This is my second review and another fantastic ride with AOH. Dave was a great trail boss! He took excellent care of all of us and took extra time let us stop and enjoy the views. Each ride I have done has been far more enjoyable then other places I have ridden at. The views are spectacular and the staff is awesome. Deb always answers back rather quickly to my emails. We had a really good time yesterday. My wife had been wanting to go horseback riding for a long time but I wasn't that fired up about it because old bones heal slowly. Neither of us had ridden in a long time. For our anniversary I finally decided to get a little tougher and get it goin. As soon as we got there it was apparent that the horses, equipment and facilities were really well cared for. We had a 3:30 appointment and they were ready for us right on time. Angie and Hugo spent time making sure we were comfortable and gauged the ride to our level. We went on a trial ride with Angie leading. The horses, Peace and Willy were beautiful and, while they had their own personalities, the were real team players. We spent about 45 minutes on the trail and then we went to the riding ring to "open it up" a little. I hadn't been on a horse at a run in a while and it was great. Anyway, good people who obviously care for the horses and other animals. Would do it again any time. They seemed to be getting a lot of texts, though, and they were definitely in demand so if you wan to go I'd book it a couple days early. Great time. God Bless, guys, and giddyup! read more

I took my 77yr old Mom and my 12yr old Son to Adventures on Horseback. It was the best guided horseback riding adventure that we've ever been on. They give you a quick talk on horse riding and safety. Then you're off and riding. They have beautiful horses and we went on the ranch ride. They have over 300 acres of ranch, so this is not one of those boring rides. Beautiful scenery, and our guides Debbie and Dave were wonderful. They were entertaining and informative, it was fun and educational. We go to Ramona every year and we are definitely coming back for the best horseback riding adventure of all. What a great experience! My girlfriend and I did the ranch ride with Dave this afternoon and had an awesome time. We are both inexperienced riders but Dave made sure we were comfortable on the horses and explained the riding technique in a clear and understandable manner. Our horses Chip and Doc were super well trained and fun to ride. The ranch itself is a sprawling outdoor complex lined with oak trees and dotted with buckwheat and sage bush. We highly suggest heading down the road to one of the local wineries to end your afternoon with a glass of local wine! read more

My (now) fiancé and I cannot thank Adventures on Horseback enough for the incredible and unforgettable private, guided ride that Debbie took us on. Halfway through the winery ride, at the oak tree, Debbie, according to the plan she and I had devised, suggested that my (then) girlfriend and I get off our horses and take a few photos in front of the oak tree and the west-facing view. With Debbie capturing the moment, I asked my (then) girlfriend to marry me! We then rode back to the Turtle Rock Ridge Winery where owners Ian and Laurie had helped me organize a wonderful lunch (courtesy of Marmalade on Main) with flowers, champagne, and their wine. Adventures On Horseback (AOH) in Ramona, CA, was a wonderful first riding experience for my grandchildren, ages 9 and 14. Dave, the head wrangler, was magnificent with his instruction, sensitivity to the unknown for my grandchildren, patience and attentiveness while we navigated the trails over the beautiful countryside. Prior to the ride, Dave requested ages, heights, and weights of the riders which gave him the information he needed to saddle the appropriate horses. What a great time! We went on a 1 hour winery ride on Valentine's Day, and the experience from beginning to end was top-notch. Deb was so sweet on the phone and over email making sure she had a horse that could accommodate my very tall boyfriend, and when my Christmas gift certificate for him got lost in the mail, she went above and beyond to make sure I had one in hand to give him on Christmas morning! Aside from the service and the beautiful gift certificate, the ride itself was fantastic! Everyone was given a beautiful horse to ride that was suited to their experience level (mine being pretty much none). I rode the lovely Lacey and my boyfriend got to ride a sweet horse named Rudy. We rode from the winery up through a hill and across a ridge with breathtaking views of Ramona. Deb and Racine also provided great commentary and instruction throughout the ride. This was the Best!! Sabrina provides horses who are obviously well cared tor and loved. The ride is gorgeous with various terrains which makes the ride interesting. I have limited mobility so Sabrina matched me with a smooth gaited horse named Feo which I changed to El Guapo which he truly is. I am returning with a tub of horse cookies to tip the horses, but don't forget the humans too.They deserve and appreciate it. Yesterday, Sunday, November 19, 2017, my 8 and 1/2 year old granddaughter did the 1.5 hour Ranch Ride. Although my granddaughter has been on a horse before (guided in a corral), this was her first trail ride. We went up and down hills on a wonderfully clear trail. The horses were the most gentle and well behaved, I have ever ridden. My granddaughter rode a mare (Lacy Lou) that was just incredible and perfect for a child her age or for any first-time trail rider. During the 1.5 hours we were on the trail, my granddaughter went from a scared scowl to smiles from ear to ear. As we were getting close to the end of our ride, our guide even had us do two separate, short trots, which my granddaughter just loved. Our guide, Dave, was also the best I have ever rode with. He had the patience of a saint and talked my granddaughter through ever aspect of the ride. When I asked my granddaughter if she would like to ride again, she could not say "Yes!" fast or loud enough. Need less to say, we are planning to come back for another ride this coming spring. Perhaps this time, we both can convince my wife to join us. I highly recommend Adventure on Horseback. read more
