Came in with complaints of GI issues and sharp pains in stomach. I was not inside this facility with the doctor for more than 5 minutes. I was told that it "was probably just gas and should change my diet." These people were making a snap judgment based on the fact that I am overweight, failing to see that I have been on GLP-1s for months and have significantly changed my diet already. I feel like I was being discriminated against as they did not do any sort of testing to find out if it could be anything besides gas. I'm not sure how you can know for sure that there are no other possibilities in the span of 5 minutes. I don't know why I just paid $40 to get insulted, will never be returning! read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience was unacceptable. The front desk staff member I encountered was shockingly unprofessional. Their appearance alone set the wrong tone--tattoos on full display, scrubs so tight they were inappropriate, and a generally unkempt look. Even more concerning was their attitude: curt, dismissive, and flat-out mean. When you walk into a healthcare setting, you expect professionalism, courtesy, and at the very least, a welcoming demeanor. Instead, I felt judged, rushed, and unwelcome. First impressions matter, and if this is who they have representing the practice at the front desk, it reflects very poorly on the entire operation. read more

Appointment went OK, was told its would be given an inhaler and a steroid to get rid of a cough i had for 3 weeks..which is still have at 1 month. Got to the pharmacy to pick up my scripts and they only sent the inhaler. On the pallerwork it said mucinex and inhaler. Mucinex is NOT a steroid. I called the office and the PA that seen me,was not there for the day,so I was told to call back the next day. I did call back, gave them my number, and I NEVER heard back from them. Went here for a minor sickness only to be billed over $250 for "new patient/outpatient" fees. It's not like I'm going to become a regular patient, as this is "urgent" for a reason. This just goes to show how healthcare businesses like this, prey on people with insurance so they can bill exorbitant fees instead of helping to promote a healthier community. Even the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office launched their own investigation in 2018 into allegations of high outpatient fees from hospital owned care centers. After a $176,000 settlement, hospital care centers agreed to be more transparent with their billing. It seems like once again, this has gotten out of control and it's time to file a formal complaint with the Attorney General's Office. read more

I was able to get a prescription for emergency epipen and rescue inhaler days before leaving for overseas travel. Great option instead of trying get appt with primary care. Upon return from travels, was treated for sinus infection and exacerbated asthma. I recommend to pre-register online to confirm best time to come in. I made an appt online. This is important to do. I called in the morning and they said that is the best way. It is true. They will email you the forms for you to fill out right before your time so make sure you fill them out. I was taken on time. Lea helped take my vitals. And Dr. Melanie checked me out. I either had poisonous parsnips (rash) or poison ivy. I was in the Poconos and I understand that this plant is rampant. Ugh. She prescribed some meds for it. I never had it before so I didn't know what it was. (unfortunately 3 weeks later ai am still dealing with this at home and my dermatologist is involved). The office is clean. They were able to send an e script to CVS across the street so my meds were ready within the hour. Now though I have to call my insurance company to find out why I still owe for my visit even tho the insurance covered 3/4 of the visit. Usually urgi cares under my insurance don't cost any more money! Argh. Always something! read more

Have been to this urgent care a few times now. I like to pre-register to make sure all my forms are completed prior to showing up. Important to note that the time that you register for is not an appointment time but rather holding your place in line. I went in early today before my scheduled time in line and was seen early no problem. They also were taking walk-ins today which can change depending on how busy they are I'm sure. I woke up unable to swallow with a swollen throat and lots of pain. Was unable to contact my PCP and get an appointment. I remembered I had been to AFC Urgent Care last year. So I went online at 9:45, made an online appointment for 11:00, arrived 15 min early and went right into an exam room. Tests taken (temp, throat, nose swabs) diagnosis made, script called in, picked up at 11:45 and in bed, all snuggly by 12:00. I received a follow up phone call, Informing me of the results of my testing which were all negative. Efficient, streamlined medical office. So much better than my PCP's office where I'm still trying to schedule a follow up appt in 10 days. No luck yet. Always polite and friendly at the desk. Usually have a nice and knowledgable doctor. Today I had "Dr. Bennett". One of the rudest and unfriendly doctors I have ever met. Very flat and snippy. I was nothing but kind and upbeat. Totally changed my day around as she treated me like a complete moron. Want to go here? Suggest you go on a day when she's not working. I may note that the nurse practitioner was amazing and understanding. EDIT: Despite my experience, I was contacted in a very understanding, helpful, and kind manner. All matters were addressed. JUST GO TO THE ER. Don't bother. Like all healthcare providers, when the chips are down and you need help they are right there to ignore your call. Struggling during the pandemic? Just reach out for help to get ignored! Then wonder what the hell you pay for insurance for if there are no providers out there who can actually help. Why not just tell people good luck with that, like you do with the covid message? "We know you are struggling and need help, but we won't do that and don't know anyone who will, so just try to deal but please don't call our office. I have pneumonia. this will be my THIRD time being treated for it since July 4th. I have the symptoms of an 'older adult even though I'm only 18. Urinary incontinence, brain fog, dizziness, exhaustion, nausea, etc. they DIDNT BELIEVE ME. And said 'I'm not sure what you want me to do'. I have pneumonia. A CHEST X RAY??? They did a chest x ray and then said the doctor would be back to speak to me soon. Aroujd 10 minutes later, a nurse came in and said that the results were clear and I dont have pneumonia. I was like 'oh that's weird i was told the doctor was going to come see me' and she stepped into the hall, said something to someone else, and then said the doctor looked and found nothing and now they're going to send it to the radiologist and they'll call me if they see something wrong. My discharge papers?? they say PENDING. The results weren't even in yet. I'm not sure what to do. I moved in here 3 weeks ago. I'm 2 hours away from home. Anywho, don't trust this urgent care. A very rocky visit. We were there for my daughter's vomiting and were seated in the same waiting room as two parties who came in with covid symptoms and had been exposed. The doctor immediately assumed my daughter was there for covid and tried to dismiss her when she said that wasn't why she came in. Then the doctor gave her the wrong patients print out. What a disorganized mess. A dozen people waiting inside, with more people lined up outside. An outdoor "drive thru" COVID testing unit not even being used. I stood at the reception desk for almost 10 minutes before someone came out. At that point a line had formed behind me. I showed up right on time for my appointment and was told the wait was 1-2 hours to be seen. So why did the email and texts tell me to come 10 minutes early to my appointment? So I could wait extra long? They called someone's name to be seen and he couldn't be found. So the receptionist got annoyed and called his cell. He was standing outside and when he came in she said, "I called your name." And he responded, "I was told to wait outside. How could I hear you?" She grunted. Some of the staff weren't wearing masks. This is a terrible place to get a COVID test. Why do they advertise drive thru tests and not use them? I left because it seemed like an unsafe, mismanaged mess. We were visiting from NYC and my daughter developed a nasty case of Impetigo that had MRSA indicators. I was pretty worried and wanted to get it looked at immediately so we headed to AFC because our sister said she had a great experience there a few months ago. Quick and easy check in, very friendly and professional. Wonderful nurse who was a wiz with my 6 year old daughter who was feeling sick and nervous. Fantastic knowledgeable doctor who had her residency at Valhalla-Maria Ferrara which is a leading children's hospital in New York. High quality medical care delivered very quickly (in and out in 25 mins) and with professionalism and courtesy. I can't say enough good things, great job AFC! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I could. I have tried to have my child be seen at this location at least 3 times (closest urgent care from home) different issues, instructed by her primary doctor. Turns out that every time I get there doesn't matter at what time of the day they can't see my child because they are "booked" for the day and never have appointments for early the next day. Today I went in around 2pm (they close at 6pm) and they were "booked" but little did they know is that the people that came in after me work with me and showed up with no appointment but they were seen with no issues. So they just didn't want to see me or my child. read more

We came about 90 minutes before close with a camp injury. The entire staff was so pleasant and funny. I was incredibly pleased with every person we came across. The front desk, nurses, aides, X-ray tech and the PA were just great. My son def wasn't "comfortable" and he still kept a happy smile on his face, thanks to everyone he came across. Very thankful for this clinic! My ear had been hurting me, but my normal drs office shut after 5 so I couldn't make it in after work. Walked into the clinic and they had me fill out the information and took me right away. The dr took care of me and prescribed me my medicine quickly. I came here for a rapid covid-19 test. The staff was mostly professional and seemed to be very nice, the problem only came later after I was tested. The woman who performed the test assured me she would call within 20-25 minutes to let me know my test results. I waited over and hour and when I finally called no one would answer. I understand they must be doing a lot of tests, but it is beyond unprofessional and disrespectful to promise results and then leave the person anxiously awaiting them hanging for an entire extra day with no explanation. read more

I highly Recomended NOT getting a covid test here. What a nightmare!! Previous review was correct. I tried calling 30 times today. They never once answered the phone. I had a 5 pm appointment. I drive there. 60 min. The waiting room has 5-6 people in there. The girl behind the counter says no Cc today- you need to go get cash. I said but I tried calling all day to make sure no issues as I live very far away. The reply - "I'm not having that conversation, we don't have the time to answer the phone". Super rude. Zero customer service. I'm in the car and deciding to cancel mine and my wife and two kids tests. No way like I want to deal with this level of disorganization and rudeness, hard to trust them to be safe after seeing that. Terrible. I highly recommend not going here for a rapid covid test. Why not hire someone to answer the phone at $12 am hour?? Why not update clients Cash only?? Really questionable place to get tested. Go ANYWHERE else. read more

Pros: Super polite staff, very efficient and didn't take a vast amount of time. They get a 5 star Con: Was misdiagnosed with trigger finger when I had mallet finger. The instructions I received of removing the splint and exercising the finger actually was not good for the true injury and hindered the healing process. I had a covid test they left a message this morning to call them back and no one answers the phone. I have been there several times and never even hear the phone ring and sorry but its never that busy even during covid. If you are going to leave a message then leave the test results. My second visit. First time was for a shoulder injury and Charlotte calmed my fears as she is a orthopedic PA. The second time was for a very deep cut on my finger that would not stop bleeding and required 5 stitches. The attending doctor also calmed my fears as his specialty is ER. i took my 12year old daughter there to be seen for covid/flu like symptoms. i got there by 8:20am on a sunday morning. and i was turned away they told me they were too busy to see my child. i was told to go somewhere else or wait until the evening for an opening. as far as i know kids should not be turned away. shame on the medical workers in the swampscott afc urgent care. read more

I can't even count the reason they are so amazing! The facility is very very clean and kid friendly! The waiting was very short comparing to any Primary Care's office or the emergency! I took my 3 year old for what I though was a strep throat. The girl at the front desk was very polite and accommodating. Someone called and had the wrong office, so the receptionist didn't just inform her she called the wrong place, but gave her the phone number for the other office! Like, how many do you know will actually spend the time to give you the right information?? When we went into the exam room, the nurse didn't just leave the disney channel for my 3 year old, but looked for the show he loves-Paw Patrol! Made my kid fill important, cared for and comfortable! When the PA came to examine him, he was listening to me with attention about the events that had happened before and while my kid got sick and was very gentle with my son. When we left, the nurse who had seen him and very were friends at that point, gave my son lollipop and sticker, but not only for him! For his brother also, who was not even there! Two days later, they called in to check how my son was doing. Three days later they called me to inform me about the results from the lab test. The PA who had checked my son was not there that day, but because I had questions, they offered to inform him and call me ON HIS DAY OFF!! I have hard time talking to his Primary Care when he is in the office, it's always the nurses talking to me, and at this Urgent Care facility they did above and beyond to take care of us!
