After ongoing sensitivity and pain in one of my molars, my regular dentist determined that I needed…read morea root canal. They tried to do the procedure in the dentist's office, but they weren't able to get me numb enough, and referred me to Capital Endodontics. I was nervous going in - the experience in the dentist's office the week before had me convinced this was going to be a painful procedure. Dr. Landwehr immediately put me at ease. His chair-side manner was amazing, and the first thing he explained was why I experienced pain when the dentist tried to do the procedure, and how they would numb me so that wouldn't be repeated. He then went on to explain what was going on with my tooth, why I needed the root canal, how they would do the procedure, and why it was the right solution. The procedure itself was comfortable and quick. Dr. Landwehr was thorough in explaining what was going on the entire time - what I would smell, hear, and feel - which I greatly appreciated. I think one of the most notable things about the whole experience is the absence of any post-procedure discomfort or pain. My jaw is slightly sore from my mouth being open for so long, but the tooth and surrounding area feel fine - no sensitivity, no tenderness. I had my procedure around 2:45pm and by about 6:30pm all of the numbness was gone and I was able to eat a (relatively soft) dinner without any pain or discomfort in the tooth. I highly recommend these folks if you need a root canal, and from the other reviews here, looks like you can't go wrong with any of their practitioners!

Wow, what a fantastic root canal experience! -That's kind of a strange thing to say, but Dr. Kawas…read moreand her assistant Rachel were just fantastic. The procedure was done pretty quickly, with little pain and the personal interaction/conversation was so pleasant. The office is very large, bright and beautiful. It really took away the gloom of coming to treat a painful tooth! I'd say the only con is having to pay everything upfront. It was just under $1,000 and that's a lot to come up with at once for some people, but you really can't avoid getting a tooth treated that could lead to infection. I think they could really benefit having a payment plan if authorized. Luckily it ended up being my Christmas present from some family. I'm not sure we could afford going here again (our dentist in Baraboo gave us a written referral to Capital, I think they have a partnership) but I do highly recommend it if you can afford the upfront cost. Great results and great specialists!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Downs and his team. I had a…read morecrown done by another dentist years ago, and an infection developed at the base. They were so caring-I was in so much pain-and they got me in early. They took a 3D Xray (not covered by insurance, but it was more than worth the money), which showed where the infection was. Dr. Downs showed it to me in the room and explained how he'd be fixing it by going UNDER the root canal, instead of removing the crown and re-doing the work. The technical skill alone is impressive, but the care was the most touching. They are so busy (I don't know when they even pause to eat lunch), but the brought me back in for the procedure (again, early because I was in pain) and the first thing they did was block me, so I wouldn't be in pain until my scheduled procedure time. I hope to never have that much tooth pain again. It really was miserable. But if it has to happen, I know where I'll be going immediately.

Contemporary and clean atmosphere. So far they've been great at working with your schedule to get an appointment as soon as possible. Dr. Rehl is pretty good with answering questions and staying positive. My only complaint I'd say is sometimes when I say that I have some pain in an area, I'll get responses like "well you don't have any cavities there" and move on without addressing it further. It's still my go-to location and have recommended Village to my coworkers. Am I excited to go and have a root canal? No, not really. I do trust them though!

My childhood was wrought with health issues related to radiation. As such, my health choice is not…read moreto do x-rays unless it is an emergency. Village Family Dental Associates' website said it "provides optimal care and takes x-rays every 3 -5 years." The operative word is "provide"; it does not say x-rays are mandatory. I surmise it is not mandatory as a friend who also frequents this office chose not to do x-rays and his dentist complied. A friend who goes to a different practice chooses not to do routine x-rays and her dentist said "up to you." I have on a couple of occasions relented to routine x-rays when heavily pressured (3 years ago) but I have also demurred on the grounds of principle and health. After 15 years of having my teeth cleaned at the Black Earth office as well as undergoing a major tooth transplant to replace a broken tooth (that required x-rays to which I assented) and paying over $10,000 during said period, Dr. Hanna said I was no longer welcomed because I did not want to have x-rays, as my last ones were 3 years ago. "You're dismissed," she said. I suppose I will look for a dentist who says "Up to you" instead of "You're dismissed."
