The kids had the best time but scramble employees were no where to be found! There was no one monitoring kids. My kid got hurt a few times by slightly older kids and it was quite chaotic. The staff were not cleaning at all. You have to remove your shoes before entering the play area but the toilets are located inside the play designated area which means you have to go into the bathroom with socks on which is very gross. They should allow shoes in the bathroom area. Also the soap dispensers were empty and the lady that cleans the bathroom just hung out in the bathroom not really cleaning or filling the soap. The cafe - there are food options for kids and adults. We did try the kids pizza and French fries. The pizza was fine( cheese) but the fries were not good. It tasted like they fried it in very old oil. They do have coffee but I did not try it as the didn't have an option for skim milk. They do not allow outside food or drink but no one seems to really monitor that. Security - ok so this is non-existent. There is a door that divides outside area with inside play area but kids can easily open the door and leave the premises. The lady that stands by the door doesn't monitor kids matches with their guardians. She just opens and closes the door and often she is not there at all. They do not give wristbands at all or any form of security feature. So watch your kids closely while you are there as once they go into that massive play area it's difficult to locate them. The kids seemed to enjoy it as they don't worry about germs , dirt or food. I mean it's fine for an hour or so but honestly it was the last resort when deciding on a place to take the kids too. They also charge the adults an entry fee!!! ‍ I mean it's not like we are playing in the kids areas . I think we paid $55 for entry (2 kids and 2 adults). Would I go back? Not by choice but if the kids asked then I would consider it for an hour or two. ( definitely not on a weekend though).

If this park gets boring, you can simply walk over to the other side of the interstate and see Bon Air park. There is a path going under the interstate that connects them. It's great because there is a lot of shade and there's even a shade garden in Bon Air park, as well as more restrooms and barbecue pits. There is also plenty of parking for this park. There's a parking lot and I'm sure you can also find spots in the neighborhood or even on the other side of the interstate adjacent to Bon Air park, if you are really desperate to find a spot and don't mind a short walk. It seems much older and worn than the one on the other side. There is also a small blue wooden house, a mock pirate ship, a rocker animal and a few plastic tables and cars that you would get from a department store in this section as well. The area is lined with rubber matting and sand. It was not my favorite area to say the least. In between the two fenced playground areas, you will find a few benches to sit. The picnic shelter has a bunch of picnic tables under it and is in decent shape. The basketball court is a full court and is in fair shape. The park has a fair amount of green space to play, but the grass does have a large bald spot in the front that is just dirt and a few patches near the basketball court. The back side of the park, across the walkway, is where you will find some picnic tables and grills in a shaded area. This park needs a little TLC and updates to get it back up to speed. It is a fair park and would be an ok place to pass time if you are in the area. It would not be my go-to or destination park though. It does have a lot of potential though and I hope that it makes the needed modifications to reach that potential.

None of these are particularly amazing or updated like the fancy new stuff at many other playgrounds in the area, but all work perfectly well for kids (and parents) looking for a place to simply run and play. The area is fenced and gated (with a relatively child proof or at least child resistant locking mechanism) which I like a lot and wish all parks offered. I did not walk all the around to the back of the grassy area on the other side of the picnic structure to check to see if the fence went all the way around the entire park though, so I can't speak to the full "security" of the park overall, but it definitely seems securely fenced on the street side where all or most of the actual playground equipment is located, and I was able to watch my three kids play in different areas on either side fairly easily from my vantage point at the central picnic structure. It's not my kids' first choice of park in the area, given so many other nearby options like Quincy, Oak Grove, Woodstock, Woodlawn, Mosaic Park, Madison Manor and others, but it's a perfectly nice neighborhood park with a number of enticing elements like the spray ground, sand pit play area, covered picnic shelter, and several tennis and basketball courts. This is definitely for the 5 and under crowd IMO. There are no big slides, no extensive climbing apparatuses. There's 2 baby swings and 2 big swings. There's a large sand pit that includes an excavator for digging and a play kitchen. There is a 3 person seesaw and a tiny pirate ship. There are two small slides. The centerpiece is supposed to be a solar system themed spray park. Currently you can climb on the "planets". Water fountains are working. There are tennis courts and a small bike circle. If you have bigger kids, go elsewhere but this is perfect for toddlers!
