I accidentally found the Advanced Optometry as I was walking. I went in and tried on some glasses which I liked most of them. So I went back to purchase my new lenses for reading and distance. I loved working with Noah who actually just started to work there and it was his first day!! He was very knowledgeable, knew all the products and he was very courteous and friendly. Also, the doctor double checked my eye site to make sure the measurements are correct on the papers I brought. I really appreciated what he did for me. It show how much he cares about his clients! If you're looking for an eye doctor that knows exactly what to do go to this place Dr. Steinberger is a genius !On Christmas Eve I burned my eye by mistake with some cleaning material I couldn't see anything and I was panic. From the first phone call the front desk ladies was nice Over the phone when I told him about my situation they immediately found time for The doctor to see me. He took care of my burn and was kind enough to see me the following day on Christmas Day. Long story short he did a full exam on my eyes and when I got back for a check up he examined my vision and offered direction I didn't thought of with my vision options. He got me off my reading glasses and that blow my mind how come no one offered this option. My recommendation do not go to no one else when you need help with your vision !! read more

I had called earlier in the day asking if we could come in the afternoon to get glasses for my daughter-they said yes of course. When we got there were met with a dog at the door, no leash. That's great you love dogs, but not everyone is so receptive of animals. And it's a doctors office, why is a dog allowed? The optometrist then JUMPED up and ran to the receptionist telling her "Just tell people no! We can't see them!" -talking about us in front of us. I would have gladly waited if they needed us to. They then told us we needed an appointment, never was that mentioned. Actually they say "walk ins welcome." Every single person that worked there was beyond rude and angry. Wow! I left this group very frustrated. I sent in my Tom Fords I paid $550 for, and they did a great job on the lenses but damaged the frames, which pissed me off, but I let it slide. I just went in to do another with Jacques Marie mage glasses and expressed my concern about the last incident and asked them to please take better precautions with these glasses, but the doctor refused to take my business. They refused to do the business because I asked for accountability with these glasses. WoW! I guess the expectation is that the frames can and will get damaged and that there isn't any accountability for this. Interesting . . . . . Take it for what you will. Just the Facts. read more

From the moment you walk in here until the time you leave you are treated so well. They always welcome you so warmly, albeit with a temperature check these days... but that is another way to know that they are taking precautions and taking care of everyone, patients and staff included. Dean is always very thorough and friendly, with great chair side manner. Know that your eyes are in the right hands. The staff includes Stacy, Erica Eden and Alina, who are all amazing as well and help with everything, including giving objective advice on which frames make you look best. Their selection of lenses, frames and prices are great, too. This is by far the best experience I have had in regards to an eye exam and buying new glasses... The day after Christmas, i was playing tennis and the ball ricocheted off my racquet right into my eye. I panicked as the eye was bleeding and was in pain:( Called the office and Dr. Steinberger talked to me and recommended that i come in right away. I was so relieved and literally one hour after injury, i was at his chair. He took such good care of me and did the exam and patched me up and relieved that it wasn't a major injury. Referred me to an ophthalmologist in West hills and currently being taken care of there. Thanks Dr. Steinberger for seeing me on a Sunday after hours . I scheduled an appointment for an eye exam as my vision has suddenly become blurry from a bout of dry eyes. I was treated rudely by the insurance specialist at this office. My insurance company tried to explain to them that I am covered for the exam for which I was scheduled but they had checked in a system called eligibility.com which showed I had an HMO as a primary and not a PPO. This is untrue and my insurance company even tried to correct it with them but they refused to even check why the info in their system is incorrect. A grievance has been filed against this doctor an an investigation launched. I suggest you find another doctor who 1. treats patients with respect 2. has a competent medical insurance specialists who will follow up with the company they use to verify eligibility. Horrible experience and Dr Steinberger should be ashamed of himself. read more

I just moved to the Thousand Oaks area and needed more contacts for the holidays. I'm extremely disappointed in my experience at Advanced Optometry in Thousand Oaks. After receiving my faxed prescription, and it came time to process my payment for my contacts. The doctor refused to allow me to process the payment without the physical health equity credit card present. This was a first, and this was extremely inconvenient, as I had just moved to the area and my card was left behind in Washington. The doctor expressed to me how they had been "burned way too many fu- times" before by customers in the past, so he wasn't willing to help me with any samples. This showed a complete lack of empathy and understanding. I understood the man entirely about being burned and being taken advantage of as I'm a business owner and from Ukraine and i know well of people taking advantage of you. I asked if I could just get by for the week with samples until the card could be received in the mail and he refused to my surprise. He said cash or card only instead of understanding my situation. Advanced Optometry put their own interests ahead of their future client and denied me the sample contacts I needed, he even said there's many other optometry locations nearby. Who says that? It's a shame that a business in such a beautiful and upscale neighborhood would treat new customers so poorly. I have seen many eye doctors in the past, and I have never been denied sample contacts for any reason, to get by for the week. They have lost my future business and the future business of my family and friends, as I would never recommend them to anyone. It's a sad reality to see a business that puts profit ahead of people and fails to provide the good service and care that their customers deserve. I hope you consider in advance before coming to see them for yourself. It was clear they were more interested in making money than in helping me. Our DO we used to have in LA went into semi-retirement and we had to find a replacement. Enter Advanced Optometrics and Dr Dean Steinberger, who is a total pro. Wifey was diagnosed with cataracts and some type of retinopathy, and referred to ophthalmic surgery stat. She begged for prescription lenses but Dr Steinberger flat out told her that she wouldn't be comfortable with anything he would prescribe until the cataracts are gone. Makes a lot of sense! The exam fee was definitely commensurate with experience and the latest in equipment - no more "ouchy" eye drops, and instead brand new machinery, some of which was like looking at neon shows in Las Vegas - fun instead of pain. In short- I had a minor eye injury this past weekend. I was advised to go to my hospital system's ER but did not due to my concerns on safety and their capacity due to COVID. I was self admittedly completely panicked as I have never experienced an acute onset issue w my eyesight. I called Dr Steinberger's office (was not a patient even) and they had an emergency text service. He spoke at length to me on Sunday about my issue and was able to see me Monday morning. Fast forward today - and after getting seen right away by a retina specialist as well that he connected me to - my eye has recovered. Everything turn out fine but it was an unsettling 24 hour period and I am very grateful for Dr. Steinberger and his team's care! I only wish there was a 6 star option! read more

I was going in for a routine eye exam, and my doctor, Dr. Emily Schwartz, discovered a tear in my retina! She immediately got the amazing staff at Advanced to call Retina Partners to get me in at the last minute, for an emergency laser retinal procedure to repair the problem. Dr. Cao at R.P. waited for me to drive the 45 minutes past closing, to perform the procedure. If not for Dr. Schwartz' diligent cross checking and verifying the problem, I could have lost vision in my left eye. She is thorough and conscientious. Very confident in her abilities! I'm revising a prior review relating to an issue with lost glasses. Dr. Steinberger really made the extra effort to make things right. After reading my original review, he immediately called me, listened to my experience, and personally took things over to resolve the issue. He tracked down a new set of frames, had the lenses made, and delivered them to me along with my original frames (which were eventually found). He provided great communication about the progress along the way. While I'm still baffled at the behavior of the staff member who caused the issue, and would really rather have not spent so much time just to get my glasses back, I am satisfied that Dr. Steinberger did the right thing, and really cares about his patients. read more
