A group of us ate here on a Wednesday night after a day of state park hiking. Great deal on Hamm's beer. Haven't had one of those in ages. Was great. We really enjoyed the chipotle chicken sandwiches and the loaded spicy fries with chicken. I had the onion rings with my sandwich. The sandwich was fantastic. The onion rings were very average and I wouldn't recommend them. The service was quick and attentive though and the prices were very reasonable. This was a great stop and I'd highly recommend it! read more

Drove a half n hour from our hotel hoping to find something to eat for dinner. Ended up at McQuade's an hour before they closed. Got sat right away, as well as greeted by our server in no time. Waited a reasonable amount of time for our food, we both ordered burgers and fries. Both were mouth watering! Fries are fresh (not frozen or chain-restaurant like) Ps my Bf DESTROYED the burger in about 2.3 minutes. If I could rate this place 10 stars I would! read more

The restaurant menu was exactly what you would expect. The offerings were fine, but the food was pretty mediocre. My wings were very plain and needed more seasoning. The onion rings were pretty good, but I've definitely had better. The service was good and ambience was fine. Next time I'm in Two Harbors, I'll go to another place. read more

Right off the road in two harbors this pub has a restaurant area and a lounge area. Server was nice, restaurant was clean. We opted to sit in the lounge area since it was less busy. Ordered a strawberry bourbon smash and the drink was pretty tasty, I would next time opt for a higher quality bourbon but still delicious. I had read about the smash burgers here and I opted for the pimento cheese burger while the burger itself was delicious I could not taste the pimento cheese but next time I would order more. The fries were crispy and delicious. Overall a great spot to stop for a drink and burger on your way up or down the shore. read more

Stopped here for dinner on our way up to the North Shore and let me just say, it exceeded my expectations all around. As a vegetarian, it can be hard finding good options on the road but wow....the wild rice smash burger here was among one of the best "burgers" I've had in my life. From the flavors, to the way the patty was cooked, to the perfect bun, it was a 10/10 burger. The staff was incredibly friendly as well and very attentive. Stayed in two harbors for an evening. Ordered a cheeseburger and it was fantastic. Staff was very kind and food was cooked very quickly. I would say the burger tasted like a Culver's burger to me (very good thing) except mcquades has superior toppings. Looking for a quick lunch on our trip to the north shore and decided to stop here. Food was pretty good and service was quick! Our server was not super friendly, but other than that I would definitely recommend trying this place out if Betty's and Rustic Inn have too long wait times. We got a burger, their hot honey chicken sandwich, and their cheese curd appetizer. The cheese curds were surprisingly delicious, honestly some of the best I have had! There is plenty of seating, though the decor could use some updating and the space seems kind of thrown together. We were sat right away and our drinks were refilled quickly. Not much more to say, but it was a nice quick stop for lunch! read more

I finally satisfied my curiosity on my way to the North Shore. I got the Lift Bridge rootbeer from Stillwater. Delicious. Loved the old fashioned smashburger with loads of thin pickles layered on the bottom of the bun, topped with mayo, mustard and American Cheese. You get one side and I got a salad with blue cheese. So fresh I was getting full on half of it. Basil loved the steakhouse swiss and mushroom burger. Also the castle danger cream ale. Bella was a very attentive server, always checking on us. Love the cabin decor. read more

Stopped for a quick bite on our way up north. Wasn't expecting much but hoped the food was decent; best reviews in Two Harbors. I was impressed! Tried the hot honey chicken sandwich. Hot honey surprisingly had a nice kick, chicken was hot and nicely battered! Fries were meh, but at least they were hot and crispy. He had the mushroom and Swiss burger that was nicely prepared and tasted great. Side salad was a nice mix of fresh spring greens with fresh chopped veggies. Also, when ordering a coffee they had French press, my favorite! I think there was one server for the entire dining room and bar plus being the bar tender...but man was she fast, friendly and effective! Definitely will be stopping again when we pass through Two Harbors. read more

Had a pimento smash burger. Not a lot of flavor. Less than average taste. Came out fast which is good but it's a very thin smash burger so if you're hungry, I suggest adding an extra patty. My BF had the chicken wings. He enjoyed them. He had them plain. Non-alcoholic drinks are super limited so we just went with water. Service seemed like everyone was busy but was a little slow. Ambiance was not our cup of tea. Lot of little kids. I would not come back necessarily because this area has a lot of amazing places to eat but I'm also not thoroughly disappointed either. read more

Took a little trip to two harbors. Love it up here, being from southern MN, I enjoy going north. Stopped at this hidden gem and I gotta say it did not disappoint!! Very clean, food was delicious and service was quick. Staff were kind and overall just good service. I am glad to have stopped here, and they also were playing some banger music. Decided to stop here on the way up the shore. Big mistake. Fried pickles looked and tasted like they threw some sliced vlasics into the fryer, then sprinkled bread crumbs on top. Beer was flat. After leaving we joked that the burgers had been bought from McDonald's then refried with toppings added. How we felt after eating there more or less confirmed this idea. All in all, we don't tend to be picky when it comes to fried food and burgers, but we're not impressed. To be fair, service was good and quick, and ambience was nice. read more

We dined outdoors, there were two tables to choose from outside, which was nice because this year we didn't do any indoor dining. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. This little 'hidden' gem was delicious, hats off to the chef, seriously we didn't want each bite to end it was so good. Everything was cooked perfectly. Put your phone down and go to McQuade's! Fantastic! The logo is a bit fancy but otherwise you'd think it's just bar food. It's so much more. My friend is still raving about the vegetable curry and fried garbanzo bean appetizer. He's not a vegetarian but these menu items piqued his interest and didn't disappoint. My bulgogi tacos were wonderful - that rare treat where every bite makes you say "wow." Our server was delightful. Mary, was it? McQuade's will be our first stop next time we're in Two Harbors. Maybe our 2nd and 3rd too - I want to try everything. read more

In a few minutes my wife arrived with the car to bring us back to our cabin. But let's hear it for the good old fashioned bar that provides both literal and figurative shelter from the storm. Let me just start off by saying we used to love coming to this restaurant decent food, nice atmosphere. Until we had an atrocious experience with one of their chefs a bit ago, Mikey his shirt said I think? Since we have come here quite a few times we recognized him and tried to saying hello at the restaurant.. apparently this restaurant has no training in customer service skills or care for how employees treat loyal customers because my family has never felt treated so poorly and unethical. This so called 'chef' was belligerently rude, mean, short, passive aggressive, etc. I rarely write reviews, but I have never felt so disrespected by a man that I found it necessary. What a shame that such a good restaurant has employed a massive pig as a chef, ruining our good memories here. read more

We were up in two harbors for our honeymoon and both times we ate here we had the best time. The food is outstanding and the wine and drinks list amazing. Both my husband and I were extremely happy with both food and service! Sam was our waitress the first night and she gave the best recommendations, Mary the second and followed suit. Mary was a wonderful bartender. It was our first time here. She was very friendly. She had a sincere interest in us since we're out of towners and talked about the snowmobiling trails! I would certainly come here again!! Mary is a very bright light in this place! read more

When we arrived a bit after 7PM, we had quite some trouble finding parking and ended up having to park a couple of blocks away after circling for 20 minutes. Walking in, the place wasn't too busy, perhaps 50% capacity. We were interested in ordering the fried cheese curds, but the server told us they weren't battered in house, so we passed on them. Smoked Fish Salad (Market Price, $18.99) - This is a pretty salad - all ingredients are arranged in rows along the dish. Mixing things together is a bit of a pain, but I appreciate the dressing on the side to add to preference. The dressing is an interesting blend of mayo and other ingredients, perhaps BBQ sauce, that make it slightly tangy and very sweet. There's an undertone of smokiness throughout, which tastes somewhat like liquid smoke rather than the dressing actually being smoked. It is on the sweeter side of dressings. Other than greens, there's a row of wild rice, dark and snappy, completely broken cultivated rice. There's also a bit of house smoked trout, nice and smoky. (4/5) Classic Wild Rice Burger ($16.99) - This is one of the tallest burgers I've seen in quite a while, mostly due to the inclusion of fresh vegetables including onion and tomato, and alfalfa sprouts. For some reason instead of using larger tomatoes, they use small roma tomatoes, including three small slices. They also used red onion that's chopped into a variety of different shapes instead of whole slices. It's really strange - I guess this saves on cost? Unfortunately smaller pieces means things fall out while eating. The patty is larger than the bun. It has plenty of broken wild rice bits giving some additional crunch and that signature wild rice taste. It's charred on the griddle well and it keeps its structure, not falling apart or becoming mushy at any point. I love how it's distinctively a rice burger and doesn't try to be a meat substitute. Two slices of American cheese are melted on top that gives some fattiness to the dish. The bun is toasted without butter and there's a flavorful garlic mayo spread on the top. It would be nice if they had also applied the sauce to the bottom bun as I found the patty to not have enough moisture or fat incorporated. The burger comes with some thin commercial fries. There aren't any issues with the level of fry and they are otherwise unremarkable. (4/5) Fitger's Brewhouse serves some solid good old fashioned Midwestern American food. Not much else to say. Still a little bland tasting, but it is a nice size and I ate the whole thing. The chicken on top of it was warm and freshly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I shared a piece of chicken and some lettuce with my pup and he likewise approved. It was a warm sunny day, so I ordered a Kentucky Mule to go along with my salad. Staff was a little busy with tables inside (lots of children at one table) so they forgot about my drink sitting on the bar.
