Come on - fantastic. First the venue is wonderful with trees as a canopy for beautifully shaded dining. The business owner is very lucky having these huge trees to cover her guests. My beautiful wife had a salad which delighted her. I had (no throwing rocks at me) the foie gras and it was extremely well priced and lovely. The foie gras was so generous on the plate- frankly a huge portion and enough for three or four normal people (I'm not a normal person and I ate it all.). In America this dish would be triple the price with 1/4 the serving. Absolutely a treat and wonderful. Our server ... something like Wesson deserves a raise. Wesson is a great server, polite, friendly and attentive. And this is on a Sunday when the streets are packed with people. Not easy at all to care for clients with such a hectic pace. Adélaïde has a wonderful patio to sit and enjoy a meal. The service was kind and attentive. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our meal. We started with the french onion soup - probably the only thing we'd order again but didn't knock our socks off - and the marrow bone with garlic bread, which was fine. My partner ordered the beef bourguignon, I ordered the beef with béarnaise, french fries, and salad. It all lacked flavor and was disappointing overall. Our meal and experience at here was amazing! My son was determined to try escargot and surprisingly they were delicious. I ordered beef Bourguignon. It came in a cast iron crock. I had the tartine (which is basically a bread topped with stuff like melted cheese, sliced apples etc), omelette and quiches. All were good except whatever has camembert. Emmentel smells and doesnt taste great. The quiche was so fluffy. Although these quiches and pizzas are often premade and heated up in an oven, they taste fresh and flavourful. My favourite here is the Sacristain pastry. It looks like a baguette but it isn't. I buy two...one for breakfast and one for later back at the hotel! P.s. the mini chocolate tart is also nice!! We were disappointed with our experience here. The service was less than stellar, even though we spoke French. Also, we were seated on the second level and it was super stuffy and hot, even though the room was more than half empty. We ordered the voyager's breakfast, which came with eggs, 1 slice of "bacon" (more like canadian bacon/ham), 1 small piece of sausage, sauteed mushrooms, salad, and toast, and a cup of coffee and freshly squeezed (lukewarm) OJ. It was nothing special, like something I could have made it at home. They also give you a basket of sliced baguette. We asked for butter and we were told it was extra. We then tried to order an almond pistachio croissant because we had read raves about them on Yelp, and the server told us that those "do not exist". Maybe something was lost in translation, but when we went down to the bakery portion after our meal, we saw a almond pistachio pain au chocolat in the case, which I suppose does not have the word croissant in the name, but isn't it closely related since pain au chocolat is a chocolate croissant that's not crescent shaped? By that point, we were too full to try the pain au chocolat, having ordered an almond croissant in its stead (which they forgot to bring out until we reminded them about it), so we just picked up a couple of madeleines to take with us, and they turned out to be dry and unappealing. Even though this restaurant has its faults, it still hits the spot when you're craving good ol' eggs and bacon for breakfast. The service is incredibly slow, my eggs were not hot, but I would still go back. Many other Yelpers have brought up the bowls of hot chocolate but you also have the option to get a regular cup, which is what I ordered. A whole bowl is too much sweetness for breakfast for me! I really like the menu here. I ordered the simple eggs, toast and bacon for only 5 euros but they also offer big variety breakfast trays, with yogurt, fruit cup, toast, potatoes, smoked salmon, soft boiled egg, etc. which looked amazing! If I was more hungry, I would've definitely ordered that! The restaurant is also part bakery and the pastries/breads downstairs are great. Paris doesn't have many breakfast spots, and I would give this restaurant 3 stars back home, but compared to what the rest of Paris has to offer, Coquelicot deserves 4 stars for breakfast for sure :) read more

2 words: Almond croissants!!! Paris has the best pastries but i was still surprised when I bit into my first almond croissant at this place. It was so good, I went back right after I finished it and order two more to go. They still tasted great the next day! The broccoli and cheese quiche was just ok; make sure to tell them to warm it up before you leave the shop or else u will have to walk all the way back since biting into it cold is not the business. We stopped here to grab some coffe while visiting Sacre Coeur and weren't disappointed. I had the hot chocolate and it was absolutely amazing - rich, creamy, just a little sweet. Someone else at the table ordered a cappuccino and it was just as good. Fresly roasted and ground, the coffee was incredibly bright and had a little sweetness to it. Service could be a little better. Our server came off a little rude. however, I really won't hold that against them, considering how troublesome we were. No one at our table could speak French and we kept changing our minds on our order. Our poor server couldn't figure out what we weeee trying to say. after some crazy hand waving, pointing, and gesturing (from both sides), she went back to place our order. our poor server. I've been to most of famous, unique, local bakeries all over the Paris as a dessert addict. Nearly 2 years passed since I bought my last almond-pictachio-chocolate croissant (aka croissant au pictaches et amandes) from here . I still can't forget. There is also a very wide variety of tarts and breads. Pineapple tart was quite good, pistachio was very unique but too much for an early morning. I could not touch the continental breakfast much, you can't really eat anything but pastry here. Your mind may not be able to resist. Appreciate it when you are at the same city with Coquelicot. Take your warm bread and rush to metro. read more

I got a fruit tart here, and it was the best fruit tart I've ever had in my life. It was so good. The crust was crispy and light, and the custard was delicious. It wasn't too sweet; it was amazing! There's so much bread and a lot of variety here as well. I wish I found this place earlier in my travels so I could try more from here, but I guess that'll have to wait until the next time I go! The only downside was that it was pretty expensive and the language barrier is a bit difficult, but I guess that's just how France is. read more

We ordered the Quiche Lorraine and mushroom and cheese crepe, with a cider and cappuccino. Everything was very affordable and delicious. And our server was very friendly. Unbelievable chocolate croissants (pain au chocolate) and my husband is still talking about the pistache pastry (almond, chocolate & pistachio). We went there each morning of our week long stay in Montmarte in August 2013 because we couldnt get enough of their pastries. Just a heads up: if you want to eat something AND have an espresso or cafe creme, make sure you sit at one of the tables outside. If you purchase pastries at the inside counter your order is considered "take away" and they wont allow you to sit on the patio and eat them while you wait on your coffee. This rule completely makes sense, but we didnt know that they offered table service which is why we ordered the pastries before sitting down. This place is definitely one that I would at least attempt to speak French at. Even if you dont speak the language fluently at least say "Bonjour" to them and then order your pastries. If you need to ask any questions or say anything else Id recommend asking "parlez vous anglais?" before just rattling off in English to show that you are trying. Trying goes a long way. read more

Come here to have some tasty baked goods! A traditional french breakfast should include a hot beverage, part of a baguette, fresh butter, and homemade jam. For my morning, I started off with a bowl (I kid you not.. no handles even!) of tea, half a sliced baguette, and the accompanied sides of butter and jam. The Yelpers sent me here and I'm very, very thankful. During our eight day vacation in Paris last month, I woke up a year older (...yay birthdays!) and found it was the only day the sky decided to open up. A pouring walk from the Chat Noir Hotel almost had us stopping at every single bistro on the way to find the Coquelicot. Thankfully we marched on and settled into this beautiful little bakery breakfast spot. If you come here and don't spend 1.50E on a side of butter, there's something very wrong with you. Best butter in the world. My husband and I both ordered the two eggs on toast and bacon order - mine fried, his scrambled and some amazing cappuccino. My husband claimed his breakfast was top three breakfasts he's ever had, but I'd put it more into the top ten. I'm not a fan of rye bread (it's a very particular flavor some of us just aren't into) and the eggs and bacon came on the rye. But not knowing how to say "Can I have any other bread in your amazing bakery, please?" I sucked it up and went after it. I will say it was one of the better rye breads I've ever had, but would have much preferred the eggs on anything else. The meal really was wonderful. The service was very sweet and the baked goods looked out of this world, but we decided to pick up some sausage and potatoes at the Rotisserie on the way back to the hotel. So yes, you definitely need to come to Coquelicot des Abbesses and celebrate the fact that you're in Paris, eating amazing butter, on a day unlike any other. read more

But compared to the pastries, it was just ok. we had some really nicely cooked eggs with sausage + ham - all of which were good, and i give that a 4. The pastries were good, but it was nothing wow. The cafe au lait was pretty good but the cappucino was kind of watered down. Located in Montemartre, we stumbled across this boulangerie early morning while on our walk headed to visit Sacre Coeur. It had a long line so we figured we ought to pop in. The line moved incredibly quick so once you get a peep at the breads available make sure you decide what you want fast. It feels a bit like they are rushing you out the door. It is small so there was no where to sit. We got our breakfast breads and found some chairs outside and decided to sit there. We were immediately told to leave and not to sit there. We were so caught off guard because the lady was quite rude and we just gave this boulangerie our business. I suppose it's only for brunch goers who are only going to order a sit down meal. I'm not sure but still, she was very rude about shewing us off. We ended up walking to a nearby espresso bar and i ordered a espresso and enjoyed my breakfast at one of their outside tables. Other than that, we LOVED the bread here OMG. So delicious. It was all I could talk about when we returned to the states. The atmosphere is great, but you may feel a little cramped and like a huge person in a dwarf house upstairs. Fairly stuffy upstairs with no open windows Only one server, which made service slow. However, the bowl of coffee is worth going for and the food is very cheap compared to other sit down areas in Paris.
