Update: The office has gotten better at returning phone calls and setting getting appointments handled

I would give zero stars if I could. Intensely frustrating at every interaction. - took 45+ min on hold to get an appointment - initial appt canceled without warning - repeat phone call on hold for 30 min to reschedule - Rx repeatedly sent to incorrect pharmacy despite contacting to correct preferred pharmacy - Rx sent as more expensive capsules instead of tablets Nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone and my follow up appointment is 3 months after my first appointment. Again, not ideal when dealing with thyroid issues. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. The constant problems with prescription refills and appointments are beyond frustrating. Their telehealth appointments are a joke. I have literally been left sitting there for an hour with no explanation, no call, and no notification that they were having an issue and couldn't conduct the appointment. Apparently, my time means nothing to them. The worst part has been dealing with Farhad Farjoudi. I repeatedly told him that I was sometimes having to use 60-80 units of insulin just to bring my blood sugar down from around 300. I wasn't mentioning this once and moving on -- I explained that it was happening frequently and that I was concerned about it. Instead of listening to what I was actually telling him or trying to figure out WHY this was happening, he basically dismissed my concerns and acted like it wasn't a big deal. He seemed more interested in looking at the averages from my insulin pump than listening to the actual problem I was experiencing. What is the point of having a medical provider if they aren't going to listen when you tell them something is wrong? I've had enough. Between the prescription issues, the completely unacceptable communication, the ridiculous telehealth experiences, and feeling like my concerns were simply brushed aside, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who expects their healthcare provider to actually listen to them and take their concerns seriously. The doctor I saw last year left and the office called and left a message to schedule me with someone else. However I continued to received emails about an upcoming appt with the doctor who was no longer there. Obviously a software issue. I left 3 messages by phone and one online by portal. No one returned my call. I won't go back. They must not need the business. read more

Absolutely the worst place and customer service Ive ever experienced . I have called and called and called....I did get to talk to someone the first time I called but they didn't have my referral so they wouldn't make an appointment without it. I emailed the referral over to them but they still wouldn't make the appointment without seeing the original. Since then I have called over 5 times, left messages, sent emails and still no one has returned my calls or emails. I will not do business with the place. Calling my PCP to get referred elsewhere. read more

So nice medical center, doctors, nurses, and staff. I am writing in quality of Spanish interpreter, this is one of my favorite facilities to go. They managed the schedules pretty well and rarely the visits start later than the time scheduled. I have been going regularly since last year and always a pleasure to help people here. They share the building with other medical offices. All modern and they is a pretty large parking lot so never found an issue trying to find parking. read more

I have been going to a doctor who moved to this practice. She was a great doctor who recently retired. The PA who took her place was pretty good but I've had to put up with the same issues as many of you have had, where it is impossible to talk to anyone on the phone at the office when you need a refill, have a question, etc, and everything is through the portal, but they don't answer that either. Today was the final straw. After getting countless reminders about my appointment through the portal, email and text, I showed up and no one was at the front desk, as usual. I checked in at the electronic kiosk. And waited. And waited. And waited. After about 25 minutes I went in the back area to find out if they knew I was there and they told me the PA was not in today and I should have been notified! What? Couldn't they see I was checked in and waiting? And no one came out to let me know? Just poor office management all around. read more

I knew the reviews were bad, but I had a great first appointment with a PA and thought I would give them a chance. I did not have a lot of options anyway. The PA got all 3 of my prescriptions incorrect when sending them to CVS. I called multiple times over a couple of weeks to get this problem fixed. CVS also attempted to call them. Not a single call back or answer. Ever. I wound up having to go to Urgent Care to get my insulin. Never got that call back, until today, a month or so later, after I left a message telling them that I am cancelling any future appointments. They did not get cancelled. I had to call again and listen to an infuriating song about endocrinology (a country song, no less!) for over 10 minutes. I got hung up on twice, accidentally, I suppose. I tried to cancel via text. It didn't work. Finally I got a person and cancelled and told them exactly why. If you don't care if I survive, shown by their lack of response to me and CVS, I will not support your business, lol. If I could give it zero stars I would. I suppose the one star could be for the first PA, who was super nice and thorough, until it came to my Rxs, at least? read more

We meet with Charlene Dobashi every 6 months to manage my mom's diabetes. She is thorough, caring, knowledgeable, and kind. She listens to our concerns and answers all our questions. Under her management my mom's health has flourished and we are beyond grateful for her medical care. read more

Update - it took a couple of weeks, but I finally got a response back from my provider. I did get apologies along with they are not sure when the issues they are experiencing will be resolved. Interestingly, I guess their solution is to outsource the scheduling of patient appointments. I received a phone call this morning from someone outside the country, although extremely nice, but she had a very strong accent which at times made it difficult to understand her. She was very sweet, but did confirm that she was nowhere in the United States. So AMCR is outsourcing I guess, to fill in the gaps of where they are shortstaffed. I appreciate their efforts, but I am a little concerned about the lack of personal attention, as a patient, that I will end up receiving, along with the response times regarding urgent matters. read more

They prompt you to use their portal for new patient appointment, but the calendar does not work. I tried calling, the rude Indian guy can't find me in system, do not let me give him my medical number, and questioning me why I think I need endocrinologist, why I have not seen any family doctor ( I am PPO). And ask me why my Kaiser information is not in their system (Completely different systems). And refused me to transfer me to anybody else. So frustrating! read more

Since there are no negative stars I'm forced to give them one star. There was a time when this office had integrity, but lately, they've gone downhill. I have been trying to obtain prior authorization as of February 14th for my insulin and as of today March 13, NOTHING!!!! I've contacted their office via voicemail and portal 20 times with no response. It wasn't until I physically went to the office and made a stink that I FINALLY received a crappy response via their portal by Dr. Bailey placing blame on Caremark when AMCR is the problem. AMCR needs to complete my prior authorization, not Caremark. I filed a patient grievance with my insurance and contacted my PCP. This place is a joke. If you value your life/care highly, I suggest you seek treatment elsewhere. read more

I've called about 10 times in the last week and 9/10 times it went to voicemail. When I did get ahold of someone they created a new patient profile and told me they would call back to schedule the appointment. I haven't gotten a call back yet, and I have tried calling several times after and can't get ahold of anyone. They put you on hold for about 5 minutes before it sends you to voicemail. Their online appointment booking isn't working either, the page just pulls up a white screen with their logo. I just want to schedule an appointment, I know healthcare is overloaded in general right now but at least have an avenue for communication like email where I know i'll hear back when there's time. it can be a 3 week wait time to hear back that's fine, just communicate. read more

They never answer their phones! After a long wait, 15 or more minutes on hold, a recording comes on saying to leave a message. But, they don't respond to that either. Going to the patient portal is a joke- they don't return those messages either! Just want to order an rx refill- now I'm completely out of meds!! Update: after 3 weeks and several messages, someone finally responded saying an emergency prescription was called in to local pharmacy but pharmacy says nothing was called in! Dr. Radhika Hariharan is great. The lady that helps her as well. But the NEVER being able to reach anyone for anything is beyond negligent! How can you care for people if you never ever have ever answered your phone. Ever. That's complete LACK of care. One cannot make an appointment, find out about blood results, ask a question, nothing. It's been over a week and still nothing. I've called and left so many messages. This isn't ok. Then you finally call at 7:30 in the morning. I missed it and call back immediately to again wait on hold and eventually get sent to leave a message never getting to talk with a person. In the office told to get on the patient portal. We've ALL told you how horrible that portal is if one can ever get on it because it's an absolute mess. Read the reviews and avoid this place. Stinks because I love my Dr there but my health is being neglected so I have to start the process of attempting to find another office thus have to change drs. Sad. Total disregard to patient care. Same issues as posted by many other reviewers. I have been seeing Elena Eckard (PA) for almost 10 years and she has been great. She is very knowledgeable and has great interpersonal skill. She has prescribed the leading-edge medicines as they have become available. These have greatly helped me. However, the front office people are beyond horrible. They never answer the phone and never return your calls for the voice mail messages you leave. They do not respond to prescription refill requests from my pharmacy even when I have the pharmacy send repeated requests. Overall, they are rude and negligent. On one occasion, after my visit with Elena, an assistant came into the room and told me she would be right back to schedule my next appointment. She then went back to the main area and gabbed with one of the other assistants for 45 minutes about their love lives [I could hear them] before coming back to schedule my next visit. On my previous visit, an assistant brought me from the visiting waiting area to an eye testing machine to measure my vision acuity. After they started the test, I realized what they were doing and asked if they planned to bill my insurance company for this test and was told - yes. I had just seen my ophthalmologist 3 weeks earlier and did not need my endocrinologist measuring my vision. They never asked if I needed or wanted an eye test. They now charge my insurance company $100 to prick my finger and measure my blood sugar (used to be free with the examination). I brought up with Elena the fact that they don't answer phones or return calls. She explained that they cannot afford to hire another person to answer phone calls. I usually can't be bothered to write reviews but I'm pretty teed off. After 10 years of competent care from Elena, I now need to find another endocrinologist. read more

Avoid at all cost. I have been a patient for two years now and every experience has been horrific. I have well managed type one diabetes and need to have an endocrinologist sign off paperwork to keep both my commercial driving license and captains license. They were unable to help me when I needed a simple paper signed off. One month they will except my insurance then the next they do not. I payed out of pocket to be seen the visit before last and this morning, day of my appt. I get a message saying it has been canceled because they are out of network. They do not answer the phone ever... now I have to drive over an hour to show up and beg them to send a referral to somewhere else. People's lives are at stake and they are just in it for money and don't care about our lives! read more

I was very disappointed in the the level of service that was provided by Dr. Bailey at the Advanced Metabolic Care and Research clinic. I was referred to an endocrinologist to determine if my constellations of concerns were related to significant reduction in endocrine functioning. I was excited to have this appointment so soon after the referral that I even went ahead and drove 45 minutes each way to attend this appointment. When I arrived, the check in process was tedious but I understand the need for the detailed process. When I was seen by Dr. Bailey, he was curtious and friendly but that is where my positive impression ended. I was expecting a comprehensive evaluation regarding the symptoms I was experiencing. However, he went directly into reviewing the blood results and telling me that everything was normal. He also started on this diatribe of how athletes are always seeking to get testosterone injections and that this is what they do to get the gold medal. (On a side note, I do not play sports!) He also went on about how women ask for testosterone and how it shortens men's lives. He then went on to review the other blood work and noted a reduced amount of SHBG and was not able to tell me why it was low. He asked what medications I was taking (after I had already submitted the list of medications as part of the referral process). He proceeded to check on PubMed if there was any information on reductions in SHBG. What amazes me is that he even told me that these levels are low and that it is typically not seen in men until they are in their 70s. He also acknowledged that he did not know why SHBG is low but that it is not a disease that needs to be treated. When I asked if her could explain why I was having the myriad concerns I was experiencing he suggested that I see a sleep doctor for the insomnia. He quickly said I don't know why you aren't sleeping. He also assumed that I was feeling tired and I told him that this was not the only concern. He was very dismissive when I started explaining everything I have been going through. At no point did he even ask me what I was experiencing or why I believe that low testosterone is the main cause of how I have been feeling. He asked me if I had taken testosterone in the past which I did acknowledge I did. He then said "I bet you felt like a million bucks didn't you?" at which I responded "No, I felt like myself". He then said "Well, I can't help you because your levels are normal". Clearly they are not and he acknowledged this a few minutes before. I asked him why he did not ask me about what symptoms I was experiencing and he quickly defended himself by throwing Dr. Syed under the bus and saying "Your doctor just wanted me to see if your levels were normal. He didn't ask me to do a complete work up." Clearly this doctor and his clinic do not care about his patients and only want to charge the insurance his rates and charge patient's the co-pays. Furthermore, given the lack of questioning or physical evaluation I do not believe he has the clinical knowledge or expertise to address this concern. Additionally, when I explained that I was under the assumption he would ask me about what I was feeling, and that given the lack of investigation, that I do not trust his clinical judgement. He simply shrugged his shoulders and walked out of the examining room. There was no acknowledgement of my concerns or any follow up communication with me. His unprofessionalism, lack of clinical expertise, and patient/doctor manners is appalling. read more

One star-- and that is for the PA who consulted with me. Zero stars for every other point of interaction, both human and technological. 4/15: Consult went fine. P.A. Mattson was excellent. Ended the consult with lab order and great instructions for further care. I asked if I should stay on the line to schedule my 4-week follow up. She said someone would be calling me to do that. 4/29: I never heard back from anyone. So I called to schedule the appointment myself. I waited on the line for 10 minutes before the recording came on to tell me to leave a message. There was no option to stay on the line. So I left a message saying that I needed an appointment so I could schedule my labs one week before the follow-up. 4/30 (9:12 AM): A voicemail message was left on my phone. The office rep (she did not leave her name) bypassed speaking to me. She opted to just leave a message telling me that the lab order was put in but they didn't have my email address to send it to me. And that I needed to have labs before my follow-up appointment (which is exactly what I said in my message) and that I need to use the portal to make the appointment. I downloaded the portal (terrible technology) and tried to make a follow-up appointment. The interface doesn't give you multiple dates or times. You have to put in one date and time-window you'd like and then it will tell you if it's available. I did this for several date options and each time, it said the schedule wasn't available. I also tried editing my profile and it would not let me add information such as emergency contact or EMAIL ADDRESS. The only thing it allowed me to do is upload insurance information. No surprise there, as it has to do with money. 4/30 (after maddening portal experience): I called again to try and schedule an appointment. Once again, I held on the line for about 10 minutes and was once again forced to leave a message with no option to stay on the line. I stated assertively that I had followed instructions and the procedures they have were not working. I asked that someone return my call and not send a message directly to my voicemail. I read in another patient's review that he had to drive to the office several times to get answers because he was never able to get through on the phone. I will not be doing that. 5/2: Three days later, I still have not had a return call. I have made an appointment with my Primary Care Provider to ask for a referral to a different provider. It's a shame because I liked PA Mattson--she seemed very good. She was very patient and encouraging--and really good at explaining things. One of the things PA Mattson mentioned was cortisol levels/stress hormones. I wish the office staff (and whoever chose the Healow portal app) cared about reducing patient stress rather than adding to it. I really hope any prospective patients consider this inept office communication before making an informed decision about their care. read more

Terrible experience. If you start with the NP, you won't be allowed to see the doctor. I got terribly sick on her treatment and was told she couldn't help me. She seemed in over her head. When I went elsewhere, the endocrinologist figured out quickly what was wrong with the treatment and thank goodness I now feel better. read more

Absolutely the worst medical experience in my 83 year life. First of all, you can't ever talk to a live person. When you call, the recording says to use their patient portal. That still won't get you any attention such as a callback. My first appointment was changed by recorded phone message and reinstated 3 weeks later. They also told me to get another blood test. When I got to the Lab Corp, they had no Order so no test or reschedule was received. Now, the location for my scan appt., 4 days from now, was changed to Temecula instead of Escondido. How could anyone trust their diagnosis? I just drove 30 mi one way to confirm the date & location. They have given me 2 different dates and times. Today they said it is for 11:30 11/4. I came home and called again to ask which location; Palomar Hospital or the Dr. office. The hospital said they don't do scans on Fridays. So now what? read more

Dr. Timothy Bailey Endocrinologist the worst Dr Bed side manner terrible. Kept waiting one hour for my 5 minute appointment for lab results which he said were fine I asked why I don't feel fine? To no answer! Ask him to forward my results he said "you can do it" My Dr atUCSD he couldn't believe how off all my thyroid levels were. He told me to come back in 4 months!!! They just seem to want your money, and really don't care about your health as a patient. They lack of care I received as someone who just suffered a miscarriage was appalling. I have a thyroid disorder, pcos, and have recently suffered two miscarriages. I was supposed to have my thyroid levels monitored throughout my pregnancy, but when I had a miscarriage, I called and let them know that would not be necessary, as the pregnancy had ended. A week later, they called me asking me to schedule an appointment to address my recurrent miscarriages since Dr. Aiken is a "fertility specialist". I was ectastic someone really cared and wanted to help. However, when the appointment rolled around, the doctor was extremely late to the appointment, then asked me how my pregnancy was going.. Um.. you were the one that scheduled the appointment to talk about my miscarriages?! When I broke the news, she didn't really act that sorry, and was messaging people on her computer the ENTIRE appointment. She never apologized for herself, instead kept saying she was sorry I had a miscarriage. She also since I only had two miscarriages, she wouldn't look into it.. then why did you schedule the appointment with me? She then told me to up a dose of a prescription with no explanation, other than "that's the normal amount other people take". When I asked if she could order it at the pharmacy for me, she told me I would have to call my other doctor.. Again, what are you doing? What is this appointment for? She gave me no opportunity to ask questions. Literally nothing was completed in the appointment they scheduled. I called the receptionist, explained what happened, and said I will not be paying for an appointment as they scheduled it and nothing was provided. They sent me a bill for $50. I am so disgusted with this practice. read more

I can't even post about what any interactions with the staff have been like because I can't reach anyone from their office over the phone to save my life. I've called for weeks now at all hours of the work day thinking maybe they're on lunch or closed early or opening late or what have you. However, every time I'll be on hold for 10+ minutes listening to their theme song, before being routed to their voice mailbox because their "office is closed" but that someone will get back to me within the next business day. I've now left 4 voicemails over the span of weeks and haven't received any semblance of communication from their office. If this is any indication of what being a patient is like, and from the reviews I believe it is, I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

Update! Mo' appointments, mo' problems. They never called me or returned my calls after my last bloodwork, and told me the bloodwork before that was fine. As it turns out, it was not fine. So I went several months thinking everything was good when bloodwork A was not good and bloodwork B had a failed test, meaning I needed to redo it. Which they never told me, soooo. Went in for a follow up, which got rescheduled a couple times, brought this up, and the doctor claimed that I had been told the bloodwork's results. I had not. So she reordered the failed test for me to do again. Of course, she never sent the order, so when I showed up to labcorp on a timed test related to taking a prescribed pill at midnight the night before, I was out of luck. Except that labcorp looked up the test she ordered and still did a blood draw and called them to fax the order after the fact so that I didn't have to redo anything. Thanks labcorp! Except they called me back later and turns out she wanted two additional tests. So I have to do another blood draw. If you can avoid this office do so at all costs. read more

If there was a 0 star I would have selected that. I've been waiting for an appointment for 3 months. A week before my appointment, I get a call telling me that my referral has expired and they cant see me. I immediately schedule an appointment with my primary doctor to issue me a new referral and once completed I reschedule my appointment at this place. Today, I arrived for my appointment and I'm greeted by this rude receptionist "Sandra". She doesn't say good morning, no smile, no eye contact, just "Do you have an appointment." I told her I had a 9:15 apt. and after sitting and waiting for 10 minutes she tells me, we don't have a referral on file for you so we can't see you. I explain to her that I had just had it done by my primary doctor but she obviously didn't care. She said that someone tried calling me yesterday and they left me a voice message. I told her that I did see 2 missed calls from their office and I tried calling them back but their machine indicated they were close. I had no one from this office leave me a voice mail. Furthermore, yesterday I received an email reminder of my appointment today. I understand things happen and sometimes there beyond our control. All you can do is try to find a way to fix the problem. With all the frustration that we have to but up with as we navigate these medical requirements, to then have to put up with someone like Sandra who not only is rude, unprofessional and non compassionate makes matters a lot worst. I loved my Dr Bruce, Liliana. She saved my life. I was going through probably the toughest period of my life and her maturity, compassion and most of all patience and expertise helped and lead me to solutions that resolved the quagmire that was my existence at the time. But she is gone now but she made a world of difference. . I see Christopher now and he is a lovely and caring person. He already is promising to be a special and exceptional provider and I a feel privileged to have him as my main provider. read more

My envision of having an Endocrinologist is much different than reality. I see a Physician's Assistant. All those years of education, to say let's try this medication or this medication or this medication and eat less carbs. Oh, ok. Oh, you are experiencing negative side effects from this medication? Ok, let's switch you to this medication. I cry after every visit. Some kudos or encouragement for my efforts would be nice. Maybe I just need to be coddled .... I dunno. Having a life threatening disease (Type 2 Diabetes) is no fun. read more
