Marty has kept the $364 deposit of my 80-year-old mother despite him cancelling the job and saying that he would refund the money. That was a month ago, a month without the refund and him not answering her calls. Marty cancelled her reservation for her 80th birthday party after determining that the tent permit process in our area was "a pain in the a**." Unfortunately, he didn't do this until after days of claiming that he was completing the process--when he wasn't, thus making it difficult for us to hire another company. Once he cancelled, he said he would refund our deposit, a month during which he hasn't taken our calls. We had to use an out-of-town friend with a different number to call him. He miraculously answered this call from an unknown number. Beware. read more

Rose was very helpful and anytime I called she helped guide my decisions in what to purchase. I had an event planned for September. My husband and I both got covid & needed to cancel. My husband actually ended up in the hospital. I spoke to Marty 2 weeks prior to the event and he said he would issue a credit. AS of November, I have not receive the credit nor a return phone call or email. I am so disappointed in this company and more so disappointed in Karen as the owner. She is giving Women Owned Businesses a very bad name. I can't believe they can't even return a call. They also list that they are part of the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce and they are not. My next step is going to be legal and that doesn't have to be if they could just return a phone call. I discovered this company last summer when I needed a tent and tables and chairs for my sisters backyard bridal shower. They were fantastic! Not only did they help me figure out what sizes would fit perfectly, they also installed the night before which gave me plenty of time to decorate and be set up for the event the next day. I loved them so much (and they are unbelievably reasonable as well!) that I booked them again for one of my sisters wedding events in our backyard later that summer. Preparing for our wedding day, we ordered a tent, chairs, and highboys from this company. Marty asked me to go and measure the space for the tent, I have never done this before. I advised him that 100 people would be under this tent. After measuring, he told me for the space a 15x20 tent is needed, unknowing about tents, as this is not my profession, I said okay. Over a course of time, I began to research tent sizes and made calls. For my space, I needed a 20x40 tent to fit 100 people under, not a 15x20, which only seats 40, which I wasn't told. So I had to cancel my tent. The 100 chairs were delivered, but they were dirty, so my coordinator team had to get towels and water and clean the white chairs off, so that my guest could sit. The highboys were delivered without feet, so Backyard Tents had to leave and come back almost 2 hours later with feet, thank goodness, we had the allotted time to wait. read more
