I have been a patient for over 10 years. I saw Dr Malik before she started referring me over to isha. I would zoom her about every 6 weeks then 8 then a couple months for med refills. I ran out of Klonopin on a Tuesday a medication they filled for me for 10 years. I didn't receive a notification that it was ready by Friday so I called my pharmacy. They said the Dr hadn't approved it yet. I called the office at 3 as soon as I found out it wasn't being approved. I tried leaving a voicemail for Isha but someone from the office just picked up. I explained what was happening and she told me they won't fill prescriptions if I haven't been seen for over 3 months. I told her I didn't know that. She said it would be in the paperwork. Ugh that was 10 years ago I don't remember. I told her I was having extreme panic attacks due to the sudden stop of the medication. She told me there was nothing they could do. She wouldn't even offer to try to contact Isha. I made an appointment which wouldn't be for 5 more days so I decided to see if I could get a hold of Dr Malik. Same thing as with previous phone call. I hadn't slept for 3 days because I have restless legs and that is what the medication is prescribed for me for. So another sleepless night and get up Saturday crying shaking head feeling like it could explode, ringing in my ears, shaking, jumpy. I look up Dr Google and it says to never stop Klonopin abruptly that it causes all the symptoms I was having as well as strokes and seizures. I called the office again at 11:00 am and talked to an emergency line that told me they were going to try to get a hold of a Dr. It is 2:00 in the morning now. I never got a call and I will be awake again. They DO NOT Care! I could literally die. I have never abused medication. I get my 30 day supply and refill it after 30 days but since I've been taking it for 20+ years so my body is used to it. I have not felt cared for by them for years but it was easy to do a zoom visit and be done. I never expected anything like this to happen. Starting off as a new patient was informed to fill out and sign documents that were being sent to me. I completed all documents that were sent to me.The day of my appointment I didn't receive the link for my virtual visit so I called the office and spoke to the receptionist who told me my appointment was cancelled due to a form not being completed and that a call and voicemail was left on my phone this morning which I received no phone call or voicemail and informed them of this and was told ow well the appointment is cancelled. In October 2002 I was diagnosed with  severe depression. I'd been to three different doctors and have had prescribed a myriad of anti-depressants and different cocktails.  Some sort of worked for a little while, a couple made things much worse. My first appointment with Doctor Malik was in September of 2022.  Since that day my life has completely restarted. For twenty years I was just getting by; I barely existed. Now I have my life back.   Doctor Malik and her staff are very rare gems indeed. Sylvia and Karen are wonderful to work with and have always gone out of their way to help me with my scheduling, insurance and any other questions I may have had. Amber, Bianca and Doug have been there with me during the TMS treatments and Ketamine infusions. They were there with answers to my many questions and erased all my apprehensions.  In fact, my experience with all of the support staff has been wonderful. read more

I was never impressed with Advanced Psychiatry of Elgin. That's why I stopped going there. Dr. Malik was patronizing, which unfortunately is true of a lot of psychiatrists. I also didn't care for their bookkeeping practices. They charged $100 if you missed an appointment even if you were sick and couldn't cancel 48 hours in advance because you didn't know you were going to be sick. They seemed more interested in collecting the $100 than they were in anything else. There was one evening that I went to see Dr. Malik and she kept me waiting for over an hour because she was in a deposition. I tried explaining to the office manager, Althea, that I couldn't come back because I didn't drive and had to schedule a ride with a service. Althea seemed put out that I was being "uncooperative". Finally Dr. Malik saw me for just a couple of minutes, hardly worth the wait. In September of 2022, I considered going back to them, forgetting how truly bad they are. They emailed me 17 pages of paperwork, a lot of it asking intrusive questions I didn't feel were necessary. The forms were generic and the system wouldn't let me submit them as I didn't fill them out to the satisfaction of the generic form. I finally had to talk to Veronica Wells who sat with me on the phone for over an hour going over the forms line by line. It was then she explained the forms were generic and that's why I had to answer each and every question or they wouldn't let me submit them. I found someone else and I canceled my appointment, making sure the person at the front desk canceled the appointment as I didn't want them charging my credit card $100. They insisted I give them a credit card number. Then today, I get an email from them, addressed to me at my married name, which apparently was the name they had when I first registered with them back in 2017. I haven't been a client of Advanced Psychiatry for over 2 years and I haven't gone by my married name for over 5 years. The email provided a link with a reminder that I needed to fill out paperwork. This clearly shows how disorganized they are - if they still show me as a client and also under my married name. Very poor service. I have to wait to Monday and then call them and tell them to remove me from their system. On Monday, I called Advanced Psychiatry of Elgin and found out they had in fact sent me an email with a link to update paperwork. I told her to also make sure my current last name was also removed. She asked me if I wanted to update my name in their system. "Why would I do that? I haven't been your client for 3 years." This doesn't bode well for efficiency, does it? They are more interested in getting your money than in providing a valuable service. They have sent me 6 more emails asking me to update my information so they. can customize my care even though I never kept my appointment with the doctor I was considering seeing back in September. I have called a total of 6 times, finally talking to the practice manager who was unbelievably arrogant, telling me there was nothing they could do to control what the "system" sent out. She arrogantly asked me if I was sure I had no plans to come back there even though I had told 5 other people that I was no longer a client there. Patronizing and arrogant - all they care about his the money they make off the patients through insurance, copays and cancellation fees of $100 per appointment. Stay away!!! read more

They are very professional, empathetic, highly responsive and have gone to great lengths to help me fine a protocol for depression and anxiety, and as a result, inadvertently helped me tremendously with pain management. read more

I've been coming here for 3 months now as apart of a clinical trial they're conducting. I have to say, their service has been top notch. The tests have been fast and mostly error-free, and their psychiatrists have been kind and warm during each of my visits. Would recommend this site if you're considering participating in a trial. read more

I love this Psychiatry practice and have been going here for over a year. Dr. Malick is a great person and a wonderful psychiatrist. You will feel that she thoughtfully cares for you. She patiently figures out what medications can help you if need be, and even how to stop needing them at all eventually, depending on your situation. Dr. Malick has all the tools for better mental health you could ever need. She recommended for me a licensed clinical social worker at their practice, Ana Estrada, who was AWESOME and completely helped me leave my abusive relationship along with Dr. Malick. Do you ever feel like you're trying your best to be a good person around your loved-ones, but you neglect yourself in that process? You can tell Ana anything, she really makes you feel normal while you're healing, and doesn't let you ignore blatant wrongs in your life; that is truly a gift. They also offer a service here called TMS; this is for resistant cases of depression and anxiety, they'd definitely explain it better at advanced psychiatry. It takes a while but I personally had great results from it, and the technician is always super sweet and knowledgeable!! They offer you a whole team that wants to help. The best part is, I didn't feel like they were trying to make me a permanent patient or client. They actually want to help you and then set you free once you're ready, because they are honest and good at their jobs! read more

Dr. Angela Astleford is the least patient worst nurse practitioner I have ever worked with. before coming here I had all my medications in order; she changed my brands of medications without asking which caused some major problems. She doesn't actually work with patients, she hung up on me and discharged me because I was upset about the meds. She left me high and dry of my medications and as a minor it's very hard to find someone to treat me. Thanks for throwing me in a downward spiral and being super petty about it. Worst experience ever and now I don't know where to go or who wi fill my medications I desperately need filled. This could lead to a wrongful death lawsuit, pretty serious stuff and they dont care about me or their patients at all. read more

These people have No bedside manner. It's all about how fast they can get you in and out. I wouldn't reccomend.

Dr. Malik is the best. She has empathy, she listens and make suggestions and gives lots of encouraging advise. She's very patient and understanding. The entire staff is professional and makes me feel welcomed and very comfortable. The office is nicely decorated and extremely clean, even with all the salt being used this winter. I live 50 miles away from her Elgin office, and I see her weekly....that speaks for itself, right? read more

I have been a patient at this practice for almost a year. The staff is very carring and friendly. Dr. Malik has truly been a lifesaver as well as Claudia. I honestly don't know where I would be today if it wasn't for them. I now feel armed and ready to conquer my mental health. I feel better equipped with coping techniques to manage my mental health. I would highly reccomend this place. It has been a night and day difference and I am in such a better place now than I was not all that long ago. read more

If this is the same Advanced Psychiatry as in Bloomingdale I would stay away. They have young trainees that ask you all kinds of probing questions that it feels uncomfortable when you arrive. The doctor doesn't seem to have any motivation. Dr Alan Hirsch read more
