They are "old school" and contemporary in their approach to any issues including structural damage, rotten wood, decaying piers and other challenges. They are well known in the Garden District, French Quarter, and throughout the city. The team was respectful and willing to explain any procedure used. I would not hesitate to use them again with complete confidence.

Dear Y'all, Today I am happy, but a little bit sad too…read more Today David and Dave Lauricella...AKA the Dynamic Duo...are putting the finishing touches to my house renovations. The sad bit is I won't be seeing them every day. They've just finished doing major repairs on my front porch, siding and ceilings. Until they started the repairs (caused by termite and water damage I didn't know I had), my porch had been held up by the hand of God. Then He handed it over to the Dynamic Duo to fix. It was almost a shame to put the siding back on over the studs and insulation because Lauricella and Son are seasoned craftsmen of the highest order. Oh, and my beautiful put-back-together-again, re-beautified front door! I could digress and go on about how delightful David and Dave are, or how they go out of their way to do what you want done, or how I gave them a key to my now beautiful front door when I was out of town, or how I never had to sweep up after them. A Plus Contracting by Penton is the type of local, small business that is special. We have used a…read morevariety of contractors over the years from friend referrals, online and phone listings, etc. and it is very hard to find quality, reliable, and honorable contractors. Fred is a gem who runs an excellent business the way business used to be done--focusing on the quality of the job and satisfying customers (instead of quick turnover and making a buck). Also, the folks who represent Fred are just as good (both the on-site worker--Brent, and the back office billing person--Ann). This was my recent experience with A Plus Contracting by Penton, and why Fred will be the first person we go to from now on for home improvement and contracting needs on the North Shore. We actually met Fred from an animal trapping call for an exotic pet that got loose (see Animal Roundup by Penton--highly recommend for those services too). We were extremely impressed with Fred's professionalism on the animal call, so when I noticed that he also did contracting work, I decided to give him a try. My mother's health took a dramatic turn for the worse, and on a Friday when it became clear all medical options were exhausted, we made the decision to bring her home that weekend for Mother's Day. Mom always wanted a red door on her house and was planning on doing that as part of a set of renovations. I wanted to surprise her with that when she was discharged home from the hospital. As you can imagine, it would not be easy to find a contractor on a weekend with less than 24 hrs notice. Fred responded immediately, came to look at the door, and said that he would have someone over there the next day. Brent came the next day and did a wonderful job--he was meticulous, efficient, and cleaned up everything after the door was done. Mom had her beautiful red door that she always wanted in time for her arrival. Later that week we had an emergency with termites getting in through a light fixture--I contacted Fred one evening and the next morning Brent came over and sealed the fixture. In both cases, I'm sure there were bigger jobs that Fred and his folks could have done and they had to move things around to make these two jobs happen. It was the care, respect, and feeling that they were there with you in what was a really rough time that I will always be grateful for--and a big part of why I'll be a long-term customer. In addition, Ann was communicating with me regularly and even offered suggestions and help searching for other information in the local area--truly above and beyond (and very sympathetic to what was a difficult time). You just don't find many businesses like that anymore. And, the little things matter--including a nice handwritten card (thank you and condolence cards). Overall, I highly recommend their services. The quality of work, professionalism, integrity, communication, and responsiveness are all top notch.
