Dr Vincent is no longer at this office. I believe he has retired…read more Dr practicing here seems disorganized, had difficulty communicating with staff, and gives shots as if stabbing a steak! Hurt like hell and it shouldn't have. I had same shots in same area last week from different dr and had only a little discomfort. What's up with this " in a hurry" approach?

I should mention that I am a person that actually enjoys going to the dentist and I have no anxiety about it. Dr. Vincent and the rest of the staff were very professional and polite people. My wisdom teeth were pretty easy to access and I opted for local anesthesia + nitrous oxide instead of general anesthesia. The hygienist (I believe) who explained how the nitrous worked and what the procedure would be like was very helpful. The surgery went smoothly and was over in about an hour. I think he did a good job because I would consider my pain minimal and the healing process went very smoothly. They also let me take home my teeth after they were removed, and I was really happy about that! My only complaint is that they didn't give me as much information about the after-effects of having your teeth out as I would have liked. I didn't think to ask what was going to happen with my stitches and was concerned when one popped out one morning! (Google told me that was normal, so I didn't worry.) Also, they didn't really explain what I should be doing with the prescription mouthwash I had to get. Hopefully I'll never have to go back! But if I need to, I'd be happy to return to Dr. Vincent, but I know I'll need to ask more questions and not rely on the staff to volunteer a lot of information.

I went in to get a molar removed after a terrible experience with another dentist. The consultation…read morewent great, they moved the schedule to get me in faster and told me that they were going to give me pain meds to last until the surgery and a Valium for an hour before the operation. The dentist also told me two times in the consultation that after the surgery they would give me strong pain meds regardless. They gave me tramadol for the week, even with my tooth rotted and the nerves exposed. I think to myself whatever, maybe it's normal to give a minor pain med for major pain before surgery. The day before the surgery, my fiancé called and asked if we get the Valium from them, because they didn't send a prescription, and the lady acted confused and like we were trying to swindle them for a single Valium, when they didn't give me a prescription at all. So, I go in for my surgery today with no Valium, which they seemed very confused about (again, I can't stress enough how they just forgot to give me the prescription and said "oh well"). I'm mortified of surgery and my anxiety was through the roof so I was already irritated and terrified. The operation went fine and dandy and the doctor told my fiancé that we would be leaving with a prescription, which would be the 3rd time this was said. When I came to the lobby we were ushered out by an older woman. I told this woman three times before we left that I was supposed to get a prescription for medicine. She said no every time and to call back if it gets really bad (really? I just had a molar pulled). So of course, it gets bad, and my fiancé calls. The lady who answered the phone said that we should have left with a prescription for Norcos. She placed her on hold and got back on the line saying that she was sending tramadol to the pharmacy for pick up. I'm still in extreme pain, and there's nothing that they will do. At the end of the day, they'll do a damn good job of pulling the tooth, but they will absolutely give you the shaft if you're getting Anastasia, both before and after. If you're a masochist then this is the place for you. If you're like me and loathe tooth pain, do yourself a favor and go somewhere where they actually care if you're in pain or not.

We cannot believe Dr Shelby is licensed to practice. Exudes much more confidence than skill level…read more Dr Shelby completely missed a bacterial infection that resulted in a failed donor gum grafting. Dr Shelby opted for a low grade antibiotic, ZPack , double dosed, to treat an abscess infection. Within less than 24 hours after visiting with Dr Shelby, I was rushing my husband to the ER as he could not hold his head up. He was extremely sick. The ER doctor could not believe that Dr Shelby did not choose a broad spectrum antibiotic to treat my husbands infection. 6 hours later, administration of high powered aiV antibiotics and a CT scan indicated that there was an acute infection. Luckily, the bacterial infection dI'd not yet enter the bloodstream or brain. We then had to have follow up Dr visits with our primary physician, ENT and a new Peridontist to evaluate the damage from the failed procedure. Please do not let Dr Shelby's confidence fool you. He's inexperienced. Dr Shelby's charisma carries him far, until you end up with a. failed procedure, additional medical expenses and a young dentist denying that he has any responsibility for my husbands condition. We called and spoke with Dr Shelby regarding the ER visit, accrued additional medical expenses and my husbands health and safety. Dr Shelby stated that he would call us back and obtain the ER records. it's been approximately 3 weeks and Dr Shelby NEVER returned a call. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Please do not visit this practice as the next patient may not be as fortunate to recover as my husband finally did. We are now going to see Southwinds for his re- grafting of the area that was abscessed, infected and not properly treated by Dr Shelby. if you value your health, stay clear of Lawrence Peridontics and Dr Shelby. Please consider Southwinds, where there is a team of experienced Peridontists that have a plethora of experience. They ensure that a team effort of knowledge and experience is applicable to every patients treatment. Please also pass this unfortunate incident to friends and family as everyone deserves a Dr that actually has procedural recovery experience, empathy and proper patient etiquette when procedures do not manifest as planned. STAY CLEAR OF ThIS PRACTICE....

To date, I have had 1 cavity filled and had a crown put on a cracked tooth. I was terrified when I walked into the office not knowing what to expect. I had asked several people what I was in for and got everything from the bulging eyes and vigorous nodding when I asked, "Does it hurt?" to "I nearly passed out from the pain!" None of these folks had been to see Dr. Van Blaricum. Well, I almost didn't go. But, I knew I had to and Dr. Van Blaricum had my crown on in no time and it never hurt at all. I had brought a book to read and had hardly read any of it when it was time to put the crown on and after that it was a breeze. However, since they were already in my mouth, I asked them to take a look and see if my stitches (completely different issue) were able to be removed. A little communication goes a long way, and warning someone of ANY charges, especially when I was already concerned about how much the emergency was going to cost, is the right thing to do.
