I had a toothache that was extremely painful, and was referred here for a root canal consult. I was…read morevery nervous, as my husband has had a couple root canals and both had failed and hurt him a lot, so I didn't really want to have one done if I could help it. In fact, I was ready to pull the tooth instead of get the root canal! When I got there, I feel like the receptionist who checked me in was quite cold, which didn't help my anxiety while there, but I was quickly seen and taken to Dr. Ferris' room for the consult. Dr. Ferris, I have to say, was amazing. He not only came in to look at my tooth and the x-rays during a thorough exam, but he also spent time with me going over my fears and anxiety over root canals. He told me that my root was inflamed and that is what was causing my pain, and that a root canal would definitely be the way to go. He confirmed what my referring doctor had said that pulling a healthy tooth was not in my best interest, and would be much more expensive. The final thing that he told me that convinced me he was right was that he told me he could perform the root canal from start to finish in 10 minutes tops and it would be painless. He was so confident, and so knowledgeable, and was genuinely concerned about my health that I agreed. And he was right! I was done in 10 minutes and didn't feel a thing! He explained that my husband's root canals probably failed because my husband's general dentist had done them instead of sending my husband to a specialist. They are specialists for a reason! TL;DR: If your general dentist says you need a root canal and that they will do it for you, I'd recommend going to a specialist instead. Dr. Ferris is amazing at his job, and I highly recommend him if you need one done!

After ongoing sensitivity and pain in one of my molars, my regular dentist determined that I needed…read morea root canal. They tried to do the procedure in the dentist's office, but they weren't able to get me numb enough, and referred me to Capital Endodontics. I was nervous going in - the experience in the dentist's office the week before had me convinced this was going to be a painful procedure. Dr. Landwehr immediately put me at ease. His chair-side manner was amazing, and the first thing he explained was why I experienced pain when the dentist tried to do the procedure, and how they would numb me so that wouldn't be repeated. He then went on to explain what was going on with my tooth, why I needed the root canal, how they would do the procedure, and why it was the right solution. The procedure itself was comfortable and quick. Dr. Landwehr was thorough in explaining what was going on the entire time - what I would smell, hear, and feel - which I greatly appreciated. I think one of the most notable things about the whole experience is the absence of any post-procedure discomfort or pain. My jaw is slightly sore from my mouth being open for so long, but the tooth and surrounding area feel fine - no sensitivity, no tenderness. I had my procedure around 2:45pm and by about 6:30pm all of the numbness was gone and I was able to eat a (relatively soft) dinner without any pain or discomfort in the tooth. I highly recommend these folks if you need a root canal, and from the other reviews here, looks like you can't go wrong with any of their practitioners!

The procedure was done pretty quickly, with little pain and the personal interaction/conversation was so pleasant. The office is very large, bright and beautiful. It really took away the gloom of coming to treat a painful tooth! I'd say the only con is having to pay everything upfront. It was just under $1,000 and that's a lot to come up with at once for some people, but you really can't avoid getting a tooth treated that could lead to infection. I think they could really benefit having a payment plan if authorized. Luckily it ended up being my Christmas present from some family. I'm not sure we could afford going here again (our dentist in Baraboo gave us a written referral to Capital, I think they have a partnership) but I do highly recommend it if you can afford the upfront cost. Great results and great specialists!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Downs and his team. I had a…read morecrown done by another dentist years ago, and an infection developed at the base. They were so caring-I was in so much pain-and they got me in early. They took a 3D Xray (not covered by insurance, but it was more than worth the money), which showed where the infection was. Dr. Downs showed it to me in the room and explained how he'd be fixing it by going UNDER the root canal, instead of removing the crown and re-doing the work. The technical skill alone is impressive, but the care was the most touching. They are so busy (I don't know when they even pause to eat lunch), but the brought me back in for the procedure (again, early because I was in pain) and the first thing they did was block me, so I wouldn't be in pain until my scheduled procedure time. I hope to never have that much tooth pain again. It really was miserable. But if it has to happen, I know where I'll be going immediately.

($2000) Six months later I made the appointment and showed up for the work to be done on my teeth, and by then the price had risen to nearly $3000 That's almost 50% in a few months. I asked if they would honor the quote they had given me previously. Of course, they would not. So I politely, but firmly communicated my disappointment that they had raised the price so much in such a short amount of time. I was told to leave and don't come back, because I expressed my opinion on their priceing policies. Later, when I got home, I started thinking maybe the price increase was due to possible pandemic price gouging. Now, five years later, I've been referred to them again, and they still will not see me. So if you want to deal with some arrogant pricks, that feel they are above criticism, this is the place for you. This is what you get, when a business has a monopoly in an area. It's a small town.
