Pretty upsetting experience with Aeromexico on our flight home from Mexico City. As with any flight, we attempted to check in 24 hours in advance, but it did not let us and informed us that we would need to see an agent upon arrival to the airport to get checked into our flight. The evening of the flight we got to the airport two hours ahead of time. To our surprise, our tickets were placed on standby and the agent at baggage check instructed us to get to our gate as soon as possible to check in there to secure seats. The flight was quite overbooked. We went directly to the gate as quickly as we could only to find no one at the counter. We waited there for about 20 minutes before someone arrived. Also important to note, we were the first people to arrive at the gate counter with a few more people lining up after us during the 20 minute wait. Once agents arrived at the gate desk, we explained our situation to one of the female agents and she took stubs off of our ticket telling us she would call her names soon. Over the course of the next hour, the flight began to board with everyone lining up and getting on the plane. During the course of this hour, we continue to stand by the desk waiting for our names to be called. Also, during this time, we saw multiple passengers that were in line behind us get issued tickets to the flight. At a certain point, I interjected, and ask the same agent for an update, and she picked our stubs off of the counter, almost as if she forgot about us as she had everyone else's tickets and stubs in hand. She informed us we were next to be offered tickets to board the flight. The flight has now been fully boarded and from what we understand, we're still next in line to be given tickets. A family of three then checks in at the counter asking what about them and the agents issue the three of them tickets, even though we were told we were next. At that point a male agent turns to us, and says there is one seat left, will you take it or is it imperative that you to fly together? Obviously, neither of us were going to leave the other, which we told them. Immediately they stopped talking to us, and then just went ahead and put someone else in the last seat without even communicating what they were doing. After the plane was fully boarded, all the agents turned to each other, basically telling each other job well done, as they began to leave, and we were still just waiting for a resolution. Ultimately, they ended up booking us on a flight for the following morning departing about 14 hours later. This was a pretty frustrating setback, especially given work scheduling and dog sitting, etc. with the only saving grace being that they offered us what I believe to be quite reasonable compensation for their error. This whole situation, honestly, could have been handled lot better, as we felt like the airline simply could have just communicated better with us during the entire process, as opposed to making us feel like we were left in the dark. read more

GRRRR! This Airline is a joke. GRRR #1: They cancelled our flight from PVR to MEX the morning of our departure. We were told to go online and find another flight (none available). We then called Aeromexico and spoke to an agent. Miraculously, he found a flight 6 hours later. We get to the airport 4 hours early and get our boarding passes. The boarding passes are for a DIFFERENT flight 2 more hours later!!! (we were lucky, because those who didn't speak to an agent in the morning had to spend the night at a hotel and leave the next day). GRRR #2: One week later, we're flying home. I go to check-in online and the system keeps rejecting my info. Then I get a text message asking me to check-in with a link. I click on it and it starts asking for names and birthdates, seat choice (that's funny, I already have my seats), then it wants me to pay-AGAIN!!!!!! I immediately quit the session. I'm not sure where to leave a review of Aeromexico Airlines, so I'll do it here. We flew on AM through Mexico City to Paris (weird route, I know). The price was reasonable, but I'll list the pros and cons of the airline: Pros: · New 787 plane with lie-flat beds in first class. Super comfy pods and seats. Well designed, so everything you need is within reach. · The mini duvet was comfortable. · Amenity kits were nice. · Food was good. High quality and good options. · Staff was friendly and accommodating. · The plane was clean. · Boarding was organized in that they have lines by group. Cons: · OMG, the non-stop announcements. The plane was equipped with automatic announcements for key events (reaching altitude, seat belts, and all the stuff you expect). Then there were the extraneous ones (we've concluded meal service, etc.). On top of all that, the flight attendants made separate ones, some of which were redundant to the automatic ones. Multiple times. On every leg of the trip. Then the pilots made theirs. You couldn't get through 30 minutes before the next one comes on. The worst ones were the end of meal service one I mentioned earlier. It came on almost half an hour after the meal, when folks were starting to sleep. Then all the screens lit up and that voice came blaring over the PA. Same with the survey one. Blue screens everywhere lit up and the loud voice came on. · See bullet above. · Our flights suffered delays. There were no announcements made at the gate, so passengers only knew when they saw the board. Plus, once asked, the gate agents gave a reason that did not match what the pilot said after we boarded. · They knew about the delay at least 6 hours before our departure time (because the aircraft was stuck earlier in the day due to weather), but there were no advanced notifications. · Since there were delays, there should be ground staff meet the aircraft and help passengers with connections. Nope, there was nobody there. We went to the kiosk to ask about the connecting flight and the agent gave us the wrong gate information. There was a lot of running around. · Since English is the recognized international language, the purser should be fully bilingual. On our four flights, the lead agent was really hard to understand in English. So think of the constant announcements when you can barely make out what they were saying. · The choices in the entertainment system were very limited, and the available movies were not great. read more

They scam you, do NOT call to pay baggage over the phone because it will not register on your ticket. I paid for two seats next to each other, then when we were boarding the plane my seaf was changed to the waaay back and my sister did not even have a seat. Flew from JFK-MEX on AM409 7/17/2019. Having paid the cheapest ticket I was still allowed to bring onboard one carryon item plus a backpack, free alcohol and a meal was served onboard my flight on a pretty new 787-9 Dreamliner. The only thing was they didn't give bread with the meal and they forgot to give peanuts with beer. Had issues both leaving and coming home. Our flight out of O'Hare was delayed 1 hour in the middle of the night, flight took off at about 2 a.m. With the delay we knew we were going to miss our connecting flight from Mexico City to Oaxaca. At the check-in desk, the staff was having difficulty rebooking us on a Oaxaca flight. They printed boarding passes that said "stand-by", but said we were on the flight, even though we were not assigned seats. In Mexico City, our gate changed. The connections desk told us "Gate F", but the screens said "Gate D." The staff at the Aeromexico Desk at the correct gate was very unhelpful, kept saying "come back later", but we were worried about missing a connection with inconsistent information about the gate. The next staff told us that the flight was overbooked, but fortunately he got us seats as standby. Returning home, our flight from Oaxaca to Mexico City was delayed. There was no communication with the second delay. About 30 minutes passed after the delayed departure time before there were any announcements made. I had a flight from Mexico City to Houston on Nov. 26th, 2023 and tried to check in online ALL day the day before, but their webpage kept saying "error" after I declined to pay for a specific seat. I figured I could just check in at the airport and even stayed at a hotel 10 minutes away from the airport to be there on time since my flight would depart at 6:55 am. I got to the airport at 5:00 am and got in line with everyone else. I got to the counter at 5:45 am and I was told that the flight had already been closed. I said I had tried to check in online but the app did not work, and that I only had a carry-on and was still within ample time to get a ticket and board the plane since boarding did not begin until 6:45 am. She said there was nothing she could do, and that I'd have to purchase a new ticket. Another employee approached me and told me the same thing and to go to "Customer Service" to see what they could do. I went to Customer Service, and I was told that the only other flight through Aeromexico was at 1:00 pm but was fully booked. I explained how I hadn't been able to check in online, and that I was at the counter trying to get my ticket well before boarding even started, but she just gave me a "look" and said that she could look for a new ticket on other airlines. Although I am limited on funds due to health issues and constant doctor's visits, I ended buying a new $600 plane ticket through United because I needed to get home. I feel that the online app and the fact that they closed the flight an hour before they even start calling the first group to board, are both part of a scam to get you to buy a new plane ticket ... hopefully though them. I have had other issues with this airline before, but never so blatantly absurd in relation to the time the airline decided to close the flight. I can assure the airline that I will NEVER fly with them again. In fact, even the thought of coming to Mexico or any of their other destinations will more than likely be replaced with a visit to another country, any other country except Mexico. Fully agree 100 percent. AeroMexico qualifies as worst airline I have ever used. Their aircraft are well maintained, and I know there are airlines out there that don't maintain their aircraft, so I will give them that. I don't say they are dangerous. In fact they are a lot safer than most airlines. The reason is that it's hard to get on to their flight, after you've paid for their ticket. So half the time you don't even get to fly. Staying on the ground is a lot safer than flying. We bought tickets in August, for a flight in December. Due to the huge lineups, there was just a little bit over 80 minutes left when we got to the counter. It was a domestic Mexican flight, and we were already checked in the day before. All we needed was to get our luggage to the flight which was entirely possible to do. Aeromexico said that they couldn't do it, and that we needed to buy new tickets. The new tickets would be twice as expensive as the originals. But, they threatened, if we didn't buy the new tickets they would cancel our return flight as well. So under duress we bought the new tickets. Amazingly, with the new tickets, they were able to get our luggage to the flight in half the time, just 40 minutes before the flight. I guess the speed of luggage movement depends on how much money you give these bastards. but guess what? They did cancel the return flight too. They said we needed to buy a third set of tickets to get the return flight!!!! Obviously we used a different airline for that. Aeromexico is never going to get my business again. I flew with Aeromexico (operated by Delta) for the first time in September back from Cancun to Houston with a layover in Mexico City. There was a lot of turbulence, more than any flight I've ever experienced. So needless to say, it wasn't the most relaxing flight. I traveled with a group of friends and we missed our second flight that was scheduled to leave at 3:00 pm. There were no more flights out that day so we had to take the first flight out the next morning and get a hotel room nearby. We were only able to book another flight after calling Delta and speaking with a representative because the Aeromexico gate agents would not help us and were pretty rude about it. My initial flight out of León was 2+ hours late departing because the prior Aeromexico flight was late to arrive. The gate agent never told us why the plane was late or when it might be expected. When I told him I was concerned about my connection in Mexico City, he said I'd be fine. Apparently there were two emails sent, but there was no reliable/free Wifi service in the airport, so I didn't even see these emails until I arrived in Atlanta 12 hours later. When we landed in Mexico Citywe landed away from the terminal on the tarmac and had to be put on busses to the terminal. On other airlines there are announcements before you land telling you where your next gate is, plus gate agents right inside the terminal to help you find your connection. Not with Aeroméxico. I asked a flight attendant, she had to idea. When I found a screen with my flight, of course it was at a gate all the way across the airport. I ran like crazy with my bag, but with less than 20 minutes it was hopeless. I arrived at the gate out of breath and there was no sign of my plane. It was long gone. They didn't even wait a few minutes, even though they knew they had customers arriving late. I walked to a desk where agents could change my flight. They offered to rebook me on Delta, with a flight to Atlanta where I could then catch a second flight to Boston. I told them my sister lives in Atlanta and said I could spend the night with my sister, and then continue traveling the next morning. They said no. I warned them that once I arrived in Boston I would have to travel two more hours (by bus) and then another by car, and that the last bus of the night was leaving at 11:35, so if I arrived in Boston too late to catch the bus, I wouldn't be able to leave Boston until the next day. They gave me two options: 1. Stay that night in Mexico City in a hotel with an Aeroméxico voucher and go out the next afternoon on the same direct flight to Boston, arriving 24 hours later than originally planned, 2. re-book on Delta through Atlanta to Boston, stay in a hotel in Boston with an Aeroméxico voucher and catch the bus in the morning. I chose to continue traveling that day and was given new tickets and a printout which was supposed to be a hotel voucher. They told me to ask Delta agents to help me get to the Boston hotel. When I arrived in Boston the Delta agents wouldn't book my hotel because the problem was with Aeroméxico, not Delta. They said I should get on the phone with Aeroméxico, so I did. (The nearby Hilton had rooms at $185 plus tax.) Hilton said they would need to get a phone call directly from Aeroméxico. So, I called Aeroméxico's 1-800 # and got an agent. I explained everything to the Aeroméxico agent and she flatly refused to call the hotel. Said it wasn't "policy." Said if I had a "problem" she could give me an email address to write and I could take things up with customer service via email. She was not going to help me with my lodging even though I was holding something that was supposed to be a voucher. I also posted to Twitter where Aeroméxico responded immediately that I should pay the hotel rate (which would have been $200 by the time tax was added) and then follow up with Aeroméxico later. (There was no promise to reimburse me, only to "follow up" with me.) I saw multiple complaints on facebook and Twitter by disgruntled Aeroméxico customers who had flown in the last few weeks and who complained that no one was addressing their problems, so I wasn't about to spend $200 and risk that I, too, would be blown off. So, I spent the night in the airport. But I couldn't sleep as it was a little cold and a little noisy and uncomfortable on the marble floor. In the morning, when the busses started running again, I caught the bus and came home. I am 62 years old and fairly well-traveled, but I have never had to spend the night in an airport. This was a first. I would have never accepted option #2 (continue traveling) if I had known that voucher I was being given was worthless. Your agents in Mexico City need to know that if they offer this in the future there is a very good chance the customer will be stranded in a distant city with a worthless piece of paper. Your "policy" of not helping customers on the 1-800 number and instead giving them an email address for resolving problems (to get a voucher to work, to avoid sleeping in an airport) is a joke. I talked with an actual agent who refused to help me. This is unforgivable. I will never fly on Aeroméxico again, and any chance I get, I will share my nightmare experience with others and recommend that they book other airlines. Your customer service policies don't serve your customers. I wish I had looked at Twitter and/or facebook before booking my ticket as I would have seen how many unhappy customers you have. read more

0 stars. I should have read these reviews prior to booking my trip. I am not a high maintenance traveler, so this experience was truly awful, and I travel a lot. I booked a flight from Los Angeles to Madrid with a transfer in Mexico City. It is true that they force you to go through immigration and customs and re check into your next flight even though you never even make it out of the airport. My flight landed late in Mexico City, and I only had about an hour to transfer. I explained my situation to the immigration people and they did not care and said I had to wait in the giant line regardless. Finally made it through, got my luggage through customs and dropped it off in the appropriate area. Ran through security and airport to arrive at my gate with 5 minutes to spare. Too late, they would not let me on. I proceeded to the help desk where the guy was a giant asshole, not apologetic, and barely helpful. He gave me several options to leave, all which were not direct flights meaning I had to go through another city before getting to Madrid, all which left at least 6 hours later, and making me arrive in Madrid at 11 pm at night which was not ideal for a solo female traveler. He would not help reimburse me for a hotel either since it was "my fault" that I booked through a third party website. I cannot understand how it would even be an option to book a flight with such little time to transfer if it was physically impossible to do so. To make matters worse, he proceeded to lose the baggage tag for a fellow traveler stuck in my situation and blamed her for losing it even though he had not returned it to her after trying to get her a replacement flight. Finally I arrive in Madrid after about 30 hours of travel and proceed to find out that my luggage is missing, even though the guy had confirmed that I did not need to get my luggage in Paris and that it would go directly to Madrid. It is the next morning and they still cannot find my luggage. I am completely repulsed by this airline and will tell everyone I know to never fly with them. What a horrible company. read more

These guys are thieves! I recently visited the Mexico City airport and this airline was my carrier. They checked my bags at a cost of $25 / each. They asked me if I wanted to pay cash, I could do so at the baggage check in but if not I had to go to another line, because the card readers did not work at the baggage check in. After speaking with other people on my flight they stated they where told the same thing but they paid cash and the attendant had put the money in his pocket. That same day while at the ticketing they claimed none of my CC worked and I called my bank who confirmed they had not be ran. At which time they ran them while I was on the phone with my CC company and they stated it was declined which the CC said it was never ran. The attendant then said the only way to pay the $1800 FARE WAS TO GET CASH FROM THE ATM???? Uuuuuummm, what a bunch of thieves. We've had an unbelievably poor experience with Aeromexico. We are from Houston, just got married and Hurricane Harvey has made it impossible for us to leave today from Houston for our honeymoon in Peru. Our home has been damaged and we simply cannot get away while our city needs our help to rebuild. The last thing we want to do is cancel our honeymoon but the city, our home and our loved ones need us now. Your organization has shown zero sympathy for our situation and insists on charging us $200 change fees for a catastrophic situation completely out of our control. If you have any other choice take it. We were flying from Mazatlan to Puerto Vallerta through Mexico City. However there was no other way except to drive - which would have been faster, and the State Department advises against driving through Sinaloa. At 7am on July 1st we received an email from AeroMexico saying our flight had been "reassigned' - to June 30th. What? Really?? So we got on the phone and kept trying to reach somebody in flight changes/information - Option 2 (note they don't answer the phone). Finally by going to new reservations we got a live person who confirmed our original flight reservation (for July1) was correct. So after a sigh of relief we checked out and headed to the airport to discover that the flight was delayed for 2 hours because somebody inoperations didn't schedule flight crews properly and we had to wait for the crew to for our flight to get enough rest. This became a problem for us because we had a connecting flight where we were only supposed to have 1 hour 45 minutes on the ground in Mexico City. When finally boarding we were told we'd have an hour - no problem, right? Wrong! We had one hour from the time the plane touched ground. The don't factor in the time it took to taxi to the gate (a remote terminal), unload the plane onto busses, and drive to the terminal. We're now down to 20 minutes and beginning to get worried. I'm in a wheelchair, and as promised, one was waiting for us at the bus terminal - fantastic. However another woman wanted a wheelchair and our porter went off to find one for her too. Never fly aeromexico Had a layover in CDMX, our connecting flight CDMX-LAX was supposed to take off at 2:20pm. Got an email at 1:30pm that our flight was delayed until 4:40pm. We sat down to have some coffee, and at 2:00pm, we get an email saying that our flight time has been changed back to 2:20pm. As we're sprinting to our gate, we hear "last call for flight to LAX" (yes, seriously) thankfully we made it, us and everyone around us were out of breath from running. What kind of airline expects everyone to teleport to their gate in less than a minute? Then began the endless barking of orders from the flight crew: get in line, fill out this form, check in, your form needs a sticker from that employee, you need to show your covid test for your sticker. The most inefficient system I have ever seen. It's amazing we trust this company to get us to our destination safely. Aeromexico, I suggest you throw out your entire system and start from scratch, it can't be any worse than it is now. Until then, DO NOT fly on Aeromexico. read more

Terrible customer service. Our flight from Santiago to Mexico City was delayed by over 30 minutes, and consequently we arrived about 30 minutes before or connector flight was scheduled. Aeromexico has no representatives looking for travelers with connectors and by the time we arrived at the terminal it was 16 minutes past our flight time. They told us the flight was closed. So they were willing to delay our prior flight by over 30 minutes but they didn't hold our connector for even 16 minutes. Then they put us on another TWO flights to get us home 8 hours later than we would have arrived. We went to the travel desk and asked why they didn't put us on a direct flight and they said it's because they were all "overbooked" with people on the wait list. So basically, our connector flight was likely overbooked as well, and they just put people from standby in our place, and just passed us onto a less full flight. When I asked the agent if she felt it was reasonable what they were doing she replied that "Aeromexico's only promise to us is that they will get us to our final destination, and they are doing that". read more

On my way back LA from CDMX Aeromexico told me I had randomly been selected for extra inspection they searched me and my carry on which I agreed to but I never agreed for my check in luggage to be checked, also they did not notify me they would. This airline is is nightmare! If I could do 0 stars I'd go with it! DO NOT FLY WITH THEM INTERNATIONALLY IF YOU HAVE A CONNECTION IN MEXICO. They make you go through customs (complete the form although your final destination is not even Mexico) and check your bags again (this means re-check your already checked bags). On May/16 my husband and I had a flight going to Madrid and went through this terrible experience. The airplane was old and our TVs didn't work - the flight from Mexico to Madrid was 11 hours with no TV! In addition, food is bad on couch (worse than usual for an international flight). Our flight back home Madrid-LAX - connection in Mexico was supposed to leave at 9pm on Sunday and they suddenly changed it to the 7am flight next day! After picking up our bags and going through the customs, we walked to the Aeromexico stand and waited at least 20 minutes to be helped. We were trying to change our flight to the original flight that haven't been canceled. They said they couldn't do it. We then talked to a supervisor (finally someone willing to help), who booked us in the same flight we originally had. We had 10 minutes to rush to the gate! I will never fly with them again! We flew from San Diego/Tijuana airport to fly to Managua. We had a lay over in Mexico City for a few hours. Unfortunately aero Mexico delayed the flight by 8 hours. So we missed our connecting flight to Managua. We got to Mexico City and they said oh sorry but now you have to wait till Tuesday and also get retested for covid. We flew into Mexico City on Saturday morning!!! 3 days later in a hotel in Mexico City, we now got to fly our second leg. Once on the plane, I asked to sit in business class as I paid for it. The gentlemen directly said "no" in a rude way stating that's a different day. What a piece of $hit! So now I am stuck back here in economy after I paid the business class amount. Worst Airline **NEVER USE** First of all we had book through Delta Airlines a few months back and we received an email that our flight had been changed to Aeromexico. We thought no big deal. We get to IAH in Houston Texas for our family flight to Cancun Mexico with a 3 hour layover in Mexico City. We go to check our bags and we were told that we have to pay for baggage (First Strike because we are Delta Sky Miles Members we thought that because Delta switched us that our baggage would still be free.... Nope $130 one way) Okay so our frustration level has raised up. Now the only thing that was not Aeromexico's fault was that we had a traveler with us that thought the US Passport Card was good for air travel well it's not and the rude with no compassion agent at check in let us know in more ways than one. We just asked her a simple question and we were told not to waste her time with questions (Strike two and Anger Level just went up a notch) We checked our bags and received our boarding passes all the way through to Cancun. Meanwhile we had to arrange to have our one traveler transportation home. We ran to the gate and the agent that checked us in was at the gate and once again VERY RUDE to our family which we never said a word to her that would make anyone treat a customer like she treated us. We boarded and arrived in Mexico City. As our family was getting off the flight I wanted to see what gate our connecting flight to Cancun would be and there was no gate number or seat assignments. We never noticed it before we left Houston because of that situation. Well on our tickets they all had STBY..... Anger level just went up again. We figured out what gate our flight to Cancun was and went to the gate and I went up to the agent and asked why were we put on standby? He said no clue but we were not going to get on the flight because it was overbooked (New level of anger!) Now we had arranged for pickup in Cancun for 8:30pm and so we have to figure out what flight we will have to get on if any to get to Cancun. Lucky thing Delta had a little customer service desk and they were able to get us on the next flight out which was an hour later and we were able to get a hold of our transportation. We finally arrived in Cancun around 10:00pm. Trip from hell over. Now this is what I don't understand. I have flown all over the world and have had hundreds of connecting flights and I have never in my over 30 years of flying ever been issued a STANDBY ticket for a connecting flight. I WANT TO KNOW WHY THAT LADY AGENT IN HOUSTON WHO WAS SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFULL TO MY FAMILY PUT US ON STANDBY AND WHY DID WE HAVE TO PAY FOR OUR LUGGAGE BEING DELTA SKY MILES MEMBERS? We have already spoke to Delta Airlines and have filed a formal complaint against your airline as a partner with Delta. read more
