My husband went here and we were impressed by the doctor. He resolved an issue with a simple solution for which we were searching for ages.

I used to get my tracheostomy tubes from Medigas, and at one point, they were a fantastic company…read more Sadly, this is no longer the case: their person who was in charge of tracheostomy patients transferred to a different department, and repeated calls to get my trachs transferred to a new company went unanswered. I was told we have to throw out the trachs after each use, as they are plastic, and cleaning them can cause harmful chemicals to leech - it took two months to get an answer from Medigas for me to go to another company. I ended up with a horrible infection in my trach site, and as a result of taking a lot of time off, was let go from my job. When the rep from the new company finally got ahold of someone at Medigas to get my trach prescription transferred, they were told that I never had a prescription for trachs on file (which is funny, because they were able to bill the AADL for my trachs) and that they had given me all of my trachs. So I say to any tracheostomy patients - use another company and avoid the headache that this company gave me.

Less than a 1! Last night my Res Med totally died. I called Medigas this morning and was told…read morethere was nothing they could do, wouldn't even look at it. Ok, so I need a new machine. Now here's the kicker...they need a prescription from my doctor for me to buy a new machine. Hmmm makes me wonder. Let's think about this a minute, my doctor sent me to them with a prescription, I did the trial run, bought a machine, it doesn't work, they can't fix it and its no longer under warranty, so I need a new one, but before they can give me a new one I need a prescription...let's think about this for a minute...circle jerk!

CRASH. THUDD. "OW!" That's what I woke up to the other morning. And an unfortunate roommate who had…read morefallen directly on her tail bone coming down the stairs last week. A few hours later, the pain hadn't lessened and found her unable to sit up. Poor roomie! "Should we get you one of those donut cushions?" I joked. "Yes! I think I'm going to need one," she replied in a much more serious tone. How do I even know about donut cushions? My mom had one when I was a kid. I even used that thing as a sit upon for camp. While we contemplated where we could find one for her, I remembered this medical supply store down in Bridgeland that I've passed many times before on my walk into downtown. The wheelchairs in the window made it stuck out as the "old people's store" in my head. They had to have a donut cushion! And they did. Healthcare & Rehab Specialties is run by Karen and Murray. Murray was the one helping me out with the donut cushion. "How big is your friend's behind?" Murray asked quite seriously. I've never measured. "Normal?" Came my reply. How do you give an approximation of the size of your roommate's ass? "You know what? If it would fit me, it would also fit her," was my final answer. No need to call a friend! As he rung up our purchase (it shows up as the "invalid cushion" on the receipt), Murray informed me that they were not so much a store just for the old and the not-so-mobile, they also carried massage supplies, exercise balls, dyna-bands and a variety of other healthcare supplies. Who would've thunk?? If it hadn't been for a bruised tailbone, I would've continued on thinking that Healthcare & Rehab Supplies would be a stopover for my more elder contacts. First impression officially blown out the window! Friendly, helpful and small town in the big city. Thanks for your help Murray! The donut cushion is totally helping the roommate :).

They didn't have them in stock but assured me that they would order one in for the day before my daughters surgery. I go in to pick it up and there is no shoe. They can't find it and they have no idea what happened. I'm now scrambling to find a different store with it because I trusted this store to have it in.
