I stayed here for 6 days while fighting the the Jenkins creek fire. Leah (staff) was very rude, and unaccommodating. During my 6 day stay, no fresh towels, no new sheets no service at all walls are very thin and could here the person in the next room snoring all night. . Definitely will seek other arrangements if we are to return. There are better accommodations down the road where the rest of the crew was housed. read more

After a disappointing first try at a different hotel (no heat, no bathroom, hard beds with light blankets), we landed at Adventure Inn. What an amazing difference! It was toasty warm, had two very nice beds with down comforters, heated floors, and a lovely little bathroom. Warning! Walls are paper thin. They incise you with the hot tub in the room. They don't offer any lotions/ soaps. Very generic. The Towels are old and rough. The comforter stunk. Very dirty. Take the time, spend more money somewhere else. read more

Wonderful establishment. My siblings and I traveled from Indiana and Florida to visit Camp Widjiwagan and chose to stay at the Adventure Inn. The room was spacious, offered four queen sized beds, key code entry, had earth friendly shampoo and hand soap, recycling bins, coffee pot with coffee, a mini refrigerator, microwave, television, and pillows to die for. I'm not kidding. I took off the pillow case and protective cover just to take a photo of the tag so I could order them once I arrived back home! The room was clean, front desk staff very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Plus, the Inn is conveniently located within walking distance to almost everything in the small town. We only stayed three nights but it was three very peaceful nights and we will most certainly be back!! read more

If you're looking for a gorgeous little inn with a family feel (because, literally, a family owns it and will make you feel like you're one of them), this is the place you want to stay. I can't say enough about my experience! I lucked out and chose this place somewhat randomly (ok, based upon some research and its high Yelp reviews) as an out of town guest. I liked the location - right on the main street through town, and within walking distance to many great restaurants). There is also a grocery store right across the street, if you need to stock up on supplies and stay awhile. The room prices are great, especially for what you get and for the location. If you want to be right in the heart of downtown but not go broke renting a room, this is a perfect option. The rooms are decorated very "Northwoods chic" with warm earth tone colors, exposed wood log beds and furniture. My room was adorable and the bathroom was incredibly spacious. Everything was immaculately clean. My night's sleep was peaceful and very quiet - beds are very comfortable, with plenty of pillows. Free WiFi is available in all of the rooms. They do serve complimentary coffee and pastries in the morning, and the front desk staff is so helpful and kind. They are pet friendly, and they are super eco-friendly too which are big positives in my book! If I'm in Ely again, you better believe that I'll be staying at the Adventure Inn! read more

The only thing I would want to change is to have a little more of a breakfast. We stayed here for one night last year before we went dogsledding with White Wilderness (check them out also, PHENOMENAL!) so there wasn't much to fill up on before we went for our all-day winter excursion, but that aside... The front desk gal was as sweet as they come. We got stuck in a winter storm on the way up there, and she called to make sure we were alright. We did make it alright, the room and bathroom were very clean, it was an extremely quiet and cozy place. The tile in the bathroom was gorgeous, nice to have soap dispensers, we slept peacefully in a big comfortable bed. We would stay here again! read more

My 3 friends and I shared 1 room together, and we didn't even have to share beds. There's an extra large room available that has 4 individual beds and nightstands, 2 sinks, and 1 bathroom (with a toilet and shower). It was super clean and comfy. There's free Wi-Fi, too (which was great for me since I had no cell reception and couldn't use my data without incurring roaming fees)! The innkeepers were incredibly knowledgeable about the area and friendly. My friends and I misplaced one of their hangers (it was a nice one made of wood, not a flimsy plastic one) -- it's a long story. We told the innkeeper that we would pay for it, but they were barely fazed and told us not to worry about it. On the morning that we checked out, we grabbed a cup of tea from the lobby (they have an excellent tea selection) and said goodbye to the innkeeper. Oh, and if you wake up at sunrise, you can have a perfect view of the sun rising if you stand across the street from the inn. It's one of those things that I still remember very fondly from that morning. This place is so cozy, and I'd definitely stay here again. read more

Our family of four stayed here in March. We picked this high-rated Inn and we are glad we did. We picked it because it was reasonably priced and dog-friendly. We found the room very clean and super roomy! We each had a queen size bed. Room came with free wifi (with no password needed) flat screen tv with cable, sm kitchen table with 2 chairs, microwave and mini fridge. Coffee and tea can be found in the mornings in the lobby along with muffins, donuts and turnovers. Bring a hair dryer, because they don't have one in the room. The owner is super nice and makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. We will be staying there again when we go back to Ely. read more

Clean, comfortable, warm and eco-friendly but the doors can be a bit noisy On our recent visit to Ely, my partner and I were walk-ins after a local friend of his recommended this place. Fortunately, there were rooms available and we were reserved in a King size room for 2 nights. Our room was very spacious, and open with ample room for all of our things and then some. It was also incredibly clean, and in like-new condition (we understand it was recently renovated). Another thing we really appreciated was how eco-friendly the inn was. There was very efficient hot water floor heating in our room and the hotel welcome binder shares more information such as the 10" thick insulated walls and organic cotton sheets. I also thought the soap dispensers were a thoughtful way to reduce waste. The only cons that occurred to us that the walls did carry noise, although like most things, this can be greatly dependent on who is residing in the adjacent room. Our first night was unfortunate as our neighbors (a large-ish family) were going in and out of their room, letting the door slam shut which in turn rattled our door (they're in metal door frames). We didn't get much sleep. By the second night they had checked-out and we slept wonderfully on the comfortable mattress and down comforter. The breakfast snacks in the morning were as good as others have said, especially the scones. My only complaint was with the flat-screen TV in that the volume (possibly linked with the cable box remote?) was absurdly loud even when dialed down to 0. Our play was very pleasant, the owners very hospitable, and we would have no problem staying here again or recommending this place to others, although we may make our own doorjamb next time with a towel or washcloth. read more

I stayed at the Adventure Inn the night before a trip in the BWCA. This was my first time staying at a hotel during the COVID 19 pandemic. I was very impressed! They called the day of check-in to let me know they were doing contact-less check-in and check-out. Our room was all ready to go when we got there with the key in the door. The room was very clean, and everyone on site wore masks. The chairs outside the room were great for us to enjoy dinner and ice cream from across the street. To go in the office you had to have a mask on, and the lady at the desk was so pleasant. I would highly recommend this place - we felt very safe! I'll be staying here on my next trip back to Ely. read more

How can they continue to use the phrase "eco-friendly " when all of the recycling bins have been removed, the bathroom soap is cheap dollar store crap, and the rooms stink of toxic cleaning products? What a gem! Night before heading out to the wilderness, greeted by a lovely lady in the office with a quick check in. We had the "big room" with 4 beds (#23), no kitchen. Our family of five (plus our dog) loves the room. Lots of space to spread out, triple check our packs, and get a great night of rest. We had a small fridge but the bedding & cleanliness were divine. The grounds were beautiful with every imaginable blooming thing! Checking out was just as lovely with coffee and baked goodies! If you find yourself in town, this is a great place to stay! Stayed here for two nights over Memorial Day weekend 2012. I don't think a two-star rating for this place is warranted at all. Our two-room suite was very clean, new, and reasonably spacious. The kitchen had a full sized fridge with dishes and silverware and a coffee maker. Other amenities are simple but adequate- you don't come to Ely to stay in your room, anyway! The proprietress was very friendly and knowledgable. Free wi-fi with a password and free coffee and pastries in the morning at the front desk. Our largish dogs were welcome but we had to pay a $10 fee and put sheets over the duvets to protect them. read more

we stayed in the new (i think it just opened late 2011) Solar Inn building as our jumping-off point for the BWCA - and were really happy with our choice. Rates were reasonable - among the cheapest that I saw in Ely - and the rooms were really thoughtfully designed and decorated. things like locally made furniture in the rooms, really soft organic cotton sheets, and i'm not sure but i think that was a feathertop mattress. felt really luxurious for a budget motel. And, it's solar powered! and they have a really huge rain cistern to water the grounds. huge props for that. would recommend to anyone, and stay there again in a heartbeat. also, the scones in the morning were way better than anything i've had at a continental breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay at the Adventure Inn. The owners and staff were great! I had forgot my slippers and didn't make it 3 miles before Sue called me. The coffee is off the hook Great. The tv in our room was a bit small, but it's a flat screen. The wifi was pretty slow, but I got on line. They do not accept AMEX cards. All in all I would highly recommend this place. We stayed just the one night at Adventure Inn in a King Jacuzzi room. The room was clean, the jacuzzi was heavenly and Mark who checked us in was very friendly and helpful! Even walked us right to our room :) no pointing for directions on how to get there. The bed was comfy! The shower was hot and had good pressure. The parking lot was a little tight for bigger trucks, but we managed to find a space just fine. Would definitely recommend! read more

Been listening to two different dogs bark through out our stay, starting at 6:00 am. Glad it's dog friendly ....but this is ridiculous. Walls super thin, can hear neighbors up and down and all around. The place it's self is ok. Beds comfortable. This place is fantastic. They are earth friendly in that they use organic cleaning products, recycle, use solar power, and capture rain water. The place is completely remodeled and super comfy. I am traveling here for work and staying only one night. It seems the town caters to campers and BWCA explorers, so the motels aren't all that nice here. This one caters to the same people, but it's very nice and clean. I stayed on the main floor by the office and had a king bed with jacuzzi tub. The room had a microwave and mini fridge. They served coffee and local pastries in the morning. The Inn is located on the north end of town accross from Red Cabin Custard. That alone is worth it. It is a walk to town but only half a mile or so. I would definately stay here again. read more

My dad brother and I have come up to the BWCA the last two years for a week of camping. We stayed at the Adventure Inn coming out last year and liked it enough that we stayed again this year going in and coming out. The place is clean, the staff (husband and wife) is friendly, and the rates are reasonable. Our room was clean each time we checked in and they are spacious too. One plus is they had fresh local coffee and scones out each morning. Criticisms include blinds that didn't work properly and a loose lamp which made it hard to operate. Overall, the place was a good choice for weary campers to lay their heads and take a hot shower. I would recommend the Adventure Inn to anyone passing through Ely. read more

Needed a hotel for one night on a motorcycle trip around Northern MN and did some research on Yelp and other sites. The reviews were all very good for Adventure Inn and they were all right! The people working there are very nice, accommodating people. The room was clean, spacious, well appointed and the beds! People were raving about how comfortable the beds were in their reviews. I thought "how good can the beds be in an inexpensive hotel?" Well let me tell you, they were the most comfortable beds and bedding I have ever slept in and I travel and stay at VERY nice hotels all over the world. I actually stripped the bed so I could determine what kind of mattress it was. And the bedding was 400 thread count, organic cotton from Target of all places, according to Mark one of the owners. Sounds crazy but the beds are worth the stay alone. Throw in free wifi, free coffee and pastries in the morning, convenient location and delightful hosts and you don't need to look any farther than the Adventure Inn for a great place to stay in the Ely area. read more

They were very kind, friendly, and welcoming. The rooms were newly done and very cute. Ours was decorated in an up-north cabin style. The coffee/tea/pastries were tasty and plentiful. I would stay here again! The staff was awesome. They brought me a coffee pot and all the fixings to go along with it, including 2 mugs. The room was cozy and had floor heat which was nice since the temp outside was -15. They had wi-fi issues but I didn't mind that much because everyone is always so CONNECTED to their devices.
