I have been seeing Dr. Rettner for about 6 monthds, now. Typically every two weeks for chiropractic, and some weight loss. To start with, he did a very in-depth assessment and noticed things that I was unaware of. I have been to many excellent chiropractors over the years, and who have helped me immensely. Dr. Rettner's assessment was more extensive and methodical than any before. We also discussed weight loss, and I began my own practice of diet change while seeing him for regular chiropractic care. I am deeply skeptical of energy work, and I appreciate that it does bring focus to emotional health. During my weight loss regimen I suffered a deep personal tragedy, and Dr. Rettner was instrumental in helping me reduce the distress around that. I was able to stick to my diet and wound up shedding 35lbs over 3 months while still really enjoying good food. Now after 6 months, none of the little pains that I have had in the past are bothering me. No knee pain, very little neck pain, no back pain, etc. He is not your usual medical professional. He is his own character, has strong opinions, and abundance of ideas. He really does care about your wellness and success. Overpriced for the services offered and it didn't help with weight loss or anything else, save your money and just go to the gym or follow a weight loss program that isn't 1500+ for supplements and keeping a food diary, all things I could do myself. And when I didn't follow things he made me feel guilty about "not being able to even follow a simple diet" Plus he charged for missing an appointment when I was having scheduling conflicts at work because of the pandemic, tried to get a refund but he was not willing to help out at all even when I pleaded about financial distress due to covid. read more

After I left this review he had the nerve to email me to apologize for being late (a client was late to a previous appointment- is that why his belts was undone???!?) and to issue threats of law suit if I failed to remove my review. He then called me over and over until I blocked him. Every time he was trying to convince me I had to remove this review or he would file suit, that the review was libelous. One of his excuses for not providing additional services to me was that one of the machines has a counter indication for any orthopedic pins or screws. I looked that up to better understand the issue. According to the manufacturer the only counter indication for use is dementia. He may have that, I do NOT. read more

I've been struggling for over four years with an injured right psoas muscle that I injured while playing softball. I've tried stretching and massages. I met Dr. Raphael, at a wedding fair and he immediately after talking to me analyzed me very quickly and accurately. I had been going to 2 different chiropractors for 5 months plus. I was frustrated and really needed some relief. I spoke to him on the phone again after the first meet and was confident that he could help me. My symptoms were back spasms in the middle of my back and any time I felt better and would do some normal daily activity the pain would return. Dr. Raphael when I came to his office was very knowledgeable and confident that he could help me. I filled out a questionnaire and he began working on my chakras and energy work. I was (and still am) a skeptic when it comes to chiropractic care. If you read the history of chiropractic (check it out on Wikipedia) I think you will see why. For example, the founder claimed to cure hearing loss by spinal adjustment. It is/was an attempt at a merger of science and metaphysics. Generally, today its practitioners are not subject to the stringent requirements of State Medical Review Boards for oversight. Rather, they have their own completely separate governing agency. In my experience, at best, chiropractic is pseudomedicine. At worst, it is charlatanism. That being said I think it has its place in healthcare when practiced by skilled practitioners who realize it is neither a cure-all nor a reliable non-intrusive medical diagnostic tool for internal disease. It has been my experience that the best practitioners are those who are expert masseurs or masseuses, physical therapists, have a comprehensive knowledge of the skeletal system and have significant experience manipulating the muscles, ligaments, tendons and skeleton to relieve impingement and related skeletal-musculature matters without the need for surgery or pain killers. That is a practiced skill.. Whether it is medicine is open to debate. I went to Dr, Raphael because, when I met him at a networking event, he said he could help my left shoulder. My orthopedist had examined it, x-rayed it, prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and six months of physical therapy. While it had improved over those six months the therapy was painful and the pain had not gone away entirely. According to my orthopedist the next traditional medical approach was to inject steroids into the shoulder and, if after two times that didn't work, possibly surgery. That seemed like overkill so I thought if Dr, Raphael says he can help why not let him try? So I made an appointment. His offices are understated. The folding chairs and tables in the waiting room made me hesitate. I was unsure what to expect and the easily packable furniture made me wonder whether Dr. Raphael was a fly by night. However, I persevered and was ultimately greeted by Dr. Raphael and personally escorted to an examining room. We talked, even before he examined me, about my goals in seeing him and what he could do, believed was possible and how he intended to achieve it. He adjusted my shoulder, examined my skeleton and range of motion and then explained how they could be improved. Since my shoulder pain had first arisen when I awoke 6 months ago - there was no trauma that caused it - Dr, Raphael was blunt and advised it could come back because it is a result of how we are affected while we are asleep - but he could ameliorate it for now - and he did. Dr. Raphael Rettner is the best. I recently had a fall of my bike and managed to hit my elbow and left hip pretty hard. I've been having pain in my neck for the last week or so and I was just going to wait it out until a friend of mind talked to me about how I had to go get it checked. Boy am I happy that I did, during my session Dr. Rettner asked me about all the injuries I've had in my life. They include a car accident (over 10 years old), multiple bike crashes, and more. I came to see Dr. Rettner back in January after a car accident that I was in. I had severe whip lash and major back and neck pain. Left feeling 110%! Great experience!! I went in for a general consultation and adjustment because I have been feeling a bit "stiff". Upon arriving I was very impressed with the relaxing atmosphere. Wow, terrible place! I saw it and thought I might go in for a consultation- then was told a consult would cost me $125; then they would decide which "program " was recommended-- no doubt hundreds of dollars. The "dr" sounded strange when I spoke with him on the phone. I decided to cancel my appointment, so I left a message canceling (with several days notice). The "dr" had the gall to call me on my cell saying "please don't call here again ". Haha, trust me you don't need to worry about that. So I guess I will be the bad one here but its funny how some of these reviews are. I came to Dr. Rettner office to try the Advanced Weight Loss that was offer in the Groupon. I will admit yes his office was clean and smoothing/relaxing. However, he did an assessment about my health and what would be wrong with me. I just thought it was a joke when he told me to push his arm away with my leg or arm and one side he would push in but on the other side he wouldn't. I called him out on it at the spot and he will just say do you want me to assess you or not. I will respond yes but in a honest way not fake. The reason why I am saying this because on the section that I know for a fact that I am injured he will say that I had this strength jajaja but where I am not injured he would say it was weak and needs help.....jajaja Now when you use his four lipo-light pro sessions just be prepared to do it on your own and once you are done you will need to whip them down and clean after yourself and this means any machines that you have used. Most places will ask you to leave it there and their staff will clean it up for the next person. So keep in mind if the other person really does not clean the Lipo-light you might be using a dirty lipo-light with someone else's sweat on it. I did not finished up my sessions because the last session I went to just made me sick to my stomach and I was so disgusted that I walked out and nobody noticed because there was nobody there to help me get started and the doctor was inside with another victim. read more

I recently saw Dr. Raphael Rettner at his clinic in Lafayette. The office was lovely and provided a calming, comfortable environment for healing work. I asked for help regarding anxiety about a particular class in my graduate program. Dr. Rettner used a combination of muscle testing, energy work, physical adjustments, Bach flower remedies, and spiritual readings to both discern what was going on with me, and to shift the problem. Gratitude, that is the first word that comes to mind for this amazing Doctor. I was referred to Dr. Rettner by a friend who spoke highly of his care. I was in need of help on my back, neck and shoulder pain due to a serious car accident. Physical Therapy did not do much, for me, to alleviate my pain. As we are all aware, it is hard to seek out and find a Doctor whom you can trust and know will have you best interest for healing at heart. I have been seeing Dr. Rettner for about 3 months, and the pain in my back, neck and shoulder have subsided significantly. His expertise in not only chiropractic care, but with energy healing and muscle testing as well, have had a huge impact on my healing process. I sleep much better, and have resumed some pre-accident normal activity with almost no pain. While my journey for healing is still ongoing, I find true comfort in knowing I have found a Doctor who has genuine concern for his patients overall well being and health. I've been seeing Dr. Rettner since I was a child and I still see him from time to time (most of my initial problems are gone now, so I don't have to come in as much as I once did). I used to see him at his old office before he moved to Lafayette and recently I took a tour of his new place. He's got some impressive weight-loss machines that aid in the detox process. I used one of the "vibrational exercise machines" (vibrates on a cellular level) for a little while but it was a bit too intense for me (my friend, however, didn't have any problems with it so I guess everyone's different). I also sat in his LED Light Chair for about 20 minutes and after I was done, I had about 200% more energy. One thing that you should know about Dr. Rettner is that he is a doctor of chiropractic. He works holistically, so don't be confused into thinking that he's a traditional Western medical doctor but instead he works with the whole body. The advantage of that is that he thinks outside the box. If you've ever baffled traditional doctors with your symptoms then he is a great choice, who will find an "alternative" solution. Also, he spends at least a half hour with you per session, whereas the typical M.D. will only spend about 7 minutes with you. He first gives you a physical adjustment, and then uses other remedies such as Bach Flower Essences, Affirmations, and also looks at your diet and nutritional deficiencies. Most Western Dr.'s ignore the emotions and the diet of their patients. I think that some people might try to criticize him as unscientific or unprofessional. However, it just really depends on if you want regular, pill-based Western medicine or if you want a whole-body wellness-based approach. It's really a matter of personal preference, but I have found his work to be more effective, more compassionate, and more intuitive. Plus, I don't have to take pills for the rest of my life - a definite plus! So again, if you're ready to take charge of your health, I would recommend a visit any time soon. read more
