I had 6 teeth pulled yesterday. Done in less than an hour. He gave me very clear instructions on what to do before and after surgery and a laminated page of instructions to make sure I would remember. Dr. Harvey is kind, funny and makes sure that you are comfortable. He personally called me after to check on me and answer any questions I may have. He has always been sedated for his regular dental work at our dentist's office in Lawrence, and does well there. We love our regular dentist, but he cannot remove impacted wisdom teeth, so we needed an oral surgeon. We went to 2 oral surgeons in Lawrence for consultations. Both told us to go to the hospital for the sedation and extractions. It seemed to me like they were more afraid of the word "autism" than anything. A friend recommended Oral Surgery of KS and Dr. Ferrell specifically. WOW. What a nice guy ~ professional and compassionate. He was amazing with my son. We were able to do the consultation with the doctor answering my son's questions on his level, then meet alone with the doctor. The actual oral surgery was done immediately following the consultation. So, there were no hours or days of anxiety between the consultation and the surgery. We went to the Topeka office. The office staff was friendly. The place was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell and this office. I wish we had found him first.

Not only did the medicine not kick in yet because I had taken it upon arrival but I also have anxiety with dental work so I was really reliant on that medication to help me be somewhat unconscious. As I was not ready yet because the medicine had not hit yet, I was told that it was taking too long and that the procedure was not going to happen. You could tell the dentist was just tired of waiting and was trying to rush the process because he had other patients coming in. Do not recommend, especially if you don't favor spending money on a sedation method to ease your anxiety just to be given little to no time for it to actually work.

I always ask for the Nitrous Oxide to help with my anxiety, he also has message chairs to help with relaxation. His staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. You don't ever have to wait in the waiting room for more than a couple of minutes. He has a nice facility and updated equipment and technology. He has completely redone my mouth, fixing old fillings and cavities that have accumulated from my fear of going to the dentist. But two days before the appt, I got a call that "the provider was no longer available on that day and time" and I was removed from the schedule. When I called to reschedule, I was given a one week delay and told they only had one dentist available. Period. No other accommodation. Period.
