My son had some wisdom teeth pulled and the procedure went well. The doctor (Yu) did a really good job. However, this office makes you pay an overcharged amount in case your insurance doesn't provide that discount. They do return the overcharged amount after settling with the insurance company a month later. Of course, there's no interest added for holding onto my money during that time. And now I have the added hassle of filling out a form to put that money back into my HSA account. I visited all kinds of doctors since I had an HSA and this is the only place that returns money to you after charging you too much. Why can't they take care of the payments like all other medical offices? read more

At 69 years old, I just had two wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Reed and his assistants. According to the x-ray, the roots were quite connected to my bone. I was sedated and have no memory of the procedure. He did a consummate job of removal, his staff was uniformly pleasant and professional. Dr. Reed phoned me that evening to check up on how I was doing, and at my request described in detail how he removed them. It was complex. This is an excellent dental practice. Dr. Yu is the best! I had a complicated lower wisdom teeth extraction which I was very worried about, but Dr. Yu and his staff completely calmed my nerves. I had general anesthesia so I felt nothing during the procedure and didn't even need my prescribed pain meds after the procedure - I was painless the next couple days! Unfortunately, one of my sutures got irritated after dinner and started bleeding uncontrollably. Dr. Yu met me in the middle of the night over the weekend to stop the bleeding and control the situation, even though he was on vacation. He even called me the next day to see how I was doing. The people here truly care about their patients and will do everything they can to make sure your surgery is as painless as possible and a positive experience! Hi reached to them, because of severe pain from an impacted Wisdom Tooth. They gave me an appointment. But in the appointment, they just did a physical exam, not the surgery, and gave me another later date for surgery which was way ahead. Even I had a referral for Surgical wisdom tooth I could not eat for days because of this appointment schedule hassle. On their website "If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day." which is just a PR tactic, they don't do that. read more

I saw Dr Reed with a terribly infected tooth. The stars go for a prompt visit when I was in pain. However, I was unable to have treatment for a week- which left me in a lot of pain for about 7 days. When I did receive treatment, the extraction was top notch and easy peasy. He did refer me to a wonderful dentist, Dr Galloway of Bellevue, who advised I have more teeth extracted. When I returned to Dr Reed, again in pain from another infection, the soonest I could be seen was a month- and would only be extracted if I extracted other teeth I was not ready to part with on the same visit. ( I can't have a lot of down time for childcare reasons). Because of the length of the wait, which would have been a month of absolute agony and the bargain of having to extract more teeth in the same visit, ( he felt it would be beneficial ) led me to leave this practice and find treatment with Dr. Trippel of Bellevue who saw me in the same day as my call and did not require me to extract other teeth in order to have relief in that same day. ( Within 30 minutes the excruciating tooth was removed beautifully removed with no complications.) Again, the treatment I did receive from Dr Reed was top notch, however, because of my needs it wasn't a good fit for me. read more

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Seung Yu DDS recently and he and the entire staff at Eastside Oral Surgery were amazing! They explained the process in detail before the surgery, they were very pleasant and comforting on the day of the surgery, and Dr. Yu even called me personally to check in on me the day after. Dr. Yu is a very skilled surgeon as well. I had minimal swelling and surprisingly little pain afterwards. It's a shame that I'll probably never need his services again. read more

I was not so impressed with my experience here. I had two wisdom teeth removed and when I got home realized they didn't give my medicine to my husband. It took me a full day to get in touch with someone and the bottom line was I had to go back to The office to pick up the prescription myself... the day after the procedure. Then there was a huge mix up in the billing. After three months of back and forth between them and my insurance I owed hundreds more than quoted. I was disappointed that once this came to light they put a LOT of pressure on me to pay the bill immediately or they would send me to collections (without giving me time to fight with insurance). Yikes. If I do get the other two removed it will not be here. They get two stars because I had no complications with the procedure itself but I'm sure there are plenty of other surgeons that can do good work and handle billing and prescriptions. read more

My daughter had 4 of her wisdom teeth removed a couple weeks ago. The surgery went well, it took her 7 days to fully recover, the first 3 days she wasn't able to eat much. Scheduling the appointment was a bit frustrating, even though, it was made 3 weeks in advance. i called the week prior in regards to another issue and appt time, it was estimated between 9-10am, the day before i was told she would be the last patient, and to bring our co-pay multiple times. read more

Luckily Eastside was able to fit me in for a consult the day after the incident (cracked tooth) which would result in a double wisdom extraction. From start to finish, they were awesome. Be aware that you may, like us, get to feel like you are just another number and not much of a priority at this surgery once you have paid for your operation and it is done. While my son's surgery to have four wisdom teeth removed under general anesthetic went well with Dr Yu, in the age of communication the follow-up was distressing. I was trying to give my 19 year old son the best post operative care I could considering he was handed into my care within half an hour or so after his general anesthetic. Firstly, I found some of the written instructions in the take home pack ambiguous which I have now brought to the attention of the surgery. Also, someone just out of a general, with a numb mouth and little control over their tongue and lips, finds is very hard to swallow a painkiller pill. I actually had to try to hunt through my son's mouth to see if he had swallowed it due to his numbness! And he could hardly open his mouth!! We were, in fact, following surgery instructions to give the painkiller as soon as we returned home. Surely he could have bitten his tongue or lips? I have since recommended to the surgery that the first dose of painkiller provided by the surgery in your take-home pack, to offset the fading IV pain relief, should be liquid to make it easier for the patient to take. But, the worst thing we experienced was the terrible communication afterwards when trying to get help. Clearly, the surgery does not want to be disturbed on a weekend. A call made at 3.39pm on a Friday went to a ridiculous answering service who told me the doctor would ring in 30 minutes. It never happened. My son had aggravation from stitches spiking his tongue and aching pain. And this is a kid with high pain tolerance. It was also the second time I had a problem with the answering service. In desperation, I sent and tracked two emails which were opened Friday evening at 6.34pm and 8.29pm respectively, but which were never acted upon until Monday morning! While Dr Yu explained they were not forwarded to him until Monday morning, it seems unprofessional that they were opened on Friday evening but no action was forthcoming - not even a phone call or return email! We also did not even receive a follow-up call the day of the operation like the surgery said they would to check on my son's recovery condition! I did receive an apology on that too- but really it doesn't cut it to me. In short, my son was definitely NOT a priority and I was disappointed at the messages such inaction conveys to a young person at many levels about their self importance and the professionalism of people. I have suggested the surgery set up a direct text service to patients who have undergone general anesthetic, rather than making them resort to an answering service which spends more time on getting your name spelled correctly than contacting the Doctor on your behalf! While I have spoken with Doctor Yu and received apologies, we will probably change surgeries if requiring an oral surgeon again as it was distressing, time consuming and left a bad taste in our mouths! read more

Couldn't be more pleased or impressed! I put off my wisdom tooth extraction for almost ten years because of my fear but it is finally over with and I'm so happy with my experience at this office. Everyone from the office staff to the doctor's staff and especially Dr. Yu took time to answer my questions, follow up after the surgery, and they made me feel as comfortable as possible. I always felt heard-- and not like a dollar sign (which is how most dental and endo offices make me feel). He is genuinely a nice person with a very chill demeanor. But beyond that, he is a compassionate professional. I saw him at both the Renton and Bellevue offices. His staff at both locations were fantastic to work with. My every interaction with them was stellar. On the day of my surgery when there was a room full of people standing over me to start my procedure and a clock ticking towards his other patient's appointments he patiently and good-naturedly answered my questions. If you need oral surgery, this is the place to go. Between my two daughters, they have had three surgeries here by Dr. Nadeem Esmail. The front and back office staff are warm and professional. They don't ask for cash on the phone to walk in the door as Dr. Rubens' office in Bothell so rudely requested of me. Dr. Esmail is really looks over the chart thoroughly and asks incisive questions--more so than any other physician I have seen. His bedside manner is perfection--professional, empathetic, informative. I felt totally comfortable putting the lives of my daughters in the hands of Dr. Esmail and his staff. After surgery we received a call in the afternoon to check on how the patient was doing. And then in the evening something really unusual happened all three times my daughters had oral surgery. Dr. Esmail actually called personally in the evening to check on them. Amazing care. To my knowledge Dr. Esmail is unusual in the sense that he has impeccable training. He was trained as a physician and an oral surgeon, which is apparently unusual. That kind of training made me feel more comfortable having my daughters go under general anesthesia. read more
