After the initial estimate with Mike, it has been disappointment after disappointment: -Delays in product orders. -Unreliable timeline (estimated 8-10 weeks resulted in total of 7 months.) -Subpar subcontractors essentially causing our kitchen to be redone twice. -Lack of communication/unprofessional with delayed responses to our concerns throughout the entire process. -Incorrect initial measurements causing reorders. -Reorder color was wrong and owner Mike being dishonest about this. -Did not honor his listed veterans discount. -Purposely vague contract which covered their flaws (we spoke with a lawyer multiple times about our issues that we unfortunately could do nothing about). It took 7 months from contract signing until completion. Seven months! Well the kitchen looks done, the process has been nothing but disheartening. Overall, AVOID THIS COMPANY.

We live in a nearly 100 year old home, and…read moreironically, it was the windows replaced in (we think) the early 1970s that were the most awful - drafty, poorly insulated and rickety. So we started with those, in our kids' rooms and two bathrooms. We also had one completely new window put in, where there was formerly just a tiny vent window. Mike from Croixside was very thorough and very informative when we had him visit to consult. He did not do an aggressive hard sell as several other companies did, or try to get us to do more than we can afford at this point in time. That alone made us strongly consider Croixside. But he was also helpful with financing information and very helpful in explaining what we could expect for timing, the job itself, and the windows' performance. Our timeline was more than met. Our windows arrived a little early, so we were actually bumped up a bit in the schedule. The installer was very nice, but also very work oriented, and completed the installation in the time we were told to expect. He left the job site very clean, was fine and friendly to our little old dog, and worked quickly and quietly. Some of the windows we were replacing were so awful that even with plastic shrink weatherproofing the draft would just pour in during the winter. It is wonderful to walk into a bathroom in November and not have a chilly draft! One of our kids had such an awful window he would get an occasional scrim of ice on the surface of his water glass overnight! Now his room is toasty. The windows look super appropriate to the house, and blend in incredibly well. They will be easy to clean, all from the inside, which is great as most of them are on the second floor. We will be calling Croixside again when we are ready to do more window replacement, and would recommend them enthusiastically for their good product and good work.

Unfortunately I found that when you measure for them and order them, being off by even a quarter-inch would be enough to ruin the whole thing, so I wanted to find the best. Enter Mark Obrycki. Mark walked us through every step of the process, helping us choose colors, frames, and explaining what he would be doing to make everything look perfect. He measured, ordered, and installed the shutters for us, and got it right the first time (no easy task!) More importantly, he did all the little stuff. He took his shoes off at the door every time he came in and out of the house without being asked. He dusted off high places in our house we normally wouldn't reach. He was kind, generous, and friendly. He put down cloths to catch wood and drywall dust when he was screwing into our walls and casement. In short, he was a perfect professional. A joy to work with. He has a very calm, kind bedside manner and sort of oozes honesty and forthrightness. It's a rare thing to find. His quote was pretty similar to a lot of the other folks who do shutters, and actually a little lower than most. For the money, I'm sure you can't find better service. I'd recommend him for any window treatment job you've got.

Took the "manager" almost 5 hours to do my vehicle even dropped off early. called around 430 to see…read morewhat was going on with my vehicle got an excuse about how the tech had to redo a few windows a couple of times. ok fine I understand. would have been great to get a phone call saying that it's taking a little longer than expected. 1st red flag. was told to show up between 430 and 5pm. showed around 5 he still wasn't finished. went inside to talk to the receptionist didn't get a sorry they were acting kind of weird to be honest, like something happened. 2nd red flag. the tech finally pulled my car around. At the time I did know he was the "manager" I went outside to look at it all but the windshield had some scratches on it. Mind you I worked at a competitors shop with wraps window tinting ceramic coating you name it. I was a quality control/ product ordering manager for them. So I know what "cut" windows from tinting looks like. I went back inside still no apologies for how long it was taking nothing. the receptionist asked if everything was ok I told him what I saw a lady that was at the desk with him got up and went to get the manager. he came to the front and asked what was wrong I told him. We went out side I showed him the scratches. he said the only reason they were visible now was because of how dark the tint is. Turned around and went back inside. still no acknowledgment about how long it took or anything. I then talked to the receptionist again. He asked me if the manager took care of everything. I told him no said that nothing was wrong and it was because of the how dark the tint was. At this point the manager didn't introduce himself to a new customer acted like had done nothing wrong and look like he was more irritated about what has happened instead of taking care of the customer Mind you still no apology. I paid for a job that was half a$$3d and by the manager no less. I then left not satisfied with the work more irritated than anything. Kinda explains what took soon long with the tint. It shouldn't take but a couple of hours to do the job and by a "manager" probably less time. I'm wondering if he was trying to fix his screw up in the time. Got a text a day later asking to leave a comment about my service. Did so it was negative of course. Later that day I got another text from someone named sunny. Told them what had happened they asked if I could take pictures of the windows in doing so I had noticed now my rear passenger headrest was sitting kind of funny went to go adjust it and put it back down in doing so it came off the posts. Im now line wtf seriously not only had this guy cut up my windows he destroyed the head rest also. Before they say oh that was done previously no It actually wasnt. No body rides in the back I have no reason to move the head rest at all. Sent pictures told sunny about this crickets now they were so quick to try to help and now I was ghosted. Its Wednesday now when sunny was texting me. Gave them till Monday the 27th still no word so I texted sunny back Tuesday the 28th still nothin. So frustrated about this not on am I out 5 very expensive windows now I have to order the headrest from Germany that going to cost 500+ shipping and taxes. I went to Tint World first, and they quoted me $992 "after discounts" for the same package I got here at Sun Control for a much better price. That alone made me feel good about my decision, but the experience sealed the deal. This isn't my first time coming here--on my last car, I got their entry-level tint, which was decent for adding some privacy. But this time, I went with XPEL XR Prime Plus, and the difference is insane. If you've looked into XPEL, you already know it's top-tier and comes with great benefits, but what really stood out was the team at Sun Control. They're super easy to work with, clearly focused on making sure you're happy, and they had my whole car done in about 3 hours, including the front and back windshields. What really impressed me was their attention to detail. My car has a third brake light that's inside the rear windshield. Without me even asking, they hand-cut the tint, and it looks perfect--like it came from the factory that way. No rough edges, no misalignment, just clean and precise work, leaving the light bright and visible. That level of care isn't something you get everywhere, and it makes a huge difference. I can see other shops disregarding something like this; and I wouldn't even have noticed. I did a ton of research before getting my tint done and came across a lot of horror stories from other places, so I was a little nervous going in. But Sun Control absolutely delivered, and now I've got nothing but a great experience to share. I seriously think this is the best place in the state for tint. Plus, they back it up--a 2-year warranty on their work, and the film itself has a lifetime warranty. If anything happens, they fix it at the shop, no hassle. While the small shop is a bit of a jumble, the proprietor really knows his stuff and after a few minutes listening to our needs helped steer us to a great solution. He even had a relationship with an installer so we could get it professionally hung (not something I wanted to tackle on my own). The only not was that it took about 6 weeks to get the fan as he only gets weekly shipments from his supplier. In this day of 2 day delivery that struck me as slow but we were still happy with our new fan and it's nice dealing with a local business.

I like that we were able to schedule a virtual consultation during COVID. I sent Hirshfield's photos and measurements before the consultation. The customer service rep, Beth was pleasant and informative on the call. She told me she'd draft up a quote based on our living room's details/measurements. However, when I received the quote, there was a miscalculation on how many windows we had. Also, the price was quite outrageous! I emailed her back asking her to revise the quote and make some other adjustments to lower the price, but I received NO response. I thought that was kind of rude. Overall, I won't be going with Hirshfield's because it felt like they aren't considerate of their customer's needs or budget.
