I had a local acquaintance 3D print an adapter part for me that was mission critical for the…read moreapplication. It clearly was sort of prototype level with some distortion from the expected results. So I had to find an alternative. Luckily, Jinxbot happens to be within waking distance of home (if you like long walks!) and they had great choices as far as printer types. Their website did a great job of explaining the different technologies and their menu system was very clear on what % fill was possible (for example) on one technology vs another. I chose my printer, selected my options, and then previewed the pricing. There is a $20 startup fee, which for a single small print is more than the cost of the part. But when you think about the effort to evaluate the project and file, set up the printer, etc, I do think it's fair. If you have a $9 cost for a single part, it's not reasonable to expect that a custom vendor should just get $9 for the part and all the setup labor. What the startup cost did lead me to do was print more copies than I immediately needed to get a lower per part cost. This is fine, as I may need more in the future, and even if I don't, the part is generally needed enough that other people without local 3D printing resources can benefit by my selling off the extras. I did have one small issue (initially produced qty didn't match order qty), but they realized it at the same time I saw it, and it gave me the opportunity to inspect the part, make sure it looked good and as needed, before they printed the balance. So it all worked out and they were extremely responsive and communicative. The end product looks professionally made - I wouldn't have guessed 3D printing was capable of producing something so polished and crisp. So extremely pleased with the result, process, and customer service. I'd highly recommend using Jinxbot for your 3D printing needs, and there are a lot of publicly accessible files downloadable for a wide variety of needs. So great to take advantage of that and do things locally for cheaper than buying inflated cost versions on eBay.

The umbrella needed to be replaced, but none of the new ones would fit in the sleeve. I designed an adapter which would fit over my existing tube and would add an adjacent sleeve for the new umbrella. Pawl fabricated it for me. His work was perfect, with great attention to detail and with great care for the aesthetics. It's a beautiful job, and he's a pleasure to work with.
