethics of this practice. The great news is I found another practice that accepts our insurance and I am so impressed with their professionalism and patient care. So for $25 they lost 4 patients. They also might want to train their staff on how to talk to patients or maybe as they view it their "customers". read more

I really can't understand the negative reviews.Our family has been going here for 10+ years. And while a couple of times we had a long wait, generally we are in and out very quickly. The office staff are average, no better or worse than any other. The medical assistants, which change frequently, are usually fine. But what is good are the doctors and nurse practitioners. We've seen several of them and are happy with the care of all the ones we've seen. But the one we've seen consistently is Leslie Graves. She is very personal yet professional. She has a good sense of humor, too. And she really knows her business and does a great job of taking care of whatever the issue is. read more

After my first appointment, I was really impressed. Then things went steeply downhill. The staff is disorganized and Dr. Beard is evidently too busy to give her patients proper care. For 3 months I have had a sore on my knee, with a painful scab. Dr. Beard initially tried a couple of solutions. Then she either lost interest or didn't know what to do. I still have the painful scab. I have now made an appointment at Dermatology Associates. I will never return to Dr. Beard's and recommend that you don't go either! read more

If there as a possibility of giving no stars, I would! Anyone thinking of going here needs to have their head examined. I was told to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out some paperwork. I arrived 30 minutes early to ensure I could do so and be ready by my appointment time. I went to pay my $10 co-pay and they had no change. I had to wait a while for them to hunt down change for me.....I gave them a $20. I sat back down in the waiting room for the next hour, all the while watching others that came in after me get called back one after another. While this created some aggravation, I continued to wait. Once called back, I sat down in the room with a very pleasant girl that seemed to be maybe a year or two out of high school. She asked me multiple questions, many more than a normal preliminary nurse would ask me (normally, a doctor would ask these to analyze them) and said she would go outside the room to discuss and return when they made a decision. ??? Where was my doctor/physician assistant to discuss my issues? I sat there for another 30 minutes and all I could hear was laughter and cutting up in the central area outside the rooms. I finally got disgusted with the whole process and left without ever seeing the person I was supposed to see..........after spending an hour and a half waiting. When I went to leave, not one person asked me why.......perhaps, they are used to this. I have never had a experience like this in ANY doctor's office. I forfeited my co-pay, my insurance will probably have to pay a huge doctor's fee all for a service I did not receive. If you like sitting around, being ignored and not receiving the care you wish, this is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and pick another place. read more

I absolutely love this place! Most of the time it feels like I am imposing or should apologize for taking up doctors' time BUT this is a whole different experience! Dr. Beard is fantastic, personable, professional and "knows her stuff". A special shout out to Karen! She went above and beyond for me! She even called me on her day off to check on me and relay info. In this day in age, that is just unheard of. I cannot say enough praise about this professional office! read more

Horrible, inconsiderate, disorganized, unapologetic! One employee said they lost my paperwork and I needed to redo it. Another comes out and says I can't be seen today because my insurance hasn't approved me yet. Now mind you, my new patient visit was at the beginning of December. Your telling me you all couldn't find time to submit me for approval in over a month? She blamed it on the holiday. I called my insurance, they never submitted anything for approval. Lie after lie. Oh...and they had the nerve to call me 20 mins before my scheduled appointment time to cancel. Mind you I was walking in the door when they called. Who waits to cancel that close to the scheduled time? Disorganized people that's who. I have a chronic illness and getting out the house is super hard for me, so I was really upset they wasted my time. They could have canceled with me at least an hour before and saved me the hassle. I don't live close to this place and traffic was horrible, and I was in major pain and couldn't take my meds so I could get there. I won't be back. They never apologized either. WORST experience with any type of doctor's office I have ever had in my life. I came in for allergy patch testing by referral from another dermatologist. They had me undress and change into a gown so they could look at my back where they would be placing the patches. After that I was told I would need to change back into my clothes, go back up to the front desk and pay for my visit, and then I could come back into the room, change into the gown again, and THEN they would place the patches on my back. This is the first thing that upset me and struck me as odd. I have never been to any type of doctor that makes you do things in that order, as it is obviously inconvenient for the patient, and frankly makes it seem like they don't trust you to pay on your way out the door like any other doctor's office would let you do. So I'm already a little annoyed when I go to do this and then the girl who takes my payment TRIPLE charges my card and tells me my card is declined. I checked my bank account and of course there weren't sufficient funds at this point after charging me three times the amount they were supposed to. She still claims she only ran my card once, which is physically impossible and a boldfaced lie. After they make me call my bank in front of them (I've been here for an hour at this point and still haven't met the doctor or had the patches put on) the girl realizes she entered the incorrect billing zip code when running my card. This would be because she never bothered to ask me what it was in the first place. Once all of that was finally resolved through ONLY the help of my bank and no concern from the office supervisor herself, I finally got to the actual purpose of my visit. Dr. Carter was very nice and personable, however, I would have appreciated more time with her. Both appointments (getting the patches put on and coming back a week later to have the results read) felt extremely rushed and I barely had a chance to ask her one question on her way out the door after dumping some paperwork in my lap on the SIX allergens I was just diagnosed with and completely new to. On my way out I was advised to register with their patient portal online as it is "the most efficient way to communicate with them." That could not be further from the truth. I have been waiting for over a week to see my test results posted in the portal and was told they were waiting for them to be "finalized." I still have no idea what was taking so long since the results were read straight from my skin in the room. I simply needed to know which allergens I reacted higher to than others since there are different levels. After waiting long enough, I called the office this morning and spoke to someone who said they actually have no idea how the portal works and it's really not efficient at all..... I am completely dumbfounded by every aspect of my experience here and HIGHLY recommend anyone reading this find somewhere better to go. I'm sure the doctors are nice, qualified, and knowledgeable, but their patient care could not be worse. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I was recently referred here, but I will say this is by far the worst experience I've had. The staff refused to see me, were rude and uncooperative, talked poorly of me in my presence to the point that I started crying, they refused to schedule another appointment with me, they lied about appointment availability, called me 7 times to confirm my original appointment (even after I already said I was going). I am appalled at how rude, unorganized, and unprofessional they were. My provider is even shocked that they didn't see me. I will be filing a complaint and working with my provider to no longer refer patients here. I RECOMMEND TO ABSOLUTELY NO ONE. Though the dermatologists may have provided excellent service their staff and nurses are not qualified to establish that necessary rapport between patient and doctor. read more

Terrible!! I've done two 30 day lockouts and still have yet to receive my medication! They really need to get their stuff together!

When I called to set up an appointment. They wanted my social security number and I told them I had a medicare number and they did not need my social security number. The girl told me she could not set up an appointment without my Social Security number. Social Security office said they should only take my medicare number. She then wanted all my insurance information. I told her most doctors office copy that information when you get there. She wanted it now. Alarm bells should have went off then. I had an 8:15 am appointment and the guy behind me the long line waiting for the doors to open had an 8:00. When the doors finally opened it took a while to get through the check in line. Very unorganized not having doors open early. When I was finally seen, I thought it odd the woman who came in to see me did not say I am the doctor or Physician Assistant. When I got back home to look on line at the staff. The person that I saw was a Nurse Practitioner. I was shocked. When it comes to skin cancer I don't want my life depending on a nurse practitioner. My doctor would have been better than that. I thought I was going to a specialist. Money is all they care about. read more

Scheduled an appointment for a month later showed up the morning of the appointment, they had know idea why I was there, they talked and asked each other if this is one of the problems they have been having, I got NO I'm sorry let me see what I can do, nothing clearly they have problems with scheduling and do not care about your time, I would recommend finding another practice. read more

I was referred here by my physician because t was the closest to my house. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I haven't been to any dermatologist since. I only saw the actual dr for just a min while she looked me over and told the assistant what to do. She left and never came back in. The assistant completed everything. I was having a watt removed from below my nose. She missed after she cut it off while trying to cauterize it. She hit a part of my face (that wasn't numb) and burned me so bad that I had a open wound there. She wasn't apologetic at all. I was crying and very upset. She just told me she was now done and how to get back to the lobby. I was so upset that I didn't even care to go leave in front of all of those people like that. Would never recommend this place to anyone. I don't see how they are still open. read more

I was a patient for numerous years but am seeking a new provider. This practice has gotten to big for its britches. You will wait up to 1-1/2 hours before you have a 5 minute visit. I loved Leslie but again the practice is too distant from its patient's and cut provisions. They will charge you for any small extra such as a maintainence shot which they used to do as service. You will have to make another appointment if you want them to give you a shot. Try calling the office if you have time to go through a huge rotary dial of instructions only to get a recording over 80% of time. Sure they have a few good reviews but I am seeing more negatives comments as I write this so be ware and Good luck. There are lots of Dematoligists. I do not have another Dr I see that will not return my call but this practice will not. They need a good manager now that they have outgrown their service but it is about the money. 2/28/2019. I recently found myself in the market for a new dermatologist and was referred to Advanced Dermatology. The staff is very professional and Dr. Scalf was wonderful--very personable and friendly. She gave me a thorough check-over and gave me several good tips for staying safe in the sun. read more
