Worst experience ever - STAY AWAY
Zero stars would be my preference but it isn't a choice. The rental experience itself was terrible. Despite there being only a couple of customers (no more than one per agent), it took us over an hour to get out of there, and this doesn't count the drive over. The agent started off somewhat pleasant, but quickly got irritated with us when we didn't want the aggressive upsells she was pushing. She was so incredibly slow. I looked around and essentially every customer was having some type of problem at the counter. Not sure about what, but it was clear they were having some issue. I should have just walked away at that point. This, however, was the best part of the experience. Upon return of the car, the check-in person noticed a tiny scratch on the bottom of the passenger door. It was very tiny, and upon pointing it out, I was able to rub most of it off with my finger. I was concerned by the fact that the man seemed giddy to have found some type of damage, and he barely spoke English. He spoke excitedly in Spanish to another employee, and I have no idea what they were talking about. They then made us wait for about a half an hour for a "manager" to come out. At this point, we are starting to run out of time to get back to the airport as the shuttle takes probably another 20 minutes to get you there, and won't leave until it's full. So finally a woman comes over and says we must sign a form stating we damaged the car or we can't leave. Again, this scratch is TINY. Hertz or Enterprise would not even bat an eye at something like this. And there were far worse scratches on other parts of the car that thankfully I did note when we checked out or I am sure I would have been blamed for that too. So, we were forced to sign the form in order to leave. Isn't that extortion? Anyway, we get back home, hoping that someone with an ounce of integrity will see that it could be buffed out in about 2 minutes when they cleaned it, but it was not to be. We eventually got a bill for $491, half of which was out of service charges. The adjuster we dealt with sent us a picture of the alleged damage at our request, and there is nothing even in the photo, except a pink circle around the area where the damage was to have been. Seriously, there is nothing there. And there is no way the car could have been out of service long enough for us to incur $200 worth of charges. I rented the car for an entire week for $235!!!! And that included tax! Upon discussion with the adjuster, it was revealed that they do not work for Advantage but just collect for them and keep half of the money they collect. Bottom line, stay away from this place. They are crooks and they obviously incent their employees to find ways to defraud any poor unsuspecting soul who might have the misfortune to rent from them. I think they must understand that the customer service is so horrible that no one would ever actually return to them for future business, so they extort you for every penny they can get while they have your credit card number. Oh, and they also charged us for $25 in tolls. We paid every single toll in cash ourselves the entire trip, but that little gift was tucked into our credit card bill the following month, and there is nothing you can do about it.
I went with this company because they were about $100 cheaper than the onsite rental places. It ended up costing me over $800 for a crappy car and what was probably the worst consumer experience of my life, hands down. I hope that the time it took me to write this review will spare another from this misfortune. You would be better off paying double the rental fee from a reputable company than renting here. If they don't get enough money on the front end, they'll get you on the backside of the deal. read more
