Accidentally came to this institute because my appointment was scheduled at this address and she helped us figure out exactly what is wrong and we got the appointment scheduled for the next business day. i had been a patient there previously seeing dr steve lee. but i moved away for a few years and recently returned. when i called to make a appt, they told me dr. lee was no longer there, but i made a appt anyway. when i got there, they seemed confused and unsure why i was there and had me make another appt with a different doctor. so i wasted two ( 2 ) hours driving and 1/4 tank of gas for nothing. when i returned, i met this " sour faced " dr. eckersh who spent less than five ( 5 ) minutes in the room then sent me off for a 2nd opinion for neck surgery and no meds !!! in my professional, medical opinion - do not go there. dr. lee went to liberty intervention in slidell or go to broc in baton rouge. i remain, james d. hodges nmtcb_rt retired read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Conn's and Advanced Pain Institute for a few years now, and although my recovery has been a marathon and not a sprint, Dr. Conn manages to keep my pain tolerable through consistent clinic visits, clear & organized patient/physician communication, minimally invasive procedures, as well as, any applicable new cutting edge procedures, greatly improving my overall quality of life keeping me comfortable and optimistic! Dr. Conn always motivates me to keep my spirits up, as chronic pain can be a multi-faceted challenge impacting patient's not only physically, but mentally as well! Even when circumstances or incidents arise that create setbacks and make my pain and life at times feel unbearable, Dr. Conn reels me back in and assures me that we will find an answer and appropriate treatment. I'm especially grateful to have such an empathetic, kind-hearted, well-educated, and 'solutions based' physician, as opposed to an 'opioid happy overprescribing non-solution based' physician on my medical team. I don't want to walk through the only life I get comprised on mood altering, habit forming, and/or dangerous narcotics that don't actually fix anything! Dr. Conn is an amazing physician and even better person of integrity, honesty, and compassion, I feel, due specifically to her nature of searching for answers and not just tossing another prescription at me. They let me suffer in agony with a pinched nerve because of an insurance Deductible. They refused to work out a reasonable payment plan. I know the doctors have to make their money but the reason they get in to their practice is to help people. Absolutely horrible experience read more

Beware medical insurance fraud (unecessary procedures that don't help, tests you never hear results from, etc.) They never get preapproval from insurance companies (either that or Paula just totally sucks at her job,) nor do they submit req'd information, which means that all of those plans you made for the date of your procedure need to be completely scrapped when they call you the day before and say they have to reschedule you for next month. If you're really lucky, after the extra month in pain, you may hear that your insurance company would have never paid for the procedure to begin with. Hope you don't mind wasting that $700 and all of your time and effort for nothing. I tried to discuss my concerns in a reasonable tone with my doctor, who not only wouldn't listen to me (a recurring theme throughout,) but totally lost his mind and discharged me. He seemed to consider this a punishment, but since he hasn't helped much, anyway (and I was tired of him using me for insurance fraud,) I was thrilled to leave. Never would I have guessed that his overblown ego was actually so fragile. He also needs to stop flirting with office staff while patients are waiting (and can hear him.) I'm now filing complaints with my insurance company and the state insurance commissioner. Fortunately I kept detailed records of everything. Any doctors who have a financial stake in their treatment centers are NOT going to look out for your best interest. You're just a walking wallet to them. read more

I have to agree with all the other negative reviews. My appointment was for 1:40, arrived on time only to find a receptionist who small talks (manipulates) every patient and comes off as manufactured. Two other patients came afterwards (to see the same doctor) and both were called before I was. The atmosphere feels very money-driven and fake. The people come and go like cattle and first priority is given to regulars, regardless if their time comes after yours. I was finally called (after nearly an hour) and found myself yet waiting in the doctor's office, while listening to laughter, small talk and endless chatter outside my door. Very unprofessional service. I walked out, asked for another appointment (in which the receptionist was subtlely rude and told me she'd give me a refund instead. THANK YOU for making it EASIER for me to go to a place that GENUINELY cares about their clientele without seeing dollar signs. The API in Hammond is just as horrible as the reviews report and even worse if you'd like to be treated like a human being, because an office cares and not like cattle. At least two people came in to get records to take them elsewhere. One time is enough for me and had I read these reviews I wouldn't have gone THIS time either. The doctor I was SUPPOSED to see was Dr. Flagg. BEWARE. You've been forewarned. read more

Nearly eight years ago my Primary care Physician of thirty years, Dr. Winkler, ask Dr. Lee of the Advanced Pain Institute to consult with me while hospitalized at North Oaks hospital. I am a, c4c5c6 cervical fusion, quadriplegic and I was involved in a life-altering accident that left me paralyzed from the neck down in 1985. In 1987, I returned home after eighteen months of physical rehabilitation. I suffer from all the usual things most paralyzed quadriplegics suffer, multiple bed sores, several fractures as a result of falling from my wheelchair, torn rotator cups in both shoulders, bladder, abdominal, and multiple surgeries to correct my worsening condition over the past thirty-five years. Despite attentive and competent care by a team of physicians over the years, I continued to be hospitalized on a yearly bases suffering from obvious and not so obvious ailments. Despit my many stays in hospital, teams of doctors were only treating my obvious systems and never diagnosing the cause. This continued on and off for twenty-five years, cycling in and out of the hospital for necessary surgical procedures became routine. Nearly eight years ago I was back in North Oaks for two weeks of test that included the insertion of a Super Pubic tube to drain my bladder and treatment of reoccurring bed sores that are debilitating for anyone who has ever had to live with them. But my most serious of medical issues remained an impediment to me returning home and living as normal a life as possible, and despite the help of many consulting physicians I went undiagnosed for many many years. I could tell you what was wrong with me but like many physicians over many years, my problem went undiagnosed. But at the request of Dr. Winkler, Dr. Lee of the Advanced Pain Institute stopped in to consult with me on one of my emergency stays in North Oaks. Instead of peering into my room, Dr. Lee thoroughly examined me and diagnosed the condition I was suffering from and that had went undiagnosed for nearly twenty-five years. Autonomic Dysreflexia - Hyperflexia Syndrome. Hard to pronounce and rarely seen, it's a rare disorder found mostly in people with high spinalcord injuries. As I understand Autonomic Dysreflexia/Hyperflexia Syndrome, its a disorder caused by a misfiring of the Anaflactic and Sympathetic Nervous System. It's triggered by many medical issues from bed sores to bladder problems, all of which I have and still suffer from after thirty-five years. Despite its many triggers, it cause cannot be cured only treated. It causes fluctuating extremes from very low to high blood pressure, extremely painful headaches, back and neck. Its continued presence in my life can be the cause of strokes and death. Since diagnosing and treating my Autonomic Dysreflexia/Hyperreflexia, I have only been hospitalized three times for bed sores and other ailments in eight years. The very smallest to the worse of my daily medical problems are contributing factor to my syndrome. If not for the proper diagnosis and a multitude of treatments overseen by Dr. Lee of the Advanced Pain Institute, my overall health at the age of fifty would certainly be worse. As a layperson suffer from Autonomic Dysreflexia/Hyperflexia syndrome, I would go as far in saying if not for Dr. Lee's diagnosis and treatment I may not be telling you my story. Dr Flagg is the worst pain management doctor we have ever seen. My husband complained to Flagg in Jan. 2018 of severe back pain, which was a new pain. Flagg did nothing. My husband complained of continuing back pain in Feb. He could hardly walk, and he was suffering so much. I had enough of Flagg. I took my husband to an orthopedic. He took 1 xray. There is plain sight were 2 compression fractures in my husband's spine. 2. Had Flagg ordered xrays in Jan. when my husband first complained, he would not have had to suffered until surgery in March. This man claims to be a pain specialist but yet when my husband had a new, rather different pain that was being treated, Flagg didn't do a thing to help. He didn't even document in Jan or Feb that he was having such pain. He only documented when my husband told him in March that he was having surgery to repair his spine when he saw him at the beginning of March. He is the sorriest excuse of a pain management doctor I have ever seen. I plan on going further with this complaint and lodging one with the medical examiners board. Totally unacceptable. read more

After six months of trying every therapy Dr Flagg recommended with no improvement and suffering with debilitating pain I finally listened to my surgeon and had surgery against Flaggs advice. He was furious and started documenting fraudulent things on my record that I refused to sign. He walked out on me so I followed him into the checkout area and as an RN advised him that he could be prosecuted for falsifying pt records at which point he discharged me in front of the whole office and waiting room advising that he would no longer treat an unruly pt. Which was fine bc I was in the middle of firing him anyway. Only problem since has been he ignores any and all requests for records from everyone. Ignored six requests from disability and has ignored repeated requests from other physicians. Beware his inflated ego..he thinks his impressive credentials make him a god that can treat us little people like crap. Good luck..pain management is a difficult field to find quality help in. read more
