We visited Adventure Aquarium on a Monday after heavy rain, and getting there was stressful because several roads were flooded. We had prepaid tickets and spent quite a while on hold trying to find an open route before finally making it. The aquarium is very clean and has a great variety of animals, but it was surprisingly crowded for a Monday. We had to wait just to see many of the exhibits, and admission is a bit pricey. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would come back, but be prepared for big crowds and check road conditions if there's heavy rain. read more

Spent some time in Philly and got a CityPass to many attractions, which included the Adventure Aquarium just across the river. Definitely worth it! Parking is easy - $10 for the whole day (and the waterfront is really lovely to walk along, and only a short walk from there to the USS New Jersey battleship). Lines move along quickly to get us in and they took our CityPass and got us our wristbands. Positives: -Lots of different things to experience. Some spaces are a little more kid-oriented, including a pirate search as walking through different mini exhibits. -There is a cool area where you can talk to scuba divers as they work in the big tank. -The rope walk over the shark tank. It's so secure you never feel any danger of falling in, but it is cool to walk over open tank. Child #3 loved this. -The shark tunnel where you are underwater and able to see all the animals swimming around you. -Plenty of bathrooms in each area, all with a clean changing station. -IMAX level movie theater with movies every hour. -Lots of interactive displays. Negatives: -The whole aquarium feels a little fragmented, like spokes on a wheel, which required a lot of backtracking if we wanted to go see a different section of the aquarium. -There are two touch tank areas, including a very large room which can easily fit over 100 people but only one sink to wash up after handling rays and other marine life. We finally made it to the Adventure Aquarium. We visited on a weekday morning and as expected during that time, crowds were minimal. After going through a bag check area, your tickets are scanned. There are bathrooms and a locker area in case you want to store items...this is helpful, particularly during the colder months when you are carrying around heavy coats. You head upstairs where there are a few food areas selling the the typical snacks you'd expect, popcorn, pretzels, drinks...there was also a "grill" area but it didn't seem to be open on our late morning weekday visit. The aquarium itself is lovely with some great exhibits throughout. Wide variety of fish as expected but also some other unexpected sea creatures such as a variety of eels and jellyfish and a giant pacific octopus. The large central tank that contains various sharks, stingrays, sea turtles and other sea animals was great...and viewable from multiple sides. There are touch tanks containing smaller stingrays, smaller sharks and some reefs. There is also the "Shark Bridge" which is a cool concept. The Hippo tank is massive and offers some great up close views of them. Overall, I would expect to stay 2-3 hours, depending on how many exhibits you want to read and see. A quicker view-only walkthrough can be done in about an hour. Admission prices are about $34-$42 for adults and $29-$36 for children depending on the day...weekends are more expensive than on weekdays. I think that is a bit high for what you get...prices of about $25-$30 may be more appropriate. Be sure to check for discounts...we saved about 15% by getting tickets through AAA. Parking was $10 but there was a $5 credit when paying using the kiosk inside the aquarium. All staff encountered were great...except the parking lot attendant, who wasn't. read more

Had an amazing time at the aquarium. It was honestly my first time there since a school trip in elementary school ages ago. Was lovely to see how much it's grown and what things were still the same like being able to touch the stingrays. I really enjoyed the virtual learning experience. I had such a great time visiting Adventure Aquarium! There is $10 parking across the street, and it's a quick walk to the entrance. There's also $8 lockers right inside if you need to store something for the day (like a giant winter coat!) Some of the tanks felt very small for some of the animals, but others were massive! So I guess it varies. The mermaid experience was meh. There was an underwater mermaid swimming in a shark tank. I've seen pictures of mermaids at aquariums, and the giant oxygen pump she was using really ruined the illusion compared to other experiences I've seen pictures and videos of. You could also go see a mermaid near one of the touch tanks, but she was just sitting on a rock waving. I'm sure it's exciting for very young kids, but maybe not for 8+. I loved walking on the shark bridge, which was a wobbly netted plank over the shark tank. I knew I was safe but it was still scary in the best way possible! The aquarium was nice, but it was rather expensive for the tickets and the whole experience. There's a military/veteran ticket discount for $2 off. To be fair, we came a little late, around 2ish, and we had a 1-year-old with us, so we didn't get to see the whole place since they close at 4ish. The parking lot was also $10 for the day and when we left near closing, it was quite a lot of traffic heading out since you pay when you leave. There were two petting zones which were fun, one with sharks and one with rays. The hippos also were pretty cool and very active. They also had a lot of Christmas decor in their tanks like a big Christmas tree in one of the big tanks. There were also divers dressed as Santa and an elf with whom you could take pictures. We also grabbed some items from the food court. Plenty of seating, but the coffee was terrible. Weird, considering it is La Colombe, but maybe they left it sitting too long. The chicken tenders and fries were good. It's a small charge to upgrade to an annual pass, so I would say it's great if you visit often and have small children. While on a family trip to Philly, we decided to take a short detour to Camden, NJ, and visit the Adventure Aquarium as a special treat for our daughter before she heads back to school. We're so glad we did! We had such an amazing time. First Tip: Buy your tickets online ahead of time. It's definitely cheaper than purchasing them at the door, which can be a bit pricier. Second Tip: We also found plenty of parking right outside the aquarium. Yes, there's a fee to park, but the lot is huge and well-organized, so you won't struggle to find a spot, even on a busy day. We arrived around 11:15 AM and even though it was packed with families, school trips, and summer camps, the space is so big and well laid out that it never felt overwhelming or claustrophobic. We were able to move at our own pace and take in every floor, every exhibit, and every layout. One of the highlights for us was being able to feed and pet some of the animals. Such a fun and interactive experience, especially for our daughter. While we didn't sit in on the tortoise show they were offering that day, we still had full access to everything else. The aquarium also has food and snack options on-site if you need a break or a quick bite. The exhibits were engaging, beautifully maintained, and offered something for everyone. From stunning, underwater tunnels to up close encounters with sea life. Our daughter had a wonderful time, and it made for such a memorable family outing. I would give negative stars if I could. I purchased tickets in early July. We had a DEATH in the family 4 days before our planned trip. We couldn't go. They will not refund my tickets. In fact I have never heard back from them at all. My credit card company says adventure aquarium also tried to work it out with me to pick another date, which is completely false. Took the family out to Adventure Aquarium on a weekend. It was very busy, with lots of other families exploring the aquarium. Parking is easy, there is a paid parking lot across the street. The aquarium is divided into zones, and most of it can be seen in two to three hours. My favorite exhibit was the hippos. Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ is one of the top 10 aquariums in the US! I wish I could give a 3.5 star rating. If the price was a lot lower, I would be happier giving 4 stars. I visited on a Saturday with a plus one and we enjoyed ourselves. It's definitely geared towards younger children, but you can still learn a lot and have fun as an adult. After all, don't we all have an inner child? This is my most important tip. If you're visiting on a weekend, COME AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. Weekends are filled with families, strollers, and tons of kids. Nothing against them, just giving y'all a heads up. If you can come right at opening time, that's perfect. It's the quiet before the storm. It's a lot less crowded, so you'll be able to get a good view of the animals. It starts to get very packed towards the late morning/early afternoon. PARKING: There's a lot right across the aquarium. It's $10 to park. TICKETS: Tickets are very overpriced and cost anywhere between $30.99-$49.99. They're limited by timed entry reservations on a first-come, first-served basis. Pricing depends entirely on the date of your visit and how early you buy. The earlier you buy, the cheaper. Depending on demand, the prices will either remain the same or increase. They take factors like day of the week, holidays, weather, and projected attendance into consideration. If you wait to buy them at the box office, prices could be higher or you may need to wait for the next available entry time. Or worse, they could be sold out. We messed up and bought ours a day before. It was ~$105 for two adults ($47 per ticket, $6 tax, $4 fee). Seniors save $2 and children (12 and under) save 15% off. To offset high prices, they offer military discounts, a free pre-K pass for toddlers, and free admission on your birthday. They also have an annual membership, which might be worth it if you plan on visiting multiple times a year. ATTRACTIONS: We were able to see everything we wanted in about 2-2.5 hours. The aquarium is easy to navigate - they have 5 zones of animals and attractions. The most notable ones are: *Hippo Tank & Feeding - A MUST SEE!!! They are huge, chunky, and adorable!!! *Shark Tunnel - This is a 40-ft tunnel (longest in NJ) that surrounds you with dozens of sharks. *Stingray Touch Pool - You can feed them for $5. *Penguin Island & Feeding - The cutest flightless birds!!! They have a large variety of other marine animals and ocean life. The animals look healthy and the tanks are clean. Every exhibit is labeled with tons of fun facts. It's a great educational experience if you take the time to immerse yourself in it. They have other attractions and activities like trivia games, 3D movie showings, a shark bridge, virtual reality, interactive play areas, up-close encounters with animals, etc. Some are included in admission and some come at an additional cost. I recommend looking at the aquarium's schedule for the day because some of the attractions (like the feedings and shows) are at specific times... and you don't want to miss them! FOOD/DINING/SHOPPING: The food scene is not too impressive. There's a main dining area that serves hot dogs, pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, etc. There's also a coffee shop, a beer garden, and a sweet treats cafe. We didn't eat anything here, so I can't speak on the food. They have a large gift shop near the exit. SERVICE: All of the employees we encountered were helpful, friendly, and enthusiastic. They seemed happy to work there and to take care of the animals. I'm glad the animals are in good hands. Was it worth the $105? Hmmmm, maybe for a one-time visit. I'd be more willing to pay that much if the aquarium was much larger and included more attractions/experiences/vouchers with admission. We already pay a steep price, and they still try to upsell us with more things. The food is expensive, the gift shop is expensive... you have to pay to get your photos taken... you have to pay for the more interactive animal encounters. Way too much $$$$. Great place! We came from baltimore for my son's birthday and we had a great time. The pirana exhibit when you first walk in is quite awesome as the center recreates the amazon down to the storms with rainfall at timed intervals! We loved their large scale pool that had multiple viewing areas filled with sharks, sea turtles and fish. The petting area was large and well kept with several pools so that people could touch the tiny sharks and sting rays. Very cool. There were even penguins! The cafe area was great also with a large menu to fit most tastes, a candy and sweet bar, a coffee bar, and popcorn/ pretzel stand. There was even a spot to have a caricature done. The exhibits are well kept. The people are very friendly and will answer any questions that you have. The food court is good. I see people cleaning and wiping down tables all the time. Price is not cheap, but the food is very yummy. Typical expectations for any establishment like this. The gift shop is well stocked. Again price is typical. I wish I live closer to the aquarium. My kids and I visited on the Saturday following Christmas. Glad we had tickets because when we arrived at 9:30, a sign said next available tickets were not until 11:30. We don't have a DC aquarium and Baltimore is nice but far so this was a special treat especially with all the unique feedings and elaborate exhibits. First, the shark rope walk was closed so that was disappointing. But we did the shark tunnel, had front row spits for the blue penguin and hippo feedings and saw the "meet the diver" show. I was really impressed with the size of the tanks and the variety of species represented. We also loved the shark touch pool and the stingray touch pool. We are in the cafeteria and it was fine-surprisingly not as pricey as I'd expect. We spent a significant amount in the gift shop and got a really nice tote as a bonus item. Unfortunately, the lettering on a sweatshirt I got came off in either the was or dryer so disappointed because that's never happened to me before. Parking was easy across the street-$10 for the day. Arriving around 9:30, we left around 3:30 and saw everything that was open. Tickets are not cheap but not having a local aquarium, this was a treat and worth it. Loved coming to this place! This was our first time coming after getting the gold pass due to us wanting to come more often because of our daughter. I didn't know that you had to reserve so when I showed up to the ticket booth the staff member explained it to me and was super nice about it. Thankfully we came 2 hours prior to closing so we were able to get in without a reservation. Getting the gold membership is way better and actually more affordable than buying the tickets per day. We also got $5 off ticket. The main reason why I wanted to come was due to the Animal Crossing event they are holding which is a dream come true to a gamer like me that has been a huge fan of the franchise since forever. They also had the kiosk so you can get 100 points and other perks for the Nintendo shop. My daughter loved seeing the bigger fish. We have a tank at home and we sit in front of it for a couple minutes and she loves to watch them swim. So the aquarium was a win for us. She loved watching the jellyfish, the rays and the sea turtles. I also love how child friendly this place is and they have changing areas and lactation station. Which is amazing! The good, adventure aquarium is a pretty iconic aquarium growing up in NJ, I came here as a life and now I'm taking my kid here. Ticket prices vary but you get the best price if you buy a few weeks in advance. You can also get a membership online which I have so you can come see many times at you like for one price and if you come 2x a year it's probably with the membership. Walking around the aquarium the place was clean the exhibits that where open were good. My son really liked seeing the fish and the poison dart frogs. Personally I though my the sea horses were cool. They also have a shark tunnel that you can walk through, it was cool but the first time we walked through very crowded. The staff we interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. We spent about 5 hours there on time visit but also because we had a toddler. The bad: first thing I going annoying was that there was a few things that were closed, the African penguins only come out above 40 degrees, the bridge across the shark tank was closed and some other theater was closed as well. They go pricing based on how far out you buy tickets they should have what's open on the website as well. They had a feeding schedule up and the African penguins were on there even though the exhibit was closed. It's small but annoying. The second big anyone things was the sheer amount of strollers. There are signs up saying no strollers I've a certain size and no wagons. However once inside there were a ton of both. It made it very hard to navigate and people are very inconsiderate with their strollers. The shark tunnel I talked about was a nightmare. One of the biggest issues I noticed was there was a girl in a power chair trying to get through and she couldn't, 100% a for hazard. They need to enforce their stroller rule. Outside of that it was a good trip for us. If you have little kids they will probably enjoy themselves. The food isn't terrible either 13 for chicken finger and fries is pretty standard as a price comparison. Worth a family trip maybe call to see if they have anything closed. read more

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Adventure Aquarium for a work event last week, and it was hands-down the most spectacular work event I've ever attended. From start to finish, the experience was flawless, and it's clear the staff went above and beyond to make it memorable. Just walking up to the entrance was breathtaking. The view of the water and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge was stunning, especially on a crisp and clear December day in New Jersey. The atmosphere set the perfect tone for what was to come. Once we arrived, we were greeted with name tags, which isn't the norm for aquarium visits but was perfect for our event's scavenger hunt later on. Speaking of the scavenger hunt--it was such a creative and engaging way to keep adults entertained! We didn't dive into it right away, though, as the event kicked off with an amazing catered meal in a room unlike anything I've ever experienced. Imagine dining surrounded by sharks and vibrant sea creatures gracefully swimming by--it was mesmerizing. As someone who adores sea life, I was completely in my element and could barely contain my excitement. The catering was fantastic, offering a little bit of everything. There was a taco station, a pasta station, a Chinese food station, and even a chef's station where you could get custom-made dishes (I think it was pasta, but I was so thrilled I didn't focus too much!). I sampled a bit of everything, and it was all delicious. The event also featured a photo booth station set up right in front of the shark tank, which was such a fun touch. After our meal, we started the scavenger hunt, and it was an absolute blast! The entire aquarium was spotless, and the staff was not only friendly but incredibly knowledgeable. The team working with the stingrays was especially fantastic--I left with a newfound love for these gentle creatures! Another highlight was the Shark Bridge Walk, which added a thrilling element to the day. I took so many photos and can't wait to share them. Whether you're with family, friends, or coworkers, I highly recommend incorporating something interactive like a scavenger hunt--it's a fun way to learn about sea animals while enjoying the adventure. With taxes and fees, tickets are about $45/person which may be worth it if the entire facility is open but it's definitely not when 1/3 of the exhibits are closed. Navigation is really difficult and not intuitive. We thought we missed whole sections, but when we back tracked we realized a lot of them are just closed for a remodel. The ticket prices really should be discounted if that's the case. Maybe it's more fun for school aged kids, as adults it was pretty underwhelming for the price. Took my kids here recently. First, this place is crazy is expensive which is why I haven't taken them up until now. For a family of 4 it would cost around $160 for a day pass. I don't think it is worth it at this price. This year, my kids were both eligible for the free preschool pass which is actually a good deal. However, the price of my husband and I coming along would add up fast so I got us both gold memberships which is the mid tier membership. This membership also comes with half priced parking and discounted food. We didn't eat here on our visit, I imagine it's expensive. But, my husband and I got iced coffees while we were here which were pretty good. Now onto the aquarium, it is not huge but it is pretty cool. We loved the penguins and got to see them get fed. My kids also enjoyed the "shark walk" and the outdoor play area. I'm sure we will be visiting more this year. read more

My boyfriend took me here, I was visiting from New York and it actually is so beautiful. Compared to our Coney Island aquarium, this exhibit seemed genuinely and thoughtfully curated. My favorites were the sea turtles, the jellyfish swimming with plastic bags to show what turtles see in the water, The lion fish, the two absolutely adorable hippos, and the corals. There were so many sharks to see in the exhibit, and the tanks were huge. I genuinely had a great time and felt like the exhibit was just big enough for a date, we were there for about one and a half to two hours. My only recommendation is to go during the week because it was packed with lots of kids Saturday, and if you are childless like me, that can sometimes be annoying. I went on Wednesday at 12:30pm, it was nice that i had free ticket for healthcare provider, its the week of the year, they also provide free ticket on bday, the website says they also give discount on ticket for guest of healthcare provider, when i got there, the employee did not know about it and even their supervisor did not know what's listed on their website i found the page and showed it to him, he said i have to purchase the ticket on website they cant give discount on the site.. but i saw it , even with the discount , fee and taxes are adding up to the non discount price for senior , it was different by some cent.. so i ended up paying for my guest /family member on site,, 38.99 ($35.99+tax) Place is not as big and it only took hour and half to go around everywhere.. parking is flat $10 Good thing we had one ticket free otherwise i doubt it's worthy of close to $100 for two people read more

Overall, this aquarium was just okay in my eyes. Considering my only other aquarium experience is the aquarium in Baltimore, this one did not compare. The shark exhibit was very cool, which had a shark tunnel you could walk through. Other than that, I would not spend the $45ish per adult to go there again. I just felt like there was not a lot of fish to see compared to Baltimore. I will say the one nice thing is that it is very kid-friendly. There was a lot of play areas for kids to run around in! To reduce traffic, the aquarium requires you to book tickets in a certain time slot but the problem is, there's no time limit once you're there. Quite honestly, it was super packed and there were so many strollers. I do appreciate kids connecting with nature and doing something instead of being cooped up at in the winter. As an adult with just me and my husband, it only took us one hour to get through the entire aquarium. We did pause and read the fact sheets. By no means were we rushing. The coolest thing we experienced were the hippopotamuses they have, and I never realized how big they get. In fact, I think they get bigger in the wild. The shark tunnel seems to always be busy, but if you just pause and track a sharks movement with your eyes, it's really memorable. They have a new addition where there is a bridge made out of rope/net. It is over sharks swimming in a shallow pond type pool and it was really cool. I feel like they should weigh everyone before... So let's just start with the Mermaids... they're magical. "Montana", our mermaid, was just amazing. She was interacting with all the kids, flipping, making hearts, just really selling it. She alone was worth the trip. I'll say I've been to this aquarium several times before- once to visit and a few times for corporate and wedding events. This was the first time I was impressed. If you're going to go, the mermaids were a lot of fun, and the line keeps moving, so you get your turn up front with them. Everyone had a great time. I will also say that the line to buy photos took forever. There was only one person actually working there (technically two, but the other one clearly had no training, because the first one kept stopping to go do his stuff too). They were also upgrading memberships and stuff there that was really holding up the line. We loved the print (great colors), but it was really hard to wait 15 minutes at the end of the day (with only one person in front of us) while the littles were going into nap time meltdowns. For my daughter's birthday we made a day trip to the aquarium to celebrate! Since it was a weekday there wasn't that many people so we were happy to enjoy this experience at our own pace. We entered with no line and were front and center to touch the sharks, get close up with the stingrays, and chat with our penguin friends. There was also an underwater show which was really entertaining. Watching the staff underwater with sharks swimming by them was an interesting experience. We had so many photos of our great time as well as the photos we purchased from the day. We had such a great time and will check it out again in a few years and compare our experience. read more

All in all, this is a great time for a date night, a family day trip or a perfect time for single parents and only children to have a memorable experience! Ridiculous wait at the counter. Not sure if they are new, but the 2 women were VERY slow and not seemingly interested in excellent customer service. The cost is so so. There's quite a bit to enjoy, especially the light touching of some of the animals. I'm skeeved-out by that sort of thing, but my son, the future surgeon, was enamored. My son is 10 years old, and for some reason, I thought he was over this type of experience. I couldn't have been more wrong. He LOVED the entire experience. He especially enjoyed the hippopotamus exhibit and walking over a large live shark tank! Big I loved the moments I could enjoy having a seat, since I wore boots that said: I'm here vs. I'm comfortable. Wear comfortable shoes or sneakers there's a lot of walking, hence a lot to see. Pros: PHOTO OPS: Plenty of places, specifically designed for photo opportunities. I thought this was wonderful. You may dining have to wait your turn. CLEANLINESS: From the moment you enter, there's someone with a broom. The bathrooms are outstanding. The stalls aren't too tiny, and the CLEANLINESS is top notch. The ladies cleaning the women's bathroom were gracious, especially the one with the reddish hair. DISABILITY: The hallways are wide enough for wheelchairs if needed. There are seats throughout the entire place There are elevators on each level (I believe there are 3). The stairs are not for the fair if heart, though not terrible if you're in reasonable health. GIFT SHOP The gift shop has something for every budget, especially the sale items. FOOD: The food is surprisingly tasty. I had a hot dog, and my kid had a pizza. There are chicken wraps, coffee, and ice cream, too. CON: Customer Service: The person Danny at the help desk was absolutely NO HELP AT ALL. He had no idea where the penguins were since the outside exhibit was empty. He had no idea about the feeding schedule of the animals and couldn't care less to help us find out. This was disappointing bc we only had 2 hours to enjoy the entire aquarium. PARKING: $10 gated parking, across the street from the aquarium. Here's where the headache is. Leaving this place was a bit of a chaotic nightmare. These 2 ladies suddenly closed one exit and the only place left seemed disabled so things were slowed down tremendously bc we had to wait on 1 person to take our money or card, retrieve our receipt and then go lift up the gate etc... It took about 30 min to get out of the parking lot. read more
