The service was quick and friendly, for the most part it was a sports bar with sitting off to the side for the restaurant. You could see whatever game was on the TV from any c of the tables. We were driving through town and happened upon this spot. Service was great and food was delicious. My husband had the dill trout and it was really well seasoned and cooked. I had the honey walleye and it was also well cooked and the wild rice soup and corn chowder was delicious. My dad and I went here for Father's Day. We ordered steak and a salad, but the steak was kind of bland. The one thing that made us uncomfortable was the fact our waitress assumed we were together and on a date. Like what? Also I heard that they said Tim Walz sucks and it was on their sign outside of the restaurant. If I have known that already I wouldn't have come. I took my date to have some meatloaf and ribs.. The food was marginal and tasted bland but edible a real marginal meal... Which is odd we had eaten there several times in the past.. Let me get this straight: My family calls ahead three weeks to book some family guests (13 or so for a post funeral reception for my father) and we get charged a fee commonly charged for a banquet room, but we get the back of the dining room. If only that was in the top five of problems with this Adventure's visit!! Service was extremely rude. We actually had one server to start for thirteen people, and then another server takes over mid food. I was told I had to pay extra for salad dressing, despite ordering a double salad with half the amount of dressing! It gets worse. We asked for a second bottle of ketsup. We were told there is one at the other end of the table (for thirteen patrons). My salad had all kinds of rusty lettuce. God forbid a server fill the drinks. I actually went to the bar to get a refill and was told that the server was helping someone else and would get back to our tables shortly... again, thirteen people, less than one server for a booked date!!! I have been lazy and haven't posted a review in a while, but this place blew me away. I was in town chasing the Great Gray Owl at Sax-Zim and was staying next door at the AmericInn. I figured this was going to be another run-of-the-mill bland chain restaurant with a lousy draft beer selection and overcooked food. Wrong. The selection of draft beers was excellent; a bit pricey but worth the quality. The first night I had the teriyaki salmon, which was cooked perfectly. The second night I had the elk, cooked as the French would say "saignant", and it was so delicious ... lean and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience all around. My party got their food and I waited for my food to come out. The people I was with were waiting for my food to come to start eating and there food was getting cold. My food finally came and the steak was not as I ordered. It was raw. I got the waitress and told her that my steak wasn't cooked the way I ordered it. She took it back and again I waited a long time before I asked the waitress about my food. She went and came back with it. I cut into the steak and again it was raw. At this point I was done and said I should be comped for this meal. She got the manager and she came over was super rude and said she only comp the meal if she took the food back. I said take it . She came back with my adjusted bill and didn't even offer an apology. We spoke with the owner on our way out and again no apology was given for the terrible experience that I had. It will be a very long time before I go back here. There are only a few restaurants for us to go to here and I'm seriously disappointed from my experience. read more

The owners should be ashamed of themselves and it just proves what many have said about them being horrible people Aside from that. I've never had a good meal and have not eaten at this place in many years. I will not go to this establishment ever again. We get you're upset that your business is not doing well during this time. Most restaurants aren't. But maybe take a look at your gross food and horrible service and figure out what the real reason your business is not doing well. Went out with some friends for the Oktoberfest menu. We ordered drinks which were kind of bad. The vodka martini tasted like it was made with sweet vermouth, rum and coke was watery. The food was ok, except the gingersnap meatballs may have been microwaved. One meatball had the consistency of a ping pong ball. The gingersnap gravy was quite good as was the spaetzel and braised red cabbage. It was a nice change from the usual meat and French fries. read more

What a delight! The food, the ambience, and the service were all outstanding! I had the Lumberjack Burger and it was incredibly tasty. All of my friends were also pleased with their meals. Our waiter was top notch - attentive, and even patient with one of my colleagues who struggled with deciding which soup to get. Food is not great. Appetizers are decent though. I go for the drinks/happy hour and ambience. Owners are very right winged.

Overall, a completely underwhelming experience. I've eaten in the restaurant and gotten take-out several times. The meat (no matter which type of protein you order) is always dried out and tastes reheated. The vegetables are a bag of frozen, '99 cent store' vegetable medley, rather than anything fresh; and typically overcooked enough to be easily converted to baby food (which was actually a perk when I had young children because we didn't need to bring a jar of Gerber with us if we went out). Your salt options are either 'way too much' or 'none at all'. This place tries to be fancy, but is basically just a glorified Perkins, but twice the price. The small fish tank inside is nice though. One star for the fish that are swimming in their tank. Zero stars for this fish on the menu. read more

Elk Steak. Slightly gamy, but delicious when paired with sauteed onions/carrots. I'm not sure about the choice of rice that accompanies this as the combined taste was a bit unusual for me, but overall the taste and experience is satisfying. Although the food was decent, my first visit will most definitely be my last. I was seated by the bartender as the server was nowhere to be seen, which is atypical for a Monday at 2PM where the dining room was sparse. After finishing my selections, I have yet to receive a straw for my pop. I ended up Ordering the Thai Noodles, Lobster Alfredo, Sampler, as well as Egg Rolls. After our first bites, we were greeted again by our server with questions about why we had ordered so much food, and stated she had spoken with her boss about it. With wide eyes and a smirked face, I don't appreciate any sort of assumptions, as it was lunchtime and I wanted to eat. I don't appreciate drug assumptions as I would never do such a thing. Just had the WORST meal. Adventures restaurant in Virginia! Over a half hour wait just to get menus, order, get the wrong pop. Food comes out and I can't even eat mine it's so gross, rubber chicken and food that's not cooked all the way, seasoning Just dumped on. We give this restaurant a B- mainly because of the service and most of the food was good, but had some low points. There was great handicapped parking and sidewalk to go onto, only one door that was difficult to get through, but staff was right there to help. The service was outstanding, very helpful with me being in a wheelchair. Holding doors, knowing where to seat us so we are out of the way, and moving chairs for me at the table. Kids menu was also a color sheet. It had basic kid choices and reasonable prices, $4-5. We started off with the Four Season Appetizer, which had awesome bruschetta and unique mozzarella sticks that were wrapped like a egg roll. They were very good as well. They had onion rings which were ok and 4 wings that could be passed on. Next time, if we order a appetizer, we would just order the bruschetta. Jodi had an 8oz prime rib, baked potato, carrots and broccoli. She liked the prime rib, and a baked potato,well, is just a baked potato. She did not like the carrots and broccoli, because they were too crispy and had no seasoning. KayMarie had the Sportman's Steak and Mushrooms. She says the steak was dry, but the mushrooms were good. It came with boiled red potatoes that had no seasoning but were cooked well. It also came with broccoli that had no seasoning, and some were crunchy, some were soft. Christopher had kid's meal pizza with a side of fruit that included grapes, cantaloupe, and honeydew. He said he liked everything but the honeydew, which was weird cause he likes honeydew. But, he says it tasted like avocado, and that he doesn't like. Jonathan had the same kid's meal, but had fries. He liked everything, but he thinks the pizza could have been a little bigger. It was a little mushy and not heated thoroughly. I had Elk Steak Tuscany. As this was my first elk steak, it seemed tough. I ordered it medium rare. It came with 2 pieces. One was medium well. The other was medium rare. It came with Minnesota wild rice and beans. It was good, different, and little sweet. I also had the supposed cook vegetables, and they were too crunchy, no seasoning at all. Areas: Handicap: B. It had 2 parking spots. The one we parked in required us to backup, because, if not, there is a curb and grass, no sidewalk. Main entrance door was the only difficulty it had a pole in middle, and my wheelchair would not fit. But, a standard size may fit better. Kid friendly: B. It was just a color sheet, no activities that would be more suited for older kids. Food: B-. Some high points with some lows. Service: A+. Outstanding! Our waitress, Carissa, gave us individual attention. She told us how to order our steaks. She said order under, since they seem to cook over, and that was an excellent tip. Carissa gave refills right away and checked up on us often. Prices/Quantity: B+. If all our meals were done right, we would give it an A. But, you do get a lot of food for you money. Atmosphere: A. They are verbally abusive to there staff even though they preach ask questions but when you do they flip out on you over a $6 drink the worst management I have ever seen there food is stored in a moldy walk in freezer there salads sit in open bags for days at a time as well as there produce when a customer complains they they sit and talk crap in the back and they microwave alot of there food from frozen I would not recommend eating here as a former employee who left due to verbal abuse save your money! read more

We've eaten at the Adventures numerous times over the years and have found that the food is not the greatest but it is a change of scenery and the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Once the Covid ban on businesses was lifted, we thought it would be nice to eat out for a change, knowing that masks and social distancing was still being mandated. What a surprise to find that no one in the Adventures were wearing masks, including the manager. Even our waitress did not wear a mask, which we thought to be very scary since she was almost on top of us when she took our order. We should have simply walked out but instead we uncomfortably ordered and finished eating our meal ( which by the way was not at all very good). Think about it. If the management thinks that little of the safety of their customers that they refuse wearing a mask to protect them, what other safety measures are they ignoring. We will never have to worry about that since we will eat elsewhere from now on. read more

I have been to adventures before and coming from Duluth to eat there I was very unimpressed and very hurt by how the waitress, who seemed to be the manager after I left treated my elderly grandfather. He was not satisfied with his meal, and all she did was as do you want a box as he was complaining rightfully about his meal and she smirked at him the whole time asking why that was an issue, and then continued to ask him again if he wanted a box. 3 out of our 4 meals were crap and just totally disregarded us. We had dinner at your Mountain Iron location this evening and experienced terrible food and customer service. First, we waited for over 40 minutes for our food (without seeing our waitress, someone-possibly a manager did stop to say the steak was big) and when it arrived my daughter didn't get what she ordered, my dinner was ice cold and my husbands steak was almost not edible due to the bad cut and it was very over cooked. Then the waitress came and asked us if we wanted dessert and brought our bill when we weren't even all done eating yet. When I told her about all of our issues she started to walk away and yelled across the restaurant that it was our fault that our food took so long because we ordered well done meat. Yelling at us across the restaurant was the worst customer service I have ever received. I would also like to add that during our time in the restaurant three tables of people around us came in, ordered, ate and left. These people seemed to know the staff, so apparently you need to be local to get good service here. I understand that there can be issues with orders, food, etc. and that there can be delays. If the waitress would have told us that our food was taking a while and been at all courteous we would have a very different feeling about your restaurant. We will never be back. read more
