FRANK the "'manager" from south Florida was a jerk from the…read morestart over the phone. I made it quite clear what I was interested in and how much I was prepared to pay (without any up charges). after waiting all day at home, the technician tried to upsell me, which I politely declined. he then said that the job would cost approximately $100 more than originally quoted over the phone due to the "material of the carpet"- mind you, it is a standard 8x12 carpet and I could just buy a new one from Amazon for the amount they wanted me to spend. I apologized for wasting the technicians time but was unwilling to pay almost $200 for a basic carpet cleaning when you can rent a steam vac from Home Depot for $40. he called his "boss" who said he told me over the phone initially it was a "free estimate" for someone to come down. never was that explained and I had also made sure to ask about the total cost in advance so that there were no surprises. it was not the technicians fault but it was a big waste of all of our time. additionally, the guy was subcontracted did not even come in a Stanley steamer truck. this seems shady and unsettling. will never call or recommend Stanley steamer again. As a woman, I feel like if this were my husband dealing with them this would have never happened. VERY dissatisfied and disappointing
