I have gone to this practice for many years. Dr. Crafa is amazing but things are not the same. I had my appointment cancelled on me that I desperately need to get my anxiety meds refilled. Not to mention when I tried to get an appointment weeks ago on a Saturday I was told I couldn't because I was a new patient. I explained I have been a patient for many years just not in the last 5 because I lost my job with Covid and had no insurance. That apparently put me as a new patient. So now I make this appointment 2 weeks out and they cancel and can't offer me another Saturday for 3 weeks and can't see me at 6 after I work. Thank god I spoke to an urgent care doctor who felt bad for my situation and will refill my prescription that have bad side effects if I stop taking it. Do better. read more

I'm very happy with the care provided at AFM. Dr Crafa will take the time to listen to all your concerns and give proper and expert advice. AFM will now make same day appointments if you are ill, and provides full service for all your wellness needs. The entire staff was professional and courteous. I never felt rushed and never felt like just another number. The medical resident Dean who saw me first was very knowledgeable and understanding. And the medical tech Laura was very caring and professional. AFM is my recommendation for professional primary care and AFM will recommend proper specialty care when needed. read more

This practice was recommended to me by a good friend, and though I'm very picky when it comes to medical professionals I am very happy. The staff is very friendly and the environment is very professional. The doctors are typically DOs, which is a bit more education than an MD, there are residents, and they often have medical students there. The fact that they not only believe they can be helpful to students, but actually take the time to get them this experience impresses me very much. When thinking something was urgent, I received a call from Dr. Robles telling me to get to an emergency room. I feel like everyone there cares and I get great treatment from the Doctors and Physician's Assistants alike. Michael, the physician's assistant, is absolutely wonderful. He takes the time to listen, talk to you straight, and not rush you in-and-out. I highly recommend this practice, but mostly Michael. My husband and I both prefer to see him for every visit. If he ever leaves this practice, we will follow him wherever he goes. read more

Dr Lawrence Crafa has been my doctor since 2007 and I like him a lot and sometimes the visit can be a little rushed but he is thorough. I called today for a prescription for sleep and to see if he can squeeze me in for a quick visit(cause he was going to last Wednesday but I had a situation I couldn't make it) since they told me I have not been to the office since August. Anyways at this time I simply left a message for him to call me since Denise was giving me a hard time squeezing me in and she was harsh very short with me, this was sometime 11AM. I called her back in minutes I decided to go ahead to make an appointment, set for next Tuesday morning. And advised her my message for Dr. Crafa to call me is still valid and expected. She implied she didn't know what I was talking about and I asked her didn't I just talk to you and she said no. OK sorry. So I said again to her, I left a message for Dr. Crafa to call me and I'm still expecting that call not cancel it because I made an appointment to see him next week. She keeps pretending not understanding me and I had to repeat myself several times. I have not been feeling well the past week and this was very stressing specially with her very harsh voice and negative attitude, worse than the first time the person(I thought I swear this is the same person) anyways she finally said OK. I have a very busy schedule, work and 2 dentist appointment. Within half an hour I find myself driving to my doctors office, and on the phone with Denise again, asked to speak to the person who set my appointment, I'm on hold, 7 minutes later Denise I think gets on ph, I asked her name, she puts me on hold again, 10 minutes past, a person gets on the phone and I first told her I've been waiting over 10 minutes, she says oh really I was out to lunch you should have somebody else help you. WOW and she confirms that she was the one who talk to me earlier and set my appointment and told me her name after I asked her. Of course she knows what I was about to say, I told her she has a negative attitude, now she has a smart mouth as well, how she was telling me that she does not have a negative attitude. I simply told her I didn't call her to argue I just want to let her know that she has a negative attitude and people who is calling the office are more likely sick and that we do not need the negative attitude addition to that. And I also simply told her that I will let my Dr know about her negative attitude. Now I find myself front of my doctors office with the sign the new location address. Wow they tell me I have not been here since August yet fail to tell me their new location when I made an appointment. SAD Now I drive to the new location, wanting to speak to the person and my doctor as well. Yes that person upset me so much with extreme harshness that I'm driving 40 minutes to see her. Once I arrived at the office the person the name I know she flat out denied it was not her, and about five people or so in the office just flat out denied wasn't them. WOW Anyways at this point I also asked them when were they going to tell me about the new location, One said they not telling anybody that they have a sign up an old location (multiple crying face) I did not put this person's name here because she flat denied it wasn't her that she is trying to convince me that she just came to work that she did not talk to anybody and specially not me and she asked please not to mention her name online. I have already mentioned to her that I am writing the situation all that happened online. I have wasted so much time today because she simply couldn't be a nice person. I don't ask much, simple respect for each other, if that's too much just nice tone of voice, just a normal voice, please just NO harshness, we don't need it! I don't know why I have two stars, today's experience is beyond hurtful and depressing. :'( read more

Been a patient from the beginning over 15 years along with my whole family and several friends. Dr. Crafa is excellent, caring and always returns phone calls. The office staff is very personable unlike some of the other posts, in all my years as a patient I was never turned away or treated with anything but kindness when calling or in person. If I could give a negative star I would and he is the problem it's the office not the doctors. Why is it so difficult to have a script written to have blood taken at a lab??? This place takes your appointment that you're coming for a regular check up and doesn't even thing to either A ask if you're getting blood or B when the appointment is coming hey do you think that you're gonna need to get blood we can send the script. If it was only once or twice I would be thrilled (and I mean really FN thrilled!!!) with it but when you waste a patient's time double digits over the course of years going and being with this practice you are just outright telling me you don't care about me. I have NEVER had my blood taken in the office as the office staff member claims is the regular process. It's time to move on to someone else who cares about their patients. I have nothing but good things to say about this practice. When my Dr. left his practice I was recommended by my pharmacist to see Dr. Crafa. While I started with Dr. Narayanan who subsequently moved to Jersey. I saw the PA and ultimately Dr. Crafa himself. I love that interns come in fist take vitals etc. This practice partners with Northwell Health training DOs. The office staff had always been extremely caring and helpful and never a long wait. Worst place. I have been here twice and both times I was always given interns before seeing the doctor (Dr. Robles), and Dr. Robles will only give 10 minutes of his time and would not give much professional recommendation. Googling is more helpful then going here. The front staff are the worst. They always have a chip on their shoulders and are not helpful at all. I have never in my life experienced the agony of this office. I suggest anyone thinking about going here. Get used to Diane's name because she is really rough around the edges Tamisha, is a sarcastic and very arrogant individual who likes reciting words at you and talking loud . You can feel the antagonism over the phone . They are two Hitlers telling people what they can and cannot do. Business must be great for Doctor Crafa, and Doctor Robles, who glide in and out and never stay at the practice more than 1x per week . You get RESIDENTS there. Doctor Crafa, and Robles prepare residents to become doctors. They are all in training under this practice the legacy of Doctor Rachlin, (God rest his soul), who was the star of the show no one can measure up to his respect and nurturing ways and since his death that practice has just gone wrong. So unless you need a well appointment they cannot do paperwork for you , they cant send labs or receive labs, prescriptions, they blame the pharmacy or they blame the insurance. However North Shore Labs is a wonderful institution and a few of the people working there have said Advanced Family Medicine is the worst office they do not know how to work the computer. This practice is really behind the times they dont use state of the art programs. Even when the Doctor puts the rx in the computer you still cant get your renewed meds. They like chatting all day while you are sick and trying to get an appt. When you call they act like you are bothering them. forget anything other than a well visit . They do not have the competence of better practices that place is all about convenience. Its a show everyday with the women behind the glass they compete on who they can make feel bad or bring to tears . I am so sorry I did not leave sooner but now the shackles are off and I am out. I have been a patient of this practice for many years. I like that they have interns and residents who see you first. They have the time to listen and gather all of the necessary information to present to the doctor when he arrives. Yes, the doctor spends maybe 10 minutes with you. That is unfortunately the way corporate and/ or insurance-driven medicine goes today. The fact that they are a training office means that they are up-to-date on medicine. They have been computerized for about 7 years, something that most if not all of medicine must be. Prescriptions must be sent electronically now. I've had problems with this in other offices (wrong prescriptions, etc) but not here. Yes, the front desk tends to be somewhat frosty; I attribute that to the paperwork burden they work under. I haven't had any real problem with them. What it comes down to is that, like for every field of medicine, you must be your own advocate. I, personally, am deeply satisfied with this office and the depth of knowledge of Drs. Crafa, Robles, et al. read more
