The WORST medical service I have ever experienced. I was waiting for this appointment for more than 6 months. When I came for my appointment with Dr. Muir, she wasn't there, and the other doctor was covering her shift. The receptionist didn't even call me to say that I will be seeing a different doctor. Following the appointment, I got a referral for an ultrasound to check my cyst and went for the ultrasound, but never got the results. When I finally called Dr Muir's office, they told me I need to follow up with my family doctor, so I did. My family doctor never received the results either. What a disaster and a waste of time! I also had had swab test done at Dr Muir's and the result didn't show up anything because the lab said not enough material collected. I asked to repeat the test and got an answer that I should just take antibiotics instead to treat whatever symptoms I had, without knowing what condition I had because the test didn't work. I had to schedule another test after a referral from my family doctor. Don't forget that waiting time to be seeing is 6-9 month (accordingly Affinity Women's Health Shannon Soga, Office Manager)!!!!! What's wrong with these people at this clinic and the whole system in general??? None of the people seem to have the intention to do good work or explain anything to the patient about the actual treatment. This is a great doctor's office. You need to be referred here if you are planning to deliver at Burnaby General Hospital. I have been seeing Dr. Sarah-Jane Anand and she's wonderful. Dr. Anand is kind, patient and knowledgable. So far every appointment I've met with her has been positive. Most of the staff are friendly except for a younger receptionist at the front desk. If it weren't for all the other staff, she would have brought the rating down for this place. Girlfriend needs to learn about customer service or really, just smile. *** if your family doctor refer you to Julie Wood OBGYN in Burnaby, change specialist as soon as possible. This is why: 1. She is disorganized. Her office lost the booking and messages for her all her patients for a few months. She blames the phone company for it. no ownership, no sense of urgency. everybody have to lineup again. Yes, all the lost bookings now go to the back of the line. 2. She have no sense of ownership. The family doctor have sent MRI results to her. she claimed to have never received it. But it was sent to her three times. We have to keep asking to get her to look again. Then like magic, suddenly she finds it. no apologies given 3. She is not knowledgeable. She prescribes injections without giving the details, side effects, time frame, mode of dispense. She just gave the prescription and that was it. We have to look up everything on line ourselves. My wife is very sure about her condition. She argues with my wife with the diagnosis. My wife knows more than her about the details and eventually she says, "oh... right that makes sense". Yes, the doctor should know how to do their job. But no doctor should argue with their patients. 4. She rolls her eyes at you. Yes, she rolls her eyes at you as you are explaining your symptoms and condition. This speaks volumes about her professionalism and her attitude. This should never be an issue. The patients lives are at risk here. If a doctor no longer wants to be a doctor for whatever reason, give the job to someone who wants it. 5. Her incompetence will impact your surgery date and your health. Due to her incompetence, my wife surgery is now in a indefinite waitlist. *** if your family doctor refer you to Julie Wood, change specialist as soon as possible. Run away if you have to. You will never reach them in person, and they will never call you back. You will also never be able to go there in person unless you take time off work (they only work 9-4, M-F). I was referred to Dr. Julie Wood by my family doctor. She was with almost for my whole pregnancy. Dr Julie Wood was super nice! She was very experienced. She took great care of me. Whenever I ask her things, she has great stories and good tips to share. When I had to deliver, she was not on shift in the hospital, however, she have made some clear notes on my file for instructions. Dr Wood even came to visit me in the ward the next day after my delivery. I was so touched. Can't wait to have a second baby so I will see Dr Wood again. read more

First off, I just want to say that this review is based solely on, well... I had an appointment with Dr Anand for May 8th, this appointment was confirmed approximately back in February. This morning I get a phone call from my GP advising me that I will no longer have an appointment with Dr Anand but another doctor that works within the office. This appointment will be this week April 21st. Dr Anand felt that after reading my chart from my last gynecologist that I saw approximately 3 years ago, that I would need surgery (which is not life or death) and she does not do this surgery. I made it clear to my last gynecologist that surgery is NOT an option. I have never had an appointment with Dr Anand, May 8th would have been my first. Initially, I was furious that such a decision would be made without even the first appointment, updated blood work or recent ultrasounds after a few hours I realized that clearly Dr Anand isn't the doctor for me. In my opinion, she wouldn't be a good listener as I wasn't able to have a conversation. Any medical professional that cannot even be bothered to honor a first appointment to discuss where the patient is at, their concerns or do basic tests is really a doctor no one should be seeing. I just need to make this clear, if I had the opportunity to see Dr Anand, had blood work, etc etc and if this was the conclusion she came to, then I wouldn't have had such a problem with the change. I was referred to Dr.Wood by my GP because I needed an Gyno. My experience was fine. She did a biopsy, put in blood work requests. When her front desk staff gave me the blood work order, they failed to tell me that I had to make sure i went for the blood on certain days of my cycle- no explained that to me until I went to life labs. Waste of my time & delayed blood work. Received a voice message from Dr. wood 3 wks later stating she would like me to call the office to book a phone consult or come in to discuss my bloodwork. I called the office not even an hour later and spoke to her "medical assistant"; I explained I received a message from dr. Wood and her instructions. She's says to me in the most condescending voice: didn't you know you had an appt for a phone consult with her today? Me: um no. No one informed me of this. MOA: well never mind - she'll call you tmrw the same time. Me: wait. Can you tell why i wasn't informed that I had an appt today? If it's important enough to get a call from the dr. I'm assuming it's pretty important to my health. She is aware I am leaving town soon. MOA: sigh. Its just bloodwork and she'll call you tmrw around the same time. Good bye. I hear her saying "what the hell" just as she hangs up on me. The next day, I call in the morning to see if I can speak to dr. Wood. Goes to MOA's voice mail and I don't bother leaving a message because ... well, why bother? I DO NOT receive a call from Dr. Wood. I'm hoping it's not life threatening. I will definitely be warning my GP's office about referring other patients to this clinic. I am an MSW - I have worked in hospitals & with community health clinics. This clinic is borderline negligent & an insult to the medical profession. If you are referred here, ask for another referral elsewhere. read more

I've been here twice & seen Dr Anand both times. The office was easy to find but the parking was a pain. I ended up parking around the corner & down an extra block. The inside was clean but it was so busy there was standing room only. The staff was unfriendly & didn't acknowledge patients who walked in nor did anyone smile. I watched the receptionist roll her eyes several times while talking on the phone & while answering patients' questions face to face. After waiting 45 mins in the waiting room, I was led into the exam room. It took the doctor another 25 mins before she came in. I felt Dr Anand didn't really listen to me & talked over my concerns. She asked me to take a bunch of tests then hustled me out, all in 8 minutes. I returned for my 2nd visit almost 4 months later to discuss test results. Parking was much easier to get & the office wasn't as busy but the receptionists weren't that friendly. I didn't have to wait long for the doctor this time but again I felt like Dr. Anand wasn't listening. The results were inconclusive but she told me she didn't think I have what every doctor I've seen since I was 23 has told me i have but prescribed me the proper medication anyways......weird, I know. Needless to say I will not be going back to see Dr. Anand as I didn't feel she was very knowledgable or personable. read more

I was referred to Dr Wood at Affinity Women's Health by my family doctor for a simple procedure. I confirmed an appointment a few weeks in advance, but a few days before the appointment I received a call to say that the doctor couldn't make it that day and they'd need to reschedule. No problem, stuff happens, and it was rebooked for Friday, Nov 2. On Wednesday, Oct 31, I received a call to say that Dr Wood would not be working that Friday and they'd have to reschedule. A second time!!! Seriously!!! The receptionist was hardly apologetic, with not a touch of sympathy that this was the second time. I told them not to bother, and rang my family doctor for a referral to someone else. And just like poster Vickie B wrote... "why does she cancel all the time on Fridays and why does it happen 2x for me?" Bad practice and bad customer service!! read more

This review is specifically pertaining to Dr. Wood. My GP referred me to see her to further investigate the possibility of endometriosis. He was quite certain I had it as I displayed classic symptoms of the disease. Dr. Wood expressed displeasure that my symptoms were "non-specific" tried to tell me I had "Pelvic Girdle Syndrome", not endo. She refused to do surgery on me to find out if I had endo or not because "surgery has risks". What about the risks of just leaving disease untreated? She then put a considerable amount of energy into trying to sell me an IUD. When I expressed concerns about certain side effects (ones which are noted in the manufacturer's pamphlet) she simply told me "that won't happen." What? Her intern was also judgey and spouted incorrect information about endo, which Dr. Wood did not correct. Dr. Wood also was dismissive or intentionally dense about my communications about the level of pain I was experiencing. Dr. Wood as adamant I didn't have endo - Well I sought a higher level of care at BC Womens Hospital Endo Clinic from one of the top endo specialists in the country and guess what? I was absolutely riddled with endo throughout my entire pelvis! Maybe she is good for other concerns but if you are looking for help with endo look elsewhere. read more

I was referred to dr. Wood fora Friday early sept. A week prior i receive a call that it needs to be rescheduled. Okay, now set for late sept and another Friday. 3 days before i receive a call they have to reschedule again. Now it is 3 months since the referral and still no appt. Why does she cancel all the time on fridays. And why does it happen 2 x for me. They offered me another dr but days and times don't work. Saw a review on google that the MOA Glenda was rude to them and I came here to make the same complaint. Hopefully the staff see this and do something about it. My very first time walking in I stood at reception while the 2 MOA's were chatting, so I waited until they were finished. I told them I had an appointment, and Glenda asked me with which doctor. I said which doctor, and with attitude she pointed to the other MOA's desk and said "the sign is right there". I myself work as a unit clerk and never give this kind of attitude. I was not in the slightest bit rude, only nervous being that it was my first time and my health problems have really been weighing me down and stressing me out. Absolutely zero care and zero humanity. I was referred to this clinic by my GP as urgent, I called them a week after I was referred and the receptionist was so mad at me for calling. There website indicates if this is an urgent matter you will be seen in 72 hours. It's been over 2 weeks. I am horrified and disgusted. read more

Dr. Muir is an excellent Doctor. On the ball, precise, thorough, understanding and extremely competent. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doctor they will feel confident with. Horrible. Terrible. Nightmare. The receptionist is very cruel and mean. Stay away from this horrible place. Its so frustrating, every time you get treated horribly, theres nothing you can do about it. Why do they want to treat you so horribly? They must be trying to make their horrible treatment a deterrent to going to the dr so that you stay away. Lord, how i wish i didnt require their services and could stay away from them. Drs should actually care about how horribly their receptionists treat people but they dont. They dont care about anything. I come here for 4 years and would not rate the doctors office badly because of the reception didn't greet me warm enough. This is not a restaurant, so I don't really care that much. As of waiting time, just once I had to wait for the doctor for 45 minutes and had doctor apologize, and stated the reason of the delay that she was delivering a baby in General Hospital (just behind the corner), yes that visit was a little bit rushed, but that was just one time. My doctor is Dr. Anand and I am very pleased with her, she is kind and always nice, also she is very knowledgeable, she helped me to get rid of the certain pain that I had for 10 years with prescription medication! Also she is now leading my pregnancy, I have some health issues right now, and she is very helpful with that. Answered every question I had and gave me sick leave from work for the sake of my baby. I highly recommend her. As of parking, arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment, sometimes there is few spots available almost in front of the clinic and sometimes you have to take a drive around the block to find it, and it's pay parking, 1$ for 1 hour. read more
