I am a patient of Advanced Endodontics, dating back to 2022. I've had more root canal procedures than most would prefer, but these were out of necessity. Dr Alibhai was a life saver! I was not just nervous, but scared about both the work and cost of the emergency dental work and root surgery I had to have this week. I ended up relieved about both. What someone else said might take a bone graph and having no front tooth for a year with multiple procedures and $10-20k, he instead assessed me, treated me and had the issue fixed in an hour and at a fraction of the cost. His assistant Princessa was quite competent, but also quite comforting too. My heart was racing a bit and she helped me calm myself. I was referred to Advanced Endodontics by my dentist because I continued experiencing sensitivity in one of my teeth after getting a crown--especially when drinking something cold or biting down on anything hard. The pain got to the point where I couldn't even eat on my right side. Like many people, I was really nervous about getting a root canal--it doesn't exactly have the best reputation! But Dr. Beppu and his assistant Diane were absolutely amazing. They were incredibly patient and answered all of my questions, taking time to make sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. I needed a root canal for the very first time and was concerned about the procedure. Dr. Karim Z. Alibhai had been doing this for over 30 years. He is a true definition of a professional. He was very knowledgeable and his staff was very accommodating, on time and addressed to my concerns. Advanced Endodontics has the latest equipment that was used during my procedure. I went to Dr. Alibhai for the second opinion, and I am so glad that I did! Dr. Alibhai has saved two of my teeth, that another endodontists have told me are impossible to save, because they could not get through the dense filling material, so they must be exacted. Dr. Karim Alibhai is an oral surgeon who has performed multiple root canals for me and also a complicated oral surgery involving an extensive gum infection. In my every encounter with him, my care has been excellent, and he is always concerned for my comfort in the different procedures. I have a relatively small mouth, and root canals can be very difficult for me. He always finds a way to keep me as comfortable as possible, even using techniques that might not be as comfortable or easy for him but are better for me. He is all about patient care as well as excellence in outcomes. I cannot recommend him more highly. read more

Had to wait 30 mins in the waiting room from my appointment time then another 15 mins inside. When I mentioned that I will have to leave now. Will reschedule, the assistant then went and got the dentist. Otherwise not sure how long it would have taken with appointment. For taking X-ray of right tooth to checking if it's needs root canal + the 3D scan, they billed ~$600. All in all I was inside seen by the doctor for like 5 mins with the cold checks that they do + interpreting 3D scan results. Would not recommend this facility. read more

The positives * They were able to schedule me in on short notice when I had developed a tooth infection and my general dentist referred me to them to get a root canal * Dr. Rabiee was skillfully able to perform the required root canal The negatives * I have a very good dental insurance plan through my employer as do most of their clientele. They know this hence they make sure they max out the insurance billing. They do this by breaking out every "service" like an ER - to a degree I have never seen at any other dentist - general, endodontist or even dentist surgeon. Just one root canal used up most of my annual dental insurance. To give you an example they are still (in 2002) billing the insurance for COVID PPE equipment. They bill an exam and then as part of the exam they do a thermal test, which is billed separately. As part of the root canal they have the apply a temporary filling and then adjust your bite so that the filling doesn't come off, and guess what they bill separately for that too. * They will over-collect you co-payment and refund you in 3-4 weeks * They are commercially minded, as a result (at least for me) you lose confidence in the diagnostic (e.g., X-rays) and treatments recommendations (e.g., do the root canal over two sittings). Doing it over two sittings ended up costing me over $1000 dollars because of they way they break up the billing of everything and I am not sure if that was the best medical decision or just the way to make money * The overall cost of the root canal is higher than other endodontists in the area, I called around to verify * The front desk staff can be very rude and condescending if you ask them any questions about billing (especially about price) read more

These people are thieves and robbers. They overcharge for their services, include procedures that they KNOW are not covered by insurance and can be done without and then try to collect on it. After just one appointment, I was given a bill that was $1200 HIGHER than another dentist in the same area who has even more experience! And they had the gall to then go back to me to pay for an xray that was not needed and not covered into collections. The quality of dentistry may be first rate, I do not know, but do yourself a favor and FIND ANOTHER DENTIST who is fiscally ethical! read more

Was having tooth pain before leaving on a long trip and went to my dentist. After some tests, he referred me to Dr. Beppu, said he was the best and had the latest tech for evaluating nerve/root issues. He got me in the same day, did a through eval, and found the problem was in the root nerves. Did a root canal right then - went through a crown which was left in place, and discovered decay which was causing the nerve deterioration. Over the course of the next couple hours, including breaks to let my jaw muscles relax, he did four root canals, and refilled the crown. Everyone there treated me well, and I sincerely appreciated getting this taken care of so quickly before I left to travel. I am very thankful that I ended up in his capable hands. read more

I don't often give reviews, but the level of service, consideration, and patient care I was given from Advanced Endodontics and Dr. Alibhai during my root canal was what I feel every person deserves to have when receiving dental services. The office team was helpful, welcoming, and thorough in their intake process. They were thoughtful of safety procedures around COVID-19, the facility was clean, and the staff were very informative of what to expect throughout the visit. Dr. Alibhai was pretty awesome. His patient care is extraordinary and reassuring which was helpful in managing anxiety regarding the procedure. Dr. Alibhai was thorough, explained throughout the process what was happening, and genuine in his interactions for my well-being. Before my procedure with Dr. Beppu, I thought that a root canal narrowly missed inclusion on the UN's list of prohibited interrogation techniques. I girded myself for the worst as I walked into the clinic: Would I admit to rolling Mrs. Allen's house in high school? Did I write the cat out of my will? Why God, why? My mind was abuzz with anxiety. As soon as I walked into the clinic, I began to suspect that my fears were misplaced. Dr. Beppu and the Advanced Endodontonics staff made me feel welcome and comfortable. This was very different than any interrogations in the past. I was eager to see how the "good cop-good cop" technique would play out. After quickly verifying the need for a root canal with a few x-rays and a CT scan, Dr. Beppu briefed me on the plan of action and went to work. He was attentive to any discomfort and quickly and effectively administered additional anesthetics during the few rare moments when I experienced increased sensitivity. After about 1.5 hours, I was all done. If you're looking for someone to efficiently perform a root canal without pain or fuss, talk to Dr. Beppu. The doctor and the office staff are the worst I have even seen. My 79 year old father kept feeling pain and sore after Dr. Alibhai performed a root canal for him. When my father went to back for the follow up appointment to check what is going on with the tooth Dr. Alibhai have worked, the doctor charged another $500 for the visit, and he didn't fix or correct anything. His staff didn't want to claim it to insurance, and said my father can not leave if he doesn't pay the money. This doctor hired a bunch of cheap and incompetence assistant and office workers. A assistant tried 6 times on taking a x-ray for my father without success. Dr. Alibhai is a bully, snob， hypocritical，and money driven dentist. read more

If you ever need a root canal done, this is the place to go. I would highly recommend especially if you have a fear that a root canal will be painful. No guarantees, but I can testify that mine was less painful than the onlay prep or even a filling. This should tell you you are in good hands. I unfortunately had to get a root canal after shooting pain from a temporary onlay from my regular Dentist. Dr. Lin was very professional in walking me through the process and made sure everything was good and numb before any work was done. He was very meticulous and you can tell he cares a lot about his patients. Even if you are there for a consultation, Advanced Endodontics schedules enough time in case you need a root canal. That way it saves you from another visit. Their COVID protocols were great with a regulated patient max in waiting room, air purifiers in every room, and even a cracked window to help with air flow during the procedure. On top of that, after my procedure, I was held back as another patient was finishing up at the checkout desk. They didn't want me to cross paths until I could safely checkout. Having your first (hopefully last) root canal right before Christmas is not on anyone's wish list, but I will be forever grateful that I was able to get in on the same day as my dentist diagnosed the issue and referred me. All about money!!! I was referred by a dentist and went there to ask about root canal. The receptionist answered the phone was rude. Anyways got there and asked i just want to know how much it would cost for the root canal on my tooth. They had already received my xray/image. So i asked their high rated dentist he looked at my images and said they need to see it with their scan which would cost also 300-500$. I told him again i just want to know the approximate cost for a certain tooth root canal and he still insisted using their scan to see it. I was so disappointed and told them i want to leave and come back later if i decide to. Then he said he would call the dentist who referred them and kept me waiting even when I said no need. While then he said he'd do cold check on my couple teeth. Finally i headed to the door and asked how much i owe them. $52 , okay i paid it and left. Couple months later, received an email with a bill saying i owe them $114.40 and including a threatening part in the email if not paid in 30 days, there will be 1.5% penalty. Called them and asked why it would cost this high and why they didn't tell me back then, the lady just said oh the insurance covered certain amount and rest is on you. I asked so you charge me total of 260$ just for asking how much it would cost and cold test or whatever for 2 teeth? Of course she said Yes! They don't have a price for anything, probably will look at you and decide how much they would charge! I'd tell everyone around me to stay away from this GREEDY people! read more

Highly recommend Dr Kenji Beppu for any and all endodontic treatment. If you have ever experienced mouth pain related to teeth, then this is for you. I consider myself to have moderate tolerance to pain, but root/nerve pain in the mouth?! I couldn't move or talk without excruciating pain. I had a crack in one of my molars and it would not be easily treated by a filling. I was referred to Dr Beppu by my very trusted family dentist. I was a wreck with anxiety, because I had heard so many horror stories about root canals, not to mention the PAIN! To my surprise, I was greeted at Advanced Endodontics by the friendliest staff members in a calm, serene office. Little to no wait time. As soon as I met Dr Beppu, all worries and fears melted away. He is not only extremely knowledgeable and professional, but he's kind and compassionate. He explained the unique nature of my problem and proposed the different treatment processes, their advantages and disadvantages. I was confident in my decision to proceed with the prescribed treatment. Amazing, amazing experience said no one ever about involved dental work. Except this time. It was painless and quick and effective. It was easier than a filling!!! Dr Beppu is very gentle. He uses state of the art equipment and has great technique. I was in and out of the patient chair and signed into a board meeting in less than an hour. He followed up with a personal phone call to make sure that I was on my way to recovery. Yes. As for the dental part of it, they were wonderful. They were able to get me in quickly for a root canal and it was practically painless. Dr. Alibhai was amazing and super thorough. However, as for the administrative side, I'm really angry. Not only did they NOT give me ANY kind of quote beforehand, they also neglected to tell me they were out of network. Had I known that, I could've called my insurance company and avoided a $2000 out-of-pocket after the procedure. They didn't tell me there would be any issues (my plan was close to maxed out which they also didn't tell me). I don't care how good they were, I will not be going back there just to be lied to and ripped off. It should be illegal to do things like that. read more

The root canal procedure was so-so. I had a lot of complications afterward that required 2 follow-up visits. For the first follow-up they did nothing, just told me to wait things out. A week later at the second follow-up, they put forth a lot more effort and provided some assistance that was actually helpful. The administrative side is completely dysfunctional. There were all kinds of issues when I first called to get an appointment. They tried telling me that an assessment appointment would be needed first - even though I had a referral from my general dentist indicating that a root canal was definitely needed. They did not provide an estimate in advance, just expected me to have over $600 ready when I arrived for the procedure. After billing my insurance they sent me another bill for almost $400. When I read the insurance explanation of benefits, I immediately realized that they did not credit my account for the amount paid by the insurance company. They had instead used a different and smaller number from the EoB. They actually owed me a refund! Clerical mistake? Maybe, maybe not. read more

This was the best root canal I've ever had. The anesthesia was strong but not weirdly uncomfortable. The doctor and his assistant were wonderful and explained everything more than adequately. On Saturday, (immediately after talking to my dentist) Dr. Beppu called me and said I could see him on Monday morning. He also prescribed antibiotics and called it in to my pharmacist that afternoon. Renton and Bellevue Clinic are run in a haphazard manner. IMO, Prices are more expensive than other comparable doctors in the Seattle/Eastside region. Front desk is very rude. My experience was that the clinic is more concerned about payments than customer satisfaction. To be fair, I got the feeling that people at Walmart would have trusted me more than this clinic. :( The doctor conveniently bailed himself out and let the front desk go on and on about the terms and conditions. I am done with this clinic and do not recommend them to anyone. Check other clinics in the area for options. read more

My medical experience was good. Very little pain, everyone seemed competent, and my procedure went well (so far anyway). I did have to make 3 visits for 1 root canal, not sure if that is normal or not. The reason for 3 stars? It's very expensive. I've had root canals before so I'm familiar with the process. I went to this office for the first time for a consultation. I had come straight from my dentist who had forwarded exrays of the tooth. Advanced Endodontics wanted their own exrays, so took three more. Then, they recommended I have this scan done, and told me that I would pay for the scan up front ($310.00) and then when insurance covered it, they'd reimburse me. They said there was a chance that insurance would not cover it, but I was trusting that if the expert was recommending it, then insurance would cover it. But nope. Insurance did not cover it, and I was out $310.00. I feel that the office knew insurance wouldn't cover it. I don't appreciate having an unnecessary procedure just to help pay for their equipment. I've never had that procedure before at any other root canal consultation. I will not go back. read more

I had a root canal infection, and I've never felt so much pain In my life. I sat down at Advanced Endodontics, and cried in the chair. It was unbearable. Luckily, Dr. Rabiee and his amazing staff were able to cure me of my pain within 2 hours with their root canal procedure. I can't explain the relief I feel now. This review is late in coming, but I remember my root canal like it was yesterday, not because of the pain but because of the incredible care and attention I received from Dr. Alibhai. On a Friday night whilst cleaning my room, I was beset with tooth pain of the highest degree that radiated throughout my face. I called Dr. Alibhai's office and was given an emergency contact number. Seeing as I was in excruciating pain dr. Ali hai prescribed an adequate pain killer on the spot and told me to contact again if I could not sleep, "if you cannot sleep, then I cannot sleep". I've never heard of such sacrifice and care from a doctor, I thought I was in a movie. The next morning dr. Alibhai opened the clinic, prepared tea for my wife and performed the root canal without any staff assistance. Being the medical genius he is Dr. Alibhai completed the root canal no sweat, and even provided valuable wedding planning tips. If you need to see an endodontist, look no further! read more

I am truly shocked and disappointed at how unprofessionally and distastefully Rhina, the office manager, has handled my situation, but not surprised in the least to see similar complaints from others. Always run your bill by your insurance when dealing with this place BEFORE you pay, and don't go here if they are out of your network because they will work the system and charge you for whatever they can get away with. Dr. Kevin Otto referred me to Dr. Beppu's Advanced Endodontic office Dec 2013 for an exam. I originally didn't want to go to this office because I knew they were out of my insurance's network (Aetna), and knew it would be more expensive, but was told by Dr. Otto that they would work with me financially. The exam was brief, I was told that everything looked fine, and after checking out at the front desk, I was waved out of the office with no bill. On Jan 2nd, I got a bill for $358, which included TWO exams for $106 each. Two agents from Aetna told me it was probably a mistake to be billed twice. I spoke to the office manager at Dr. Beppu's office, Rhina, who told me that the bill stands as is, and the reason that I'm being billed twice is because they looked at two teeth. Rhina said that she doesn't know how other offices do it, but at theirs, they charge per tooth for exams, unless the teeth are on the same side of my mouth. I asked if they would be willing to work with me financially, and explained to Rhina that I went to their office under that impression, and was denied. I called Aetna back, and was told that it is not standard to charge for two exams. Unfortunately, they said they couldn't do anything about it because Dr. Beppu is not in their network, but that I should take this up with the dental insurance board. After talking to the dental insurance board, I called Dr. Beppu's office (multiple times) asking for a signed treatment plan that shows the services and fees. I never received a response. I was out of town after that for two weeks, and came back to a call from a collections agency for $375 from Dr. Beppu's office, and no signed treatment plan in the mail. The collection agency said if I were disputing this with Dr. Beppu's office, they would be able to reimburse me. I was at a loss, so I called Dr. Otto's office on 4/16, explained the situation, and was also told that it isn't right to be charged twice for an exam. I was told by Katherine, the receptionist, that Rhina claimed that I was making no effort, they never heard from me, and that they called me many times, but it would ring and ring and then disconnect. I immediately called Rhina, and was appalled by what she said to me. When I said that if they tried to call at a certain time that I had been out town for two weeks, she laughed and told me that just because I go on a vacation doesn't mean my bill just goes away. I was told that they never heard from me, and that I was never told I would be sent a treatment plan because there wouldn't have been anything like that. And she told me that the only reason I was calling at that point was because I had been sent to collections. I was told that I was fully aware that I wouldn't be covered for anything before I came to them, to which I explained is different than being fully aware that they are out of my network. She eventually said she would talk to Dr. Beppu after he got back from being out of town to see if he feels like he would want to reimburse me for one of the exams. Two weeks went by with no call back, so I called back again and was quickly and simply told that Dr. Beppu doesn't see a reason to reimburse me for the extra exam. After more phone calls to the dental insurance commissioner, and an attorney's office, I was told that because they didn't have to go through insurance to bill me, that they legally can bill me how they want to, but that it is not ethical and would have been denied by insurance if I would've had them to vouch for me. I am now taking further action because of their lack of understanding, and unethical service. I also have printed off my phone records, which show 7 calls that I made to this office from 2/18 to 4/16. This is the first time I have ever had to write a negative review, but I am VERY disappointed that I was talked into going to this office under the impression that they would have helped me out financially, but just the opposite has happened. I wish I would have known before I even sat down in a chair that I wouldn't have been covered for anything, and that I would have been paying out of pocket for two exams, and feel it is the job of the person behind the desk who takes care of the billing to know these things at the time of service. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Kenji Beppu. He repaired my 10 year old sons broken tooth along with performing a root canal on it. My son was comfortable and the procedure went very well. The reason I leave 1 star off is for the receptionist at the Bellevue location. She lacks customer service skills, and can be unfriendly and rude. Dr. Beppu has another office in Renton. I would give that location 5 stars. The receptionist there is wonderful, and that location feels much more updated and comfortable. read more
