I scheduled an ear cleaning (wax removal) with Advanced Hearing Group. I was told it was a $95 charge for the procedure and they will not accept insurance despite the fact that their website lists my carrier as an accepted provider. They charged as soon as I arrived and checked in for the procedure. Kelly Lewis spent less than 4 minutes with me and told me my ears did not need cleaning and maybe I need a hearing test which she did not have time to do. Not sure how she did not have time since she never performed the procedure. I went to check out at the front desk and let them know I did not get the procedure. Kelly Lewis appeared and said but you had an appointment so you need to pay. If they were to submit this billing code/charge to my insurance company I'm guessing it would be considered fraud since they did not do the procedure. I'm out $95 and nothing was accomplished. Hopefully someone reading this can learn from my mistake and save yourself the time and money. read more

To appease my family, I went for a hearing test. Very modern, comfortable, clean office. Amanda did my testing - very friendly, chatty ,and explained all the tests as they were being done. She showed me a huge image of my inner ear. I must say, pretty gross. After testing, maybe 30 minutes total, she's sat me down with my husband to explain the results. NORMAL! As others have stated, they do a great job of cleaning ears. The hearing test didn't go so well since the job was not done by Dr. Lewis, but rather someone in training who was unable to properly fit the earpieces. Since I was a new patient, I would've appreciated Having Dr. Lewis do the initial visit herself. She did do the cleaning. Since the recommended hearing aids were quite expensive, I elected to get my hearing aids elsewhere. I was very well impressed by the ear cleaning, and I would go back again for that. read more

My husband and I are from out of town and one of his hearing aids was not working. He thought it was a wax guard that needed replacing, but that didn't help. He called his audiologist from home and they looked up Phonax audiologoists in the Scottsdale area and your office was closest to our location. They had him come in the next morning, and Sophia at the front desk was able to do a hard reset and got his hearing aids to work again...at no charge. Knowing that we would spend more time in Scottsdale in the future, I highly recommend this group and I plan to become a patient of theirs for their service. read more

Dr. Gary Johnson spent about an hour with me asking about my satisfaction with my current hearing aids. He asked about issues I was having with them, reviewing my old hearing tests and reprogramed one of my hearing aids. I have seen 5 Audiologists in the last 6 years and Dr Johnson's knowledge was better than all 5 put together. He charged me $25.00 for the reprogramming. He did not try to sell me anything. He now has a new customer for life! read more

I know this is a long review - feel free to skip to the end. The bottom line is Advanced Hearing Group should be part of your health care routine because they do an excellent job of cleaning your ears if they need it for the price of $20/ ear and if your ears are clear, there is no charge for the exam! If one ear needs clearing it's just $20.00. Don't take a chance of damaging your eardrum by trying to get the wax out yourself...it's not worth it! Wouldn't it be wonderful if health care was not so complicated and expensive ...Where making an appointment to see a health care provider were not so stressful? ..where you would actually see the doctor within an hour of the appointed time. Where there are no rules set in stone by your health !insurance plan, no referral from your primary doctor...no "in network" requirements? Where if nothing was wrong after being examined there was no charge?? I have found such a place! I had gone to see a doctor who gave me a thorough examination. I was told I had a heavy build up of wax in one ear ...but they didn't remove it! I tried to remove it myself with some over the counter wax removal kits, but all I did was manage to give myself a good earache. Finally I had to do something...I looked on line for an ear specialist and found the "Advanced Hearing Group" I got an appointment for the next morning. Dr. Gary Johnson examined my ears with a light and camera that showed on a screen exactly what he was doing so I could watch the entire procedure ...in my attempt to clear the wax in my right ear I had succeeded in pushing the wax deeper. I watched Gary, as he likes to be called, work the wax carefully to the surface and out.. He then checked my left ear and that was normal. I had been informed that the charge would be $40. ... $20/ear. However, Dr Gary would only charge $20 total. He said come back in six months and I'll have a look...if your ears are clear there will be NO CHARGE. That is amazing. I will never try to clean the wax out of my ears and risk the damage I might have done.... Not when Dr. Gary Johnson will examine me for free and only charge if I need wax removed! I urge you to go to see for yourselves what healthcare can be! Take your family! Take your kids. read more

If we could give Dr. Amanda Jones 10 stars we would!! I brought BOTH my mother and mother-in-law in today to get their wax removed and have their hearing tested. Dr. Jones was AMAZING. They were so delightfully surprised at the ease and comfort of having their fully-packed ears cleaned of wax (and loved watching it on the screen!), and the hearing test was also comfortable and thorough. Dr. Jones is compassionate, kind, extremely thorough and efficient. She made an appointment that they both did not look forward to, a pleasant experience! They have both said they look forward to going back to her in the future. WOW! read more

I have my ears irrigated regularly, but this was my first time going to Advanced Hearing Group. WOW. All the other doctors use water irrigation, which is messy, time consuming, a little uncomfortable, and they usually don't get it all ( settling for "good enough). Dr. Kelly Lewis (N. Scottsdale location) used a magnified camera, large monitor, and a curettage instrument to remove the wax. I could see the wax (yeah, gross), and could see her remove it all (visually and physically). It took less than 5 minutes (seriously...the paperwork took longer than the appointment). The cost was $20/ear, cash. They'll let you know if both ears need it (and you can see it, because of the camera/monitor). If you use insurance and have a co-pay, it is more. I will be using AHG from this day forward. Strongly recommend! read more

Took my elderly mother to Advanced Hearing Group in N Scottsdale. The owner is Kelly Lewis and she was amazing. Heavy wax buildup removed and adjusted Her hearing aids. They even has a resident golden retriever on this day. Highly recommend this group and elderly friendly. read more

I went to Advanced Hearing Group today. Dr. Gary Johnson endoscopically removed impacted ear wax from both of my ears. This was an exceptional experience! Dr. Johnson was so knowledgeable, professional, caring, personable and highly skilled! It just took a few minutes for him to carefully remove the earwax and I immediately felt so much better! I originally went to have custom molded ear protection made by another professional, who evaluated my ears prior, and discovered I had impacted ear wax, only visible with with otoscope. This ear professional informed me I needed to have this ear wax taken care of before she could make my custom molds. That lead me to find Advanced Hearing Group, through an on line search. I wanted the ear wax removed endoscopically by an expert because I didn't want to mess around with over the counter kits. In any case, after my ear wax was removed, I asked Dr. Johnson questions about different types of hearing protection and how they compare. He was thoroughly knowledgeable, answered all my questions and patiently explained so much to me! Although they make custom hearing protection at AHG, Dr. Johnson said he did not want to take away business from the original practitioner I had seen, especially since they were going about the process in the right way, by not fitting custom molds with and underlying earwax issue that would not give you the best fitting. I was impressed with Dr. Johnson's high ethical standards! In addition, the AHG office is immaculate, aesthetically pleasing and all the staff are caring, professional and efficient. The cost was very affordable.. $50 dollars for both ears. read more

I'm a bit younger than their usual client, but taking care of your hearing while you're young is important if you want to still have it when you're old. I was helped by Gary Johnson and he was very friendly and personable. We chatted about my line of work and what I was hoping to accomplish through the visit. In addition to the hearing tests I was able to get some custom fitting hearing protection I can use when I'm working, I often have to deal with high volume/duration sound as part of my job, to make sure my hearing stays good for years to come. If you're looking for someone to help with your hearing issues, or just to make sure everything is functioning as well as it should, I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

I was referred to Advanced Hearing Group by a family member. I had a problem with my right ear and new it needed cleaning because I was having a hard time hearing. I called and spoke with Jude, she was very friendly and helped with setting up an appointment. She also went out of her way to check on the coverage of my personal insurance as well as sent me the forms to fill out via email. This made the experience very easy and fast. I walked in to the North Scottsdale Office. The receptionist asked if I had an appointment. I had one with Dr. Gary Johnson. I handed them the paperwork I had completed via the email from Jude. Right away Dr. Johnson greeted me and attended me. He was very friendly and informative. I needed my ears cleaned. This was a fast and painless process. I was in and out in about 15 minutes.
