The experience starts with Johnny's expert design consultation that includes exceptional attention to the little details that I might not think of but that make for an enhanced outcome. Installers, Jorge and Sebastian took great care to install according to my design wishes but also to ensure structural soundness setting me up with an end product that will provide years of carefree style, performance and endurance. They went above and beyond, helping me out with the drainage under the supporting wall. I'm new in my neighborhood but had folks stopping by to admire the work being done. I look forward to the next project in my back yard.

I had more issues with them than any other construction company I've ever used. The quote for the…read morefence and contract was handled by Brian, who repeatedly forgot to send the contract documents to sign, and sent messages to me meant for others. I also told Brian when I could be home for the installation, and he completely ignored that, which resulted in further delay. The first day, one installer showed up 3 hours late at about 12:30 p.m. He worked for an hour demolishing 30 ft of fence, then sat in his car for 3 hours. The next day, he showed back up early with a second person, worked for 2 hours, and disappeared for the rest of the day. I insisted that those two don't come back and was sent to different installers the following day. For the most part, the new guys worked very hard and did a decent job, though they only used about half a bag of concrete per footing for the fence, and they left an odd gap between my existing gate and the new fence that required an ugly fix. Throughout all of this, the only redeeming factor for the company was Luis, who was constantly reaching out and quick to address concerns. However, I had so many issues throughout the entire process from beginning to end, even his efforts couldn't salvage the situation. Because of him, at least this review is two stars instead of one. This company was contracted through Home Depot and was about $1,800 cheaper than other fence companies, but that savings comes at the quality of work and incompetence throughout every step of the process. The monetary savings were absolutely not worth it, but the only consideration is the warranty was honored through Home Depot. *Update: The company has contacted me and apologized for the failures. It was nice of them to reach out and even offer a small refund, but given everything that has happened and the quality of the final installation, I do believe the two stars is deserved.

We were pleased with the new aluminum gates but we were disappointed by their fitting…read more It would have been helpful if the Contractor, in charge, didn't have to rely on one of his workers to interpret. This was probably the cause of the front gate being hung from the wrong gate post. A stanchion, to help support a gate post was poorly fitted with coach bolts breaking the stucco surface, and, for the gates themselves, the length of the deadbolts required their faceplates to be shimmed. They gate and lock they installed began to FAIL less than a week following construction. They also cut a jinky cut-out for it to fit into. I had to pay $5,000 to get a steel reinforced new gate installed. Nobody seemed to care if my property was secure or not! I have a pool and worried about the gate being left open!! After completion, my nephew, who is working for his Eagle Scout asked if they could donate lumber for a small fence in Mission Trails. Tommy had another guy return his call, but didn't bother to inform him what the call was about. My nephew was summarily dismissed with a "we don't do that." I spend over $25,000 on a fence and you guys can't/won't give the Boy Scouts a few pieces of wood?!! Cheap jerks! They left a very bad taste in my mouth!!!!!

I recently hired Steve to build a custom fence and do some basic landscaping for me at my…read moreClairemont home. From the first meeting, I could tell Steve was an unconventional kind of contractor and was willing to work WITH me to get the exact results I wanted. We spend at least an hour in person reviewing the project, then several rounds of phone call/emails back and forth to hammer out the details and price. Compared to my other bids for the exact same work, Steve's bid was exceptionally detailed (I kid you not, down to the nuts and bolts required) and was SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper--so much so that I hired him on the spot when I got his final reworked bid. I am a pretty particular person (some might say a micro-manager), and I had a very specific vision for how I wanted the fence to be built and look. Steve (and his employees Chris & Patrick) were completely receptive to my input and turned the whole project into a collaborative effort in figuring out how to solve some of the more unique issues that arose during the construction. For me and my personality, that worked out perfectly. I am sure other contractors would have totally blown their lid dealing with me onsite everyday asking questions and talking, but Steve's guys took it in stride and the added collaboration really worked out for the benefit of the final result. The final fence built is so amazing people literally stop as they drive by and shout to ask who did the fence for me. I have even had SEVERAL people knock on my front door and ask for the contractor who built the fence. Part of that is down to my killer modern fence design (Steve know's I am right on that!), but most of it falls down to Steve's excellent execution of my vision. Due to the complexity of the project, Steve estimated 3-4 weeks, and they landed a little early at 3 weeks despite a few mix-ups and change orders. As the project was wrapping up, I was really looking forward to hiring Steve to do more work on other landscaping projects, but sadly, Steve told me he was moving home to be closer to family and this was his last project! I would without a doubt hire Steve and his team again for my future landscaping needs if he ever returns to San Diego.
