I asked her do you want to try that again? She said sorry and began to introduce herself with attitude, my name is Cindy what can I help you with!! I said nothing and that I was going to switch my dad's referral to a company that wanted his business. If she was going to give me attitude the first time we spoke on the phone, what kind of attitude would she have given my 83-year-old father in poor health? I will never use West Coast Valley Medical, and I hope whoever reads this won't ether!

My review is specifically for the ER department…read more I truly try to be understanding because I know hospitals are understaffed, overwhelmed, and the staff deals with difficult situations every day. I've always remained polite and patient during my visits. But after multiple experiences here, I honestly feel like something needs to be said. Every single time I've come to this ER, the wait has been excessive -- usually 7+ hours just to be seen or placed in a room, followed by several more hours waiting for updates or care once inside. I understand emergencies happen and patients are prioritized by severity, but the overall experience feels extremely disorganized and lacking compassion. The waiting room is consistently dirty and overcrowded, with visibly sick people sitting for hours without updates. What bothered me most, though, was the attitude from some of the staff at the front desk. Patients and family members asking simple questions are often spoken to like they're inconveniencing the staff just for needing help or clarification. During my most recent visit, I spent nearly 10 hours there before eventually deciding to decline admission and go home. I was placed in a room without a pillow or blanket and asked three separate times for a blanket, but was ignored each time. No one expects perfection, especially in a busy ER. But basic compassion, communication, and respect should still exist. People come to the emergency room scared, sick, in pain, and vulnerable. The way patients are treated matters just as much as the medical care itself. I genuinely hope this department improves, because no patient should leave feeling dismissed, ignored, or like they were a burden for simply needing medical help.

Thankfully, this office…read moreopened up close to my house, and I no longer have to drive all the way to Santa Monica City. I had a 3:15pm appointment with Dr. Mendoza, on the 10th of this month for my yearly physical. Got there 15 minutes early and Blanca at the front desk checked me in & Silvia checked me out. Both ladies were very nice, helpful, pleasant and polite. For a physical, they don't charge you. By the time I took a seat in their waiting area, which is very clean with complimentary water (hot and cold), my name was called by Christina. She took me to room #10 to do all my vitals. This lady is just AMAZING in every way on every level. She is the sweetest, soft spoken, kind, nice, helpful medical assistant that I know of. She has seen me twice before. Did her job and left. She is also very knowledgeable & compassionate. Next up is my primary doctor, Dr. Mendoza. He goes over my chart/records and highly suggested for me to take a Pneumonia shot addressing that people over 50 are highly recommended to do so, but NOT required. So the ball was in my court. I agreed to take that shot to prevent from other illnesses in the near future. Especially, when I suffered from Shingles not too long ago. Dr.Mendoza is good. He can be a bit more thorough, he is a bit too fast and quick. However, he does know his job pretty well. I wish one day he can address me by my name. Requested 6 different types of blood work and left the office. The entire visit overall took less than an hour. Blood work normally takes 24 to 48 hours for us to get our results. Dr. Mendoza replied/emailed in less than 24 hours. Thank you for that. Christina came back to give me the shot. She was so gentle that I didn't even feel the needle in my left arm. She even asked me if I am right handed or left. Based on my answer, she did what she was supposed to do. It's a 2-story building so I went back to the 2nd floor to get my labwork done. It was easy, breezy. Kenneth, that could have been a little bit more pleasant and slap a smile on his face was not that welcoming like Rosario is. Did his job and I left. Underground parking, very steep, watch the walls not to crash or hit the wall and other cars. 2 elevators working perfectly, and they accept most credit cards, most insurance plans/payments and that's all that I know. Bathrooms are available on both floors and overall the bathrooms and facility are very clean!! This building used to be some movie/celebrity building. They have so many of black and white photos of late celebrities. Too beautiful. Don't listen or read those negative, one or two star reviews. Negative people will always stay negative. Whatever that you do for them, it's never good enough. But they still keep going back to the same restaurants, stores, hospitals, cleaners, gas stations etc.. Blanca also gave me an appointment with Dr. Cheng on 7/24 at 3:40pm. Thank you all very much! Our health is in THEIR HANDS!

I even gave them the benefit of the doubt after my own experience and scheduled my husband there, and they did the exact same thing to him. At this point, something feels seriously off. I've already contacted UCLA and will also be reaching out to Anthem and the Medical Board because I think this practice deserves a closer look. I don't know what's going on, but this is not how a professional medical office should operate. The staff also seem disorganized and often don't appear to know what's going on. This is not the standard I expect from a practice affiliated with UCLA, and it's honestly embarrassing that they're associated with the UCLA name. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I genuinely can't recommend this office.

Never even looked at or addressed most of them and when they finally called me after several people who showed up after me had gone and and gotten tests When I was finally called the person confirmed I was there for a "bug bite". I had previously need to Urgent Care and this exact ER after being advised by my Drs office due to a tick bite in June. After an appointment with my primary this morning I was sent with a written referral to the ER. 1) they never even looked at the drs notes. 2) the dr never asked about my symptoms 3) I explained my dr was concerned about meningitis's so they took a TON of blood and the. Did a spinal tap to test spinal fluid. After that procedure I was told I would need to stay flat on my back for two hours and would be discharged at 7:30. Then the room started filling up. Not just patients and staff but family and machines. As someone with neurological issues the amount of stimulation cases me to completely shut down. I was hyperventilating, sweaty and clammy, my head started pounding. I asked/begged to be moved someone where quiet (i was told the hospital was out of ear plugs) then when it was about time to be released they decided to do a brain MRI...my second one since June so I was a bit hesitant but was told it was necessary so I did it. The Dr who had been helping me had to go so she said another Dr would be by to discuss all the test results with me. He never showed. I had to ask four more times to leave and then my paperwork has a diagnosis of "headache"!'!! I didn't even come in with a headache nor was it a primary concern. I live with 5 migraines per week so I know a bad headache and I didn't even have one. The paperwork shows a complete lack of understanding as to why I was there and on top of that the ride and dismissive behavior and never getting the actual Fr to talk to me was mind blowing. I will never again trust this ER. HORRIBLE!!! As I left there were several other people in the halls screaming they just wanted to get out of that place. The "charge nurse" was by far the rudest with the most attitude and refused to listen to me and even though I asked for the Dr twice she didn't get one and made one minimal Change to my discharge paper. She showed a complete lack of empathy or understanding. I hope she finds a new profession soon. Cause she does not give a rats about patients.

I have been there numerous times to visit friends, neighbors, and a few family members. On the 20th of this month my son had a hernia surgery for the second time around at this hospital within 3 years apart. He has been here once before for the same procedure/surgery, but was seen by another doctor who had retired. My husband took him to the hospital around 8am and the check-in process was seamless, timeless, and effortless by the front desk. They took his vitals, signed some paperwork, and got to business. It was a laparoscopic surgery and anesthesia was required to give him 3 incisions to get where they needed to get into. The anesthesiologist did a flawless job and my son went to sleep within 60 seconds. They even played his favorite song by his favorite artist. Dr. Michael Robinson did a fantastic job by operating on him and my son speaks very highly of him, his work ethic, knowledge, professionalism, and kind demeanor. He was patient, pleasant, explained the pros & the cons and the rest is history. Nurses were constantly around my son making sure that he was doing well, taking good care of him by talking to him, and giving him solid food such as small sandwiches, chips, jello and vanilla pudding. In my opinion that is a lot of food for someone who had just had surgery. After the surgery, they took him to the recovery room and made sure that he was being supervised for 3 hours. They sent him home that same day, since it was an outpatient surgery with rules/instructions to follow, pain killers and wished him a safe & speedy recovery!! They have a cafeteria, vending machines, gift shop, plenty of parking spaces, lots of clean restrooms, including the surgery room. Hospital was SPOTLESS CLEAN!!! We would like to thank Dr. Michael Robinson, all the nurses, especially Suzanne & Minu for their caring, hospitable attitude, and last but not least St. Joseph Medical Hospital!! Thanks a BUNCH!

It doesn't matter if missing your prescription will cause serious medical issues they won't actually get up to help you and apparently the doctor doesn't read his messages until 3-5 days after 6-10 messages have been sent. This has happened the last 3 times I've gone to him consecutively and before that a few times as well. It's just a really frustrating experience. It leaves you feeling so crummy to be completely ignored by your doctor and depending on who you speak to at the front desk like a nuisance. It's really not ok to make a mistake and then ignore your patient for days on end - I wrote that and posted it on google reviews on Friday, it's now Monday at 5:10pm and the issue still has not been resolved. I spent part of my day waiting for calls back from the manager which never came and being told that I hadn't asked to speak to the manager but to the supervisor in charge of phone calls (I didn't know there was a "supervisor of phone calls") when I mentioned that I'd never received a call back from the manager who was on lunch. Gaslighting your patients, not ok. the supervisor of calls finally went down to speak to the doctor who told her that he'd Written the proper date although he absolutely had not. So instead of further communicating the situation to the doctor or the doctor taking a moment to look into the matter that was it. I then asked her to communicate the issue and fix the problem we were back to her telling me she would message the doctor because she wouldn't go to speak to him again. I asked to be transfered to the front desk multiple times. No answer. Was transferred to the nurses station, no answer. What is going on here? How is this possible. The rudeness by one of the receptionists is unacceptable and while Liz is pleasant its still just insane to me that this lack of any sort of effort on the behalf of the entire staff from doctors nurses and managers supervisors and receptionists is wrong.
