Their box office staff are awful and we just couldn't enjoy the show after the rude start

We had a perfectly pleasant dinner here on Sunday. Our reason for coming was to hear live jazz,…read morewhich had been mentioned on Hot Jazz Saturday Night. I made a reservation for 4 at 5 PM through Resy -- for some reason it did not display any reservations for groups larger than 4 -- then called to up it to 5, which the restauranteur was perfectly happy to do. THEN we found out that the music is on the pub side of the business, you can't necessarily hear the jazz from the restautant, that the pub does not take reservations, and that the jazz is popular enough that the pub is often full. So, we went at 4, and on arrival told the maitre d'; that we were in the pub rather than the restaurant. And he was cool with that. The pub was half full when we arrived but by the time the musicians started, it was full, standing room only, We ordered drinks, very modest beer list, and eventually food. I had a shepherd's pie, which was fine. Others were happy with their dishes. The music was OK, really nothing to write home about. Fairly low volume, a drummer, stand-up bass, and electronic keyboard. Audience was enthusiastic, applauding the fairly brief solos. Certainly too soft to be heard in the restaurant. Glad we tried it, but not confident we will be back

The Irish Inn has old time charm. It probably has not changed since the 1960s, and people like it…read morethat way. There are three dining areas: the formal dining room, the covered patio, and the pub. Personally I find the dining room a little stodgy and gravitate to the patio for lunch in fine weather and the pub any other time. The food is solid. Stick with the Guinness burger or fish and chips, and you'll be fine. And oh yes: there's free jazz in the pub on Sunday afternoons. The soft kind. Arrive early coz the tables fill fast. And don't talk too much - you will be shushed!

A Spectacular Journey Through Washington, D.C…read more The views throughout Washington, D.C. are nothing short of breathtaking. I started by taking in the skyline from a rooftop, which set the tone for what would become a truly unforgettable tour. The vantage point from the Marine Corps Memorial was powerful and inspiring, with Arlington Cemetery stretching solemnly behind it, reminding me of the deep history and sacrifice embedded in this city. Standing at the Lincoln Memorial, I was able to see the iconic sweep of the National Mall, the Washington Monument rising proudly in the distance. Walking down toward it, every step felt like strolling through the center of American history. Cutting across to the Jefferson Memorial, I was greeted by a beautiful structure perfectly reflected in the surrounding waters--absolutely outstanding. From there, I could look back across the Mall and glimpse the White House anchored in the heart of the capital. That view alone was gorgeous. Approaching the Washington Monument up close was awe-inspiring, its height dominating the city's horizon. The next day, I continued this incredible journey by seeing the White House from all sides--the north, the west, and the south--each angle offering a different look at one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. Finally, strolling down the streets lined with federal institutions--from the Department of Labor, to the IRS, to the Securities and Exchange Commission--really showcased the power and importance of the nation's government at work. And as a perfect finale, I arrived at the magnificent Capitol Building on Capitol Hill, standing proudly above it all. From start to finish, the views around Washington, D.C. are stunning, historical, and moving--a visual reminder of the incredible story of America.

This is the perfect place to bring new visitors to this area to see all the major landmarks all at once. Ofcr. Despite the city atmosphere, parking is pretty decent and the Rosslyn Metro is right across the street.

After dinner one night, we walked around downtown Bethesda and happened upon Henry's Sweet Retreat…read more Luckily, we saved room for dessert, and Henry's hit the spot. We got a blueberry pop tart, and some raspberry scones, along with a chocolate covered vanilla cupcake. Yummy! The only problem is that Henry's is not just a dessert bakery - the store may appear tiny on the outside, but it's huge on the inside. In addition to the bakery, they got all kinds of candy and other goodies for sale. I gotta stop back in another day and try all the other good stuff inside. Plus, you can tell from the Rick Astley-inspired sign outside, Henry's has a great sense of humor. This is exactly what small business brings to the neighborhood. Stop by and visit Henry's Sweet Retreat - you'll be glad you did!

All of it was DELICIOUS! The small sundaes were huge! Kids could not finish them and at $7ish each hard to beat for the quality! I had an eggnog cupcake. I was not sure it would be good but whatever magic y'all put in it worked great together! The frosting was light and fluffy not too sweet not too bland. And the cake was moist, not crumbly, not heavy just perfect! Had a latte with soymilk because my belly does not care for milk in coffee. Local coffee company supplies the beans. They also have pretty much any kind of candy, pies, and sweets you might need and apparently they cater! Stop in you will not regret it...unless you do not like sweets and then I am sorry.
